Cool then the irrelavance will continue when compared to other leagues, and teams will let kids with potential waste away in the dumbest most underfunded leagues in the world. There's like 1 18 year old per year that this matters for. Saying the NHLPA wouldnt be for it is silly. The amount of teenagers in the NHL is next to nothing comparatively. A total of 10 to start the 24-25 season. It's not that anybody is for it or against it It's that nobody gives a short to change it because they NHL is antiquated.
-
Then better hope the NHL trade deadline falls on a Friday or a LOT of teams will be running short benches the 1st day or 2 after the deadline looking to allow their younger players the opportunity to get into playoff games for their farm team once the NHL team's SC dreams have gone awry. And personally loved the idea that players will have to physically report to the farm club until getting to that part about also having to play in at least one game. Thought for, literally less than a moment, that there was finally a change in policy in the NHL that would actually benefit the Sabres. They could have a player in Rochester and back within 3 hours if he doesn't check his speedometer too closely and doesn't hit bad traffic/roadwork along the way.

Plan A: It’s going to be Levi and UPL The GM gave the contract to UPL that says we believe you’re a legit NHL starter They let Levi develop and cook in the minors this year. They did everything they could to make sure he didn’t hit free agency after Northeastern. He was the main piece in your Reinhart trade. They want him to be the guy. He’s going to be 24 in December. Beginning to feel like it’s now or never with Levi. Golden opportunity to take the job and relegate UPL to a backup. Not sure who your 3rd option can be at the moment. Plan B: In season trade.

🚨 Buffalo Sabres – Time to Decide: TIC TOC 🚨 This is it. Sabres fans have waited 14 years—14 years of goaltending failures, playoff misses, and wasted prime years for our best players. Now we have a chance to end it tonight. Buffalo must make the final, best offers to Nashville and Winnipeg: ✅ For Saros (Nashville): Owen Power (or equivalent) UPL 2026 1st-round pick ✅ For Hellebuyck (Winnipeg): Devon Levi Mattias Samuelsson 2026 1st-round pick Plus lower-tier prospects as needed First team to say yes wins the package. Second team gets nothing. Deal expires at midnight. This is the only way to prove the Sabres are done being a joke in net. Kevyn Adams must act NOW or Pegula should fire him immediately—because we can’t afford a 15th year of failure. The NHL needs to know: Buffalo is a player now. TIC TOC. #Sabres #GoSabres #BuffaloStrong #NHL #SarosWatch #HellebuyckWatch -

Radim Mrtka, 6'6" RHD drafted 9th overall by Sabres
BullBuchanan replied to LGR4GM's topic in The Aud Club
The NHL is very fluid. They can always trade someone currently in the top 4 or they can trade Mrtka after he increases his value in the minors. He probably won't be NHL ready for 3+ years anyway. -
It makes sense that Demko would be the odd man out for the right price. It would seem that between Byram, prospects, available cap space, and even the possibility of sending them UPL to be insurance should Silovs turn out to be not quite ready provided the Sabres got Demko to ink a new deal the Sabres should be able to offer "the right price." So, the questions left are can Adams get it done and can Petterson not be part of what comes back to Buffalo. (Really hate the idea of this team swapping out Norris in a package that includes Petterson. On this team with this staff, can't see Petterson's contract anything but an albatross. Would happily be wrong should he become a Sabre, but just too much risk involved.)

The offseason so far - Are the Sabres better?
Taro T replied to GASabresIUFAN's topic in The Aud Club
Agree with most of this, but believe you are leaving out one huge issue from last season that contributed heavily towards your issues 2 & 3. The coaches don't know how to get through to the players on this team. Is that because they don't know how to teach/implement the system Ruff wants them to run, is it beause the system (as opposed to Granato's lack of a system) isn't good enough, is it because the players can't/won't implement it, something other, or a combination of all? Yes. But regardless of why the coaches are ineffective and have been for years hear; making a change there would seem to be the low hanging fruit to get improvement from the players. So frustrated that there is no movement on remedying this particular issue. -

"For some reason there's a love affair with doom and gloom" is your overall interpretive conclusion as to the motivation behind folks speculating: that's your own bias regarding the nature of the board, which you've expressed quite often. The question of whether the Sabres are better is in flux, so obviously some figured in what they thought likely (a trade of Byram), and others held off, and based judgment on what is true right now. I don't see that kind of variance as proof of an odd desire to "paint the worst picture," though it is true that a self-destructive madness can overcome a group when conditions turn in a certain direction. I hardly think that is what is happening on this board. In my judgment, the current roster is not a playoff team, so the offseason is a failure if it remains more-or-less what it is now. You can make an argument that the team is marginally improved overall. I'm not certain that is correct, but it is not ridiculous. What happens in the next week or so will be much more telling, so pausing on making pronouncements until there is greater clarity is actually the most prudent course. -

Perfect opp to Include one in a deal for Robertson -
Could work for Buffalo as Byfield shoots left so could either be your #1 LW or #2 center (with Kulich your #1 LW). Big hole at d would need to be addressed

You missed my point. You don't think I know the history? I'm saying no one can add Byram being gone today to the reason we're not better, unless you're always trying to paint the worst picture, which is what some Buffalo fans have been doing my entire life. So if you're going to say we need a partner for Dahlin today because of the departure of Byram, then incorrectly say we don't need a top 6 winger or whatever you want to make up. - Today

Even crazier when none are under 6'2" and 3 are 6'5" or taller. -
Something has to give in Vancouver. Lankinen signed for 5 years, Demko on more year left, Silovs just led the AHL team to the Calder Cup.
