  1. Past hour
  2. Should look at Mrtka too. I don't love him but it's not unreasonable to take him at 9. My issue isn't him so much as I believe in most drafts I can get a tall defender with his offense in the teens or later most years. It's more about the value you're getting at 9. But again a 6'5" rhd is going to look very attractive to Buffalo.
  3. I trust your evaluation so much, now I do too. I believe you may have mentioned Bear before we started passing teams in the standings and I think I liked what I read. I'll spend more time on these two for sure now. Took me a minute to get over myself.
  4. Interesting. Anyone I know that fishes the bar goes to target Lake Trout.
  5. It's a shame it won't happen. But this is exactly the high priced asst HC you bring in at a time like this. Lindy fails, he steps in. Lindy does well, he gets hired somewhere else as a HC - OR - Lindy retires/gets an office position and he becomes our HC. It's a great move from an improvement/insurance perspective. This is an asst HC you over pay for.
  6. Buffalo is active right now because it is hosting the Combine. Show me, Darth Pegulas. Show me.
  7. The important thing to remember, from one of the Sabres promo season videos or interviews, I think…. Is that Ruff initially declined the job. But he got convinced by Pegula. Adams was all set to promote Appert, also sans interviews, apparently. If the owner, allegedly your buddy off the ice, says he’s got a 2-year gig for you so you can evaluate the team, it’s pretty easy for you to take the assistant coaches under contract and evaluate them as well. Because you got hired and told what to do directly by the owner. Ruff is 100% complicit in last year’s opening roster, staff, and the resultant garbage. He could have put his foot down upon hiring and brought in a real staff. He did not.
  8. Today
  9. And it should be noted that the self-proclaimed largest walleye in the world is in Rush, MN. It’s supposedly 2,000 pounds and was caught by Paul Bunyan. And is made of fiberglass. For some… delicious… reason, walleye got stocked in the Columbia River, so you can get tasty walleye in Eastern Washington, west of the Rockies. It doesn’t make it to the Seattle restaurants, but it’s there, just a few hours east. Was Leino the original plan? Or the locker room and HarborCenter?
  10. The lack of vision started with the original plan…….
  11. We’ve been paying for our lack of vision for at least 8 of the last 14 years.
  12. Directly into the lineup for game 3. Three assists in the win, feeding Draisaitl, Kane, and Skinner for the game-winner. That’s how it’s done.
  13. Niagara Bar FFS!
  14. Well we now know Edmonton will win the Stanley Cup, that's how it works doesn't it?
  15. I'm from Ontario, and no one in the Golden Horseshoe would on this side of the border would ever target walleye in Lake O to the point it would be a talking point in an interview. In the eastern part of the lake in some of the bays... maybe, but thats not really a popular spot for lake houses for people from around here. For sure he's on Erie somewhere in the Port Maitland area. Doesn't matter anyways. Lindy's under contract for another year... I just posted it because I like Muddy the Mudcat!
  16. Yeah hardly...I moved out at 18 when I went to college and have been on my own since, well with my wife and family for the past 20+ years technically. And I am definitely a physical specimen. Don't see many guys at age 50 walking around with abs looking like a linebacker. Darien Lake water park days are always fun. 😏 Sabres have had nothing for 14 years now. Maybe one day...
  17. Hence why its doom. He’s too parochial to be aware there is another lake in Ontario that is a Great Lake (ffs) and has both walleyes and salmon.. It even says ONTARIO in the name.
  18. The signing of Marjala seems to be part of a strategy. Earlier they signed Atro Leppänen a 26yo LHD who had most points of all players in Liiga. They also signed David Tomasek a 29yo with two great seasons in Färjestad, SHL, the last season with over one ppg. Oilers are trying to find something useful in the european bargin bin. The Sharabanov to Flyers news are interesting, he and Michkov could be fun to watch.
  19. Let them be aggressive hiring Deboer and let Jarmo take the wheel on some deals.
  20. Now that I think about it, the Bay of Quinte on Lake Ontario is known for walleye, and I'm guessing they still get salmon in there. That said, I'd be very surprised if he'd be talking about anywhere else other than the Lake Erie / Dunnville area.
  21. Well ya, so putting that in the worst way, a tired old man with a chance to pad his retirement account working from home. So he took the job.
  22. I keep seeing things like this and I have a hard time believing it. Active? With Kevyn Adams? With no coaching changes? I will believe these things when they happen.
  23. Now I’m getting into speculation territory. I think Ruff is at the stage/age where it appealed to him to go into a situation that was set-up. No interviews, no decisions about letting a coach go, no having to call coaches and break the news that he is “going in another direction”. It’s a variation of what you are saying.
  24. They hired Bylsma because they didn't get Babcock and he was last notable coach remaining. Had won with Crosby so the thinking was win with Eichel. They fired him because there was no progress at a point when there was greater expectation after drafting Eichel (and we already had Reinhart, O'Reilly etc.) After more than a decade of failure the bar for success has been drastically lowered, that's obvious. DeBoer will never happen here.
  25. These things happen and who knows. I know nothing about him so can't say if we screwed up or not. I'm really interested to see if this Shabanov guy (supposedly linked to the Flyers) will come over and can he play. Supposed to be incredibly skilled, was just passed over for size. I only put it here cause it's not worth it's own thread on a Sabres site.
