People have been suggesting this model for years where you subscribe to one online paper but get them all (or some large portion). That's where legacy models get in the way. TA was able to start fresh and take advantage of laid off talent.

Consistency is difficult to achieve at the highest levels. Kudos to all.

A couple items to note: 1. The url is going to change after upgrade. Community will be in a directory off of sabrespace.com 2. As such, you will need to login again. Make sure you know your credentials 3. The login/display names get combined. I’ll convert everything to use display names. Therefore you will use your display name as part of your login. 4. My experience is that 50% of you will really like the upgrade and 50% are going to wish me dead. However after a short period of time the latter will be fine with the changes. 5. Yes, the upgrade is necessary. This version that we are using has reached end of life and is no longer being patched for security issues. It is also not compatible with other modern pieces of software that makes everything run and therefore we have been sacrificing server speed until we get this community upgraded. I will probably start working on it later tonight and tomorrow.

Eh, kinda maybe not? I think he wa saying he was buried in STL because he is young and therefore more mistake prone and going to Buffalo allows him to make those mistakes. I don’t think he is importing the no mistake attitude from STL. I agree with the rest though.

It’s EXTREMELY difficult IMO. That’s why if I ever get my board license converted to do the upgrade, I’d like to separate the hockey mods from any other discussion. If there are a dozen people invested in a long term discussion about a topic, I’d love to just give them ownership of the environment, instead of relying on a one sized fits all solution. I’m hoping the club feature allows the participants to own that discussion at a level closer to the participants.

I am pretty torn about this in principle. I want newspapers to survive in whatever form that may be. We need real journalists serving the public and reporting on government and corporate activities. We can not survive in an informational vacuum. I think this just takes another profit center from them.

FWIW, Andy Strickland was on WGR this morning and my take was that he pointed the finger at Jack. His claim is that he has spoken to other vets who didn't mesh well with him.

Weak logic? It’s a open market where ROR went to the HIGHEST bidder. STL didn’t give us a top prospect because STL didn’t value ROR enough to give us a top prospect. NO ONE DID. The market spoke today. I’m sorry it didn’t tell you what you wanted to hear.

The Blues were a 94 pt team.

To put another way... ROR was so valuable and the return so bad, that not a single one of the other 29 teams were willing to beat that awful return despite the fact that every team knew ROR was available.
