  1. 10 articles are displayed on the front page. Clicking the red "click for more articles" button loads 5 more. Rinse repeat.
  2. what is broken about it?
  3. Reasonably well? Tough customer. That was a great scene and reminiscent of the first three seasons before it took a turn more into the fantasy realm.
  4. You are going to be really bummed then that there are actually only 7 episodes this season. Season finale is Sunday.
  5. Yep. Grabbed the family and went to Columbia, SC last night. Currently at University of South Carolina... Go !
  6. It sounds like you have javascript issues. Have you tried ctrl-f5 refreshing to load new files? But browser version and OS would help. Also when did this begin?
  7. The forums are separate from the main page. They don't share any code. This is really meant as feedback for the front page. Other than moving to https I haven't touched the forums. You can try ctrl-f5 and see if that helps. Otherwise, please make a post in the customer service forum. Thanks.
  8. This really isn't the thread for this. I prefer not to have tangent conversations in these threads because I'd like them to stay focus because I take the feedback very seriously and I don't want to kill the conversation.
  9. Make sure you hit ctrl-F5 to reload the style sheets. - The thought process on the serif headline font is that we primarily report the news and, at least for old people like me, serif fonts have a traditional newsy feel to them. The sans-serif for the text is for readability. - Yeah, the stars. It's complicated, but it's a legacy thing that has to deal with Google indexing the submissions (and hopefully providing a higher ranking), since the main headlines are nearly 100% external links. I'm sure there is a better way to do it. - I decided to add red accents because red lines on white is quintessential hockey.
  10. In this case it does. The absence of an opposing army pretty much declares it so. They even went on to explicitly point out why it wasn't a major battle through the scene where greyworm demands to know where the hell eveyone is and Jaime pontifcating on how Rob Stark burned him with the same strategy.
  11. Unfortunately, if you think the battle at Casterly Rock was a major battle, then you literally missed one of the major plot points of the episode. The Lannisters took their army out of CR, to attack the Tyrells. So, there was no big battle. That was the entire point.
  12. sweet. glad it worked.
  13. That will only work if you toggle the bbcode button in the toolbar because the link that needs adjusting is hidden when bbcode is enabled. I will probably end up doing a search and replace in the database to fix this.
  14. Well, that's a few hours I'd like to do over. Fixed, but damn I'm an idiot.
  15. Eh. I know. There is an issue with the way the board is parsing the URL. It is requesting http instead of https and the browsers are blocking it. I'm trying to look for the code, but I don't really know what I'm looking for. Which makes it difficult.
  16. I haven't verified but my quick answer is that you need to make sure videos are now HTTPS links because videos won't be served from a non-secure server. But maybe we had issues before that it had to be http? I don't recall.
  17. I've got the forum logo up there, so the header isn't as plain anymore. Looks sharp on mobile. Rather empty looking on desktop. Thinking of what information could be useful up there on desktop view.
  18. ah, no. (Clearly for advertiser reasons) Google wants websites to offer a good mobile experience. The carrot is that if you do - you get a higher SEO ranking. That has pushed websites to abandon a fixed layout. Now, as screen resolutions go lower from desktop resolutions - the layout changes dynamically. In our case, the sidebar flows underneath the news on phones. So, when I had an infinite scroll yesterday, it kept loading more news and you could never see the sidebar content that flowed underneath it.
  19. We have always been able to post video like that. I'm not sure why we don't. Sarcasm?
  20. ugh. Infinite scroll hides the sidebar on mobile. :censored:
  21. put in an infinite scroll functionality, since the number or articles can vary greatly every day. "Page 2" has always been poorly visited, now people can stop when they have seen enough headlines.
  22. Read four posts down. Regardless, the change has already been made. No login issues from what I can tell.
  23. Yes. I have mentioned 1Password and I know most people don't want to make their eyes bleed looking into this stuff, but if you choose a trusted platform like that you are probably ahead of 99% of everyone using the internet. Here is a word about their technology: https://1password.com/security/ Store notes, passwords, credit cards, whatever in the app on your phone or desktop.
  24. I don't actually store my passwords with a third party. 1Password is a phone app or a desktop app that can keep all data local if you prefer. Obviously, you need to have an appropriate backup in case of hardware failure. The way I think about it is that I trust world experts in security, which is their only job, more than every single place I register with where security may not even be a small concern, let alone their life's mission.
  25. Same. I use 1Password and recommend it to everyone. Unless you are a Rain Man savant, you should be using enough random 16 character passwords - there is no way you could remember them all. I get complaints from the password reset users occasionally that they don't get the emails. So spam filter along the way filters them out at times. In those cases, I reset it manually, so the user can change o to something new, secure and stored in their password manager.
