  1. Past hour
  2. Not exactly drafted by the same team, but Gordie Howe played with both his boys in Houston and with the New England/Hartford Whalers. Would be surprised if there are no fathers and sons that were drafted by the same team.
  3. The quote from Dreger about Byram "And probably most importantly here, is the market for Bo Byron is terrific. It sounds like Adams, you know, to get involved in a trade conversation, a serious one, needs a right-shot defenceman coming back. I was told earlier today that things sound like they're getting closer in terms of a trade, but we'll see how it develops in the days, if not hours ahead."
  4. Sabres Fans: Can you do something to fix this team???? Sabres:
  5. You could argue it's 20+ too many
  6. When it comes to Martone, has a father/son combo ever been drafted by the same team?
  7. Today
  8. These aren't rankings; I haven't studied film. This is my list of the guys most appealing to me as a Sabres fan that could conceivably be there when we pick: Porter Martone: he's no Matthew Tkachuk, and his skating is meh, but the dude is an alpha, skilled and has the type of swagger the Sabres need Brady Martin: people are overrating him because of the intangibles; he's probably a 2nd-liner at best. Don't care, we need what he brings James Hagens: don't see a 1C in the pipeline; he's got the best chance to be one of any player that might slip Jackson Smith: a stallion, big rangy and competitive, with all the tools you need to be a top 4 D Radim Mtrka: he's going to PK and kill plays for a long time. Better tools than people give him credit for. When he matures he's the exact D the current Sabres are missing I like Aitcheson, Carbonneau, Eklund and Bear, but there will be better choices available Not excited by O'Brien or Frondell, but I guess they give value at 9 McQueen scares me; it's less the back and more the sense that he might be Kirby Dach.
  9. Trading 2 NHL players, one proven top 6 forward and another proven top 4 defender for a player who’s never played an NHL game and not at the prospect level of a McDavid or Crosby? That’s steep. Is he that good?
  10. Debatable. The only guy in the 1st round range who profiles in any way like Savoie we're not drafting so I wouldn't worry.
  11. He's got 11 more playoff goals and 28 more playoff games, but Kyrou's no gritty warrior. His career Corsi is fantastic though and his numbers aren't a result of piggybacking off Tage Thompson You're probably getting more goals and better defence, but the biggest gain is he's an adult and JJ is not.
  12. You're not far off. He's just so damn young still. I'll set his O/U point total at 38.5 next year. I like him....but he's still growing
  13. So is it fair to say the negoitations have been fairly cordial so far? They REALLY need to have a regular negotiation that doesn't result in lost chunks of season for once. Not counting the MOU negotiations which extended the life of the current CBA it has been a stupidly long time since that has happened.
  14. And which of these two have games better suited to playoffs and the grind to get there?
  15. 84 games? Now everybody's gonna be a 20-goal scorer!
  16. Am OK with getting stuck with an extra RS game if we finally get rid of paying for a PS game. Absolutely despise having to buy PS games. And to those saying the season is too long already. Yes, but this more or less doesn't change how many times players hit the ice. It knocks 3 or 4 days off camp and adds 3 or 4 days to the actual season.
  17. NHL needs to stop. 84 games is 12 games too many.
  18. Yup I want Martin or Bear too Gimme some of that NASTY!!!
  19. Yesterday
  20. Other changes with new CBA 84 regular season games with less preseason ones starting 2026-27
  21. The way you lay out the comparison I am even more convinced that it would not be wise to swap these players. As far as the potential downside for JJP I would say that the concern for his slide would be minimal because over the last couple of years in his early career he has already demonstrated improvement. So although I wouldn’t be foolish in guaranteeing that he won’t slide back, I’m comfortable in expecting upside.
  22. I thought that was a practiced line that said “we might get stuck with these guys so I’m going to put this out there because I need to hedge my bets, but I am looking.
  23. I assume you feel the same way about District Judge Brian Murphy who stated he plans on defying a Supreme Court ruling?
  24. Now the NCAA needs to let them stick around after signing.
  25. Beyond disgusting. Please tell me again how we are not dealing with a fascist regime? Defying the courts and the rule of law is STEP ONE in the Fascist 101 playbook. MAGA scum. https://abcnews.go.com/US/whistleblower-complaint-alleges-top-doj-official-emil-bove/story?id=123167302
  26. What a reality show it would be to have all access to the current state of affairs with Adams, Pegula and the lot. It would be spectacular.
  27. Upside in their careers, or upside this season? Jordan Kyrou is a better hockey player right now than JJ Peterka. He’s not going to get better. JJ Peterka might. He’s not going to get worse. JJ Peterka might. His worst full seasons are 27 goals and 67 points. Peterka’s best full seasons are 28 goals and 68 points. And what about the next follow-up question: which of these two players have more downside?
  28. So, now it's safe for Botterill to draft CHL players outside the top 10 selections?
