This…. This sissy, is the only child with the nice toys, so ya let him play because he has the nets….. no hunger! …. How can this not be obvious! The kids from the factory side o town slap him shitless … We have had too many playing like sweat is frightening for years …. Get Power and anybody else who is afraid of germs the hell outta here! … I will pay the balance of his contract. ….

14 years definitely makes me more surly. If this was year 2 or 3 of a rebuild these kinds of losses are much more palatable. Hell, as recently as two seasons ago, I was still holding out hope we were finally clawing our way back to being a good team. I was extremely optimistic after 2022/23. Honestly, I think the lazy Lindy hire last year set me totally adrift. I love Lindy for what he did here his first go round, but NOTHING he had achieved since leaving Buffalo indicated he was the guy to guide this team out of the muck. It was just another half-measure by a GM whose entire tenure has been marred by not doing enough.

Power just needs to go, another gentle giant who gets beat to a lot of pucks.

That was an exciting game. Power makes infuriatingly soft plays on the regular but also makes quite a few nice plays. Dahlin looks distracted, understandably enough, but in any case is nowhere near his best. Quinn and Östlund were really bad to start the game but hung in there and had a number of nice shifts as the game went on. I think though they are both too soft to play with each other. I'd like to see Östlund with Doan and Tuch and McLeod with Quinn and Zucker. Kulich is out of his depth on the top line. Lyon was sturdy for the most part but the 2nd goal, from the blue line, was lousy, and the 3rd one wasn't great either albeit deflected. Still: they are 2 under .500, with 2 consecutive losses, and they need to get some wins.

Yeah, I wasn’t talking about the humorous posts. I’m talking about the burn it all down posts after grinding out a point against a solid team after a slow start. Especially when we all know that those same people were excited and starting to get more into the season 10 minutes earlier when the game was going our way.

I think ultimately Power will be moved. He will never be what a lot of the fan base hopes he becomes and they will crap on him. If you can get a young impact forward for him, hopefully a centre, you make that deal. Dahlin, Muel, Byram, Kesselring, Johnson, Timmins is as good as many D corps in the league. And Novikov and Mrtka aren’t too far off. If you can flip him for a Will Smith level forward I think you have to do it.

Trading Power at this point will be addition by subtraction. I do not think for one bit we will get a “haul” for him. I think a comparable starting point would be Byram for Mitts. Whether the “Mitts” we get is a the good one or the bad one is anyone’s guess. In fact, Mitts didn’t come saddled with a horrible contract, so I expect we can get Mitts Lite. one more thing: I don’t want a reclamation project with a huge contract (ie a Norris) coming back. Take less of a player to get more of a player.

I guess I'm just not seeing a noticeable improvement. Points % the previous 3 years: .482, .512, .555. this has been a roughly .500 club for a few years now. So far, small sample size, they're .500. I see the same pratfalls occuring with this year's model as the past few. Sorry, but I don't see a lot to feel like they're cresting some hill. Hopefully I'm wrong, but I just don't see this season ending differently. I don't believe in the front office, I don't believe in the coaches, and while I'm not saying we need to strip the roster down to its bones, I think there's still too many flaws. 14 years has made me quite cynical. I'll gladly be first in line to eat crow if I'm wrong.
