  1. Past hour
  2. How does it feel to live with a noose and a chair already prepared?
  3. As do most teams that are good for a long time (but as a Sabres fan I respect your wish for them to suck forever). They got Hagens when they probably shouldn't have though so we shall see what he amounts to. I can't figure out what they will be this year. Probably suck, but probably also hard to play against so I don't know if that gets them anywhere or not. I find it interesting that they aren't naming a captain. It's Pasternak or McAvoy (presumably) but they aren't going to name one this year. makes me wonder if it goes badly this year one or both of them might get dealt for an even bigger tear down. Just a speculation, but it's an unusual move for that team. Much depends on Swayman who seems like your typical crazy goalie so who knows.
  4. Today
  5. Okay, I suggested it and was asked to start it so here it is. It is my firm belief that injuries will be used as this years excuse. So, feel free to list them all here and end of the year we can see how many we had and if it had any legitimacy or predetermination at all. (or to tell me I was wrong if I am) First one, Sept 12. UPL has "tweaked" something and may or may not have an issue. https://www.hockeybuzz.com/2025/09/12/upl-injured-georgiev-signed-and-alarm-bells-are-tweaked
  6. Dahlin is an amazing player. I just wish the organization was as committed to being great as Dahlin is.
  7. It better not happen, Boston deserves to suck for a while
  8. I forgot the high taxes, lack of palm trees, an owner not committed to winning, the crumbling stadium, and terrible fan experience.
  9. I think they have something in Mrtka. He is so young and has a lot of runway in front of him and has a ton of potential. All the tools are there and I think the brain is pretty solid. If he turns out to be Myers with some more aggressiveness then that is a heck of a pick. Tonight he scored a goal and:
  10. I forgot this was on. But I had something going on anyway. Tomorrow.
  11. Leinonen was definitely in for the 2nd half of the game. Didn't pay attention to who was in during the 1st half of the game. It might've been him getting the full game but not positive of that.
  12. The place to talk about Terry Pegula, Kevyn Adams, droughts, ***** announcers, ***** players, ***** coaches, ***** prospects and how ***** the Sabres are in general.
  13. Holy crow — congratulations and mad respect, sir. Also, thank you for giving personal, informed perspective on the matter.
  14. This has no place in the hopium thread. Plenty of of other places to talk about this.
  15. Prospect learning to play Sabres style hockey
  16. 2-4 Lecempte. Double boo.
  17. and so it begins. UPL has "tweaked" something and camp hasn't even started. Injuries will be the 25/26 excuse. Start a thread now. This is the first. There will be many more.
  18. Everybody wants to play in Vegas that is for sure. It's a good organization and they want to win every year and they market the team well and treat them well. It might depend on how he fits with Marner. The Boston thing is the question mark. They are certainly positioning themselves in a way adding a 1C would make sense. Eichel with Pasta? That's a heck of a combo. It's certainly been dreamed of by many Bruins fans on a regular basis. No idea if Eichel shares that dream or not.
  19. We can't say until they sign their deals wherever. There was a rumor that Kaprizov won't sign it because he "wants to win a cup". Maybe he wants to play with Ovi. Or maybe Kucherov or Bobrovski. Maybe even Michkov. idk, but if it was just money you'd think he'd take that offer. McDavid idk where. Toronto? Eichel? Boston? Again idk if any childhood teams matter or if it's just talk but if I am one of them I don't see why I'd want to stay where I am necessarily when I know there'd be a bidding war for me. As for a superstar making it hard to build, absolutely, but a superstar also helps you win and maybe they play for less in one of those places or a no tax place and so on. I just think all the agents are saying "go to free agency and make bank".
  20. 2-3 12:55 left to play in the 3rd. Boo.
  21. As someone who has/had a problem (I hit 20 years sober in January) I would never tell anyone directly they have a problem. Comes off preachy. I can offer insight and observations if asked, but have rarely been. Reality is, people who have a problem don't want others, especially those who have been there, to confirm their suspicions. I gave up the sauce years before settling down and having kids, but I did drive drunk, and it is without question that which I regret most in life. I'm lucky I never injured anyone, including myself, or had to deal with the Police/Insurance/Lawyers. Already been said, but if you are this wasted - ear-lie in the morn, you done got problems, my man. Seek help immediately. If you get clean, maybe you get a second chance with the Sabres.
  22. Yesterday
  23. Sadly, they can, as they have proven the last two seasons. This is the pts trend under Adams leadership - 91, 84, 79. 10 reasons they could continue to regress 1. The Atlantic division is deeper than ever. Det, Mon, and Ott are actually improving while the Sabres have regressed 2. Adams traded away another young developing scorer, who has improved each of his 3 NHL season, for two depth players who may or may not have upside. 3. McLeod is almost certain to regress. He is a career 11.9% shooter who had a career year last year when shooting 20.9%. 4. The goaltending is woefully inadequate. The save % of our 4 goalies last season were as follows - UPL .887, Levi .872, Georgiev .875, and Lyon.896. League average last season was .893 in all situations. 5. Norris unlikely to play enough games to adequately replace Cozens. Norris has never played more than 66 games in a season and has averaged only 47 games a season during his time in the NHL. Remember he was shutdown after only 3 games last season following the trade from Ottawa. 6. The entire failed coaching staff returns including special teams failure Appert and defensive failure Wilford. 7. The team again refuses to spend to the cap and with the cap rising quickly, the Sabres are likely to fall further behind. Remember that teams that don’t spend to the cap rarely make the playoffs. 8. The defense remains defensively suspect. Byram, Power, Samuelsson and Bryson are still inept defensively. Kesselring and Timmins maybe upgrades defensively over Joki or Clifton, but neither has ever been a full time top 4 defenseman. Timmins has averaged less than 16 minutes a night for his career and last season was his first in 6 years as a full time NHLer. Kesselring played under 18 a night last season and while he did fill in the top 4, as soon as Utah got healthy he was relegated to the 3rd pair. He did have a solid all around season, but it’s fair to wonder if he is ready to pair with a player as defensively inept as Power for 22 minutes a night. It’s also fair to question whether the addition of two 3rd pairing D is enough to elevate a group as terrible as the Sabres have been defensively for years. 9. I am a big fan of both Benson and Kulich, but Sabres are betting on their continued improvement, plus rebounds from injury prone guys like Quinn and Norris, plus continued success from Zucker and McLeod, to keep the offense working. Also don’t forget we don’t even know who the 9th top 9 forward will be; will it be the injury prone and scoring challenged Greenway or a bet on another young player with 62 games of NHL experience in Josh Doan. That’s a great deal to ask and comes with a high risk of failure. If the offense regresses, it raises the odds of another regression by the team significantly. 10. Kevyn Adams is still the GM. I understand that the fans here want to have some hope that the 15 years of wandering in the hockey desert as punishment for the “tank” might end this coming season, but honestly we need to temper our expectations for a team put together by GMKA (aka Howdy Doody).
  24. 2-2 51 for the Sabres. Kucharcik
