  1. Past hour
  2. I view this game as a litmus test. In recent years the Sabres would come out flat against inferior opponents, only to wake up in the final 10 minutes of the game falling just short of a comeback. Either we see more of the same, or they come out with their hair on fire and try to grab an early lead.
  3. I just canโ€™t wait to see some more three on three hockey tonight. I feel like if we can just get another four or five cracks at it we can figure it out.
  4. Well, should he hit 1,000, they can clear the bench again. There's no true significant difference between 899, 900, and 901; but humans in general like round numbers, especially those with more than one 0 at the end. And nobody else in history has ever scored 900 goals in professional hockey at its highest levels prior to last night. It was a significant feat; and was treated as such.
  5. Interesting choice given that he's part of the goaltending problem of the Blues right now. He has his moments but more often than not he doesn't.
  6. The biggest thing working against them at this point is they're about to play their 10th home game with having only played 4 on the road. Their record at home this year is good (5-2-2), not great, but good and should they win tonight good enough. But they've been horrible on the road. Personally feel they've played better on the road after that 1st debacle in Beantown than the record indicates but they have to be 0.500 on the road to be on a playoff pace overall and they aren't anywhere close to that (0-2-2) and they'll have 6 more roadies than home games the rest of the way. They HAVE to figure out how to get W's on the road, or it'll be another doomed season.
  7. Just because I'm sick of overtime at this point in time, I'm going to change it to Must Win in Regulation (MWIR) Mustard Was Inserted Rectally
  8. We need to skate hard and fast and wear them down.
  9. The Blues did have a full practice this AM
  10. Binnington came to my mind but even he was 25 when he made the big jump. Other that that I don't know. Ellis is 25 and still looking for a shot. My assessment is that UPL is inconsistent. Good UPL is a #1B while he is hot. Bad UPL is a back up #2.
  11. Not for a team that hasnโ€™t made the playoffs in 1.5 decades thatโ€™s for sure Tim Thomas
  12. 88 point pace. Not close to good enough - but the abundance of OT losses probably begins to shift somewhat towards outright wins or outright losses as the season goes on, Iโ€™d wager. Itโ€™ll depend on how that cookie crumbles. If we can get a few more breaking our way than not, theyโ€™ll have a reasonable shot at playoffs. Injuries should work in our favour, on the other hand teams tend to gear up as season goes on and historically weโ€™ve fallen by the wayside as that happens so that likely cancels out still too close to call
  13. UPL Is 26. Has a goalie ever drastically improved at age 27 or older? This should be prime UPL, but in a way it feels like he's still somewhat of a project.
  14. Ruff likes UPL. That is a given. Nothing is wrong with giving UPL a chance. They gave him a big chance in 22-23, and then again in 23-24. They gave him a contract in 24-25, and now more chances in 25-26. After all of these chances, I think they know what he is capable of. He could be good, or he could be lousy. Nothing is wrong with giving Ellis a chance either - unless he is still hurt. Ellis hasn't even dressed as backup since he played his one game.
  15. I would have been fine with something longer. Love OV or hate him, It is 900 freakin goals after all. Thatโ€™s historical.
  16. A lot of people made a premature judgment on Samuelsson. The same harsh judges were adamant about their evaluation of the defenseman. They were wrong because it is evident that the scorned player is now playing well. With respect to UPL, I, like many, are skeptical about him. Whatโ€™s wrong with finding out what he is capable of? And donโ€™t you think that if Ruff believed that Ellis gave the team a better chance to win that he would be in the net tonight?
  17. Every goal he scores is a new record. They might as well clear the bench each time.
  18. Today
  19. I watched it, in part to see what the Blues look like and in part to see OV get the 900th. I thought the the whole team streaming out was necessary and I thought they might do even more. But hey, score your 900th goal at home after playing 1,504 games for the same team - no big deal.
  20. Have you watched the Sabres the last decade or two? They fumble games like this routinely. Like itโ€™s almost a certainty this game will be harder than it should with a good chance the Sabres lose.
  21. My bad, I thought you were talking about an exodus in the stands.
  22. But they love sending out Dunne, Malestyn and whoever with under 3 minutes to play needing a goal.
  23. What? The mighty Mammoth lost? Back to back road games are tough.
  24. I watched a lot of the Blues and Caps last night. St Louis looked terrible and not just the bad goaltending. The key to beating them is to outskate them like Washington did. Which is why I worry. Expect the Blues to try to slow the depleted Sabres down - like Philly and Montreal do to us every game. If the Sabres can dictate their game and take a lot of shots then they should win it.
