Mrtka has such good lateral mobility and he's not even man strength. -
Where are our current prospects? My general rule is as long as the player is 24 and under and is waivers exempt he is considered a prospect. In that context Benson (he is still waivers exempt despite 2 years in the NHL), Kulich, Kozak and Doan are still prospects. Kulich, Doan and Kozak all also spent time in Rochester next season. I'm also going to restrict myself to guys I think have a legit shot at the NHL or being AAAA players. Group 1: Guys likely to (or should) start the year in the NHL - Levi, Doan, Kulich and Kozak Group 2: High end picks - Rosen, Helenius, Mrtka, Östlund, Group 3: Maturing guys close to NHL ready - Novikov & Komarov Group 4: early and middle round picks showing potential - Kleber, Ziemer, Osburn, Wahlberg, Strbak, McCarthy, Neuchev, Leinonen, Sardarian Group 5: FA or Late round picks who have potential - Brunet, Leenders, Richard, Geary, Ratzlaff & Kopff I'll add guys once drafted today. Others Still in the system: Ryan Johnson (31st - 2019), Kisakov (53rd - 2021), Polatpov (33rd - 2021 - signed in RUS through 26/27), Miedema (109th in 2023), Nadeau (97th in 2021).

That's because he was a horrible skater for the 1st 3 years of his time with the Aisles. Conversations, check. Open, check. Free square, check. Challenging, check. Just need honest and we'll have BINGO!!! -
I'm trading Kulich over him.

Listening to adams here... I still greatly dislike how he thinks. It's so narrow and unimaginative. -
So your Trading Tuch, Thompson or Dahlin over Benson?
-
Which is why no deal has happened. Can't sign him until July 1.
-
Idk honestly. Gastrin is good though.
-
I think Dallas will want either Kulich or Benson in a trade package because they are cost controlled and can play a role now. The bigger issue is being able to sign Robertson. You can't give stuff away unless you are sure that you are getting some years out of him. If he is willing then I think it is a deal you have to make.

Let's hear your take on locker room culture then. -
Except these guys BELIEVED in & LOVED Granato. They weren't anywhere CLOSE to playing big when they were coached by him. And every single time down the stretch when they had a must win game they lost. Desire is necessary but not sufficient to be effective. You also must have an understanding of what you need to do and and understanding of HOW to do what you need to do. Personally, expect that a significant portion of them have the desire. Personally believe Ruff gives them an understanding of what they need to do. And those 2 combined is why, unlike Granato's squads that rarely came out of the gate quickly, Ruff's team last year tended to take the lead in a lot of games. But 100% have no faith that the coaching staff that is supposed to be teaching them the X's & O's give the players the understanding of HOW to do what they need to do WHEN the other team is bearing down fully. Given the choice of changing out 6 or even 9 players for guys that we'd consider upgrades (presuming no changes in net) vs swapping out all the ACs and leaving the roster intact, expect that bringing in a legit coaching staff would do more for thie outcome than swapping out the roster. And we know they aren't going to be swapping out that much of the roster.

Do You Like The JJP for Kesselring/Doan Trade RIGHT NOW?
dudacek replied to bob_sauve28's topic in The Aud Club
I’ve started to become quite interested in what broke in the JJ/Buffalo relationship. He previously always came across as boyish and kinda goofy; maybe not the brightest bulb in the room, but a good kid. The body language stuff that got talked about this year was real though and there was a shift in his demeanour, even as his stats and role got elevated. I wonder now how much of the on-ice stuff I got tired of watching was cause and how much was effect? I wonder about his relationship with his new coach and that coach’s talk about culture. I think about the stories on how hard that coach was on Thomas Vanek and how Vanek says it was good for him and how Andrew Peters scoffs. I think about my perception of how JJ has been put on a pedestal by this organization, how he started the year being celebrated and kinda giddy in the visit to Europe and how Adams seems to be caught by surprise on how this relationship went sideways. This isn’t an “I’m tired of losing” thing. And I’m pretty sure it’s not a “they won’t pay me” thing. Something changed. Gotta go back and do a rewatch of JJ’s year-ender. -
I would think you're more likely right than not. I'm pretty sure I saw that man on CNN some time ago, I thought it was interesting that he pivoted from his previous position. Don't know if he's right or wrong and I'm not knowledgeable enough about it to offer an opinion. Either way, my primary reason for linking the article was... ...this 😆 I needed something this morning to put a smile on my face. I knew I could count on this idiot to give me a TDS inflicted Trump rant for me to laugh at. Again 🤣🤣🤣

Chara had a really long development curve. He wasn't the Chara that was great for a lot of years -
If you go back and look at D-men picked from 6-12 and see how long they developed: 2015: Provorov (played full season in 2016-2017) and Werenski (Played full season in 2016-17) 2016: Sergachev (played a full season in 2017-18) 2017: No D-men picked in that range (Makar was taken 4th overall) 2018: Quinn Hughes (played full season in 2019-20), Adam Boquist (has yet to play full season), Evan Bouchard (played full season 2021-22), Noah Dobson (played full season 2021-22) 2019: Seider (full season 2021-22), Broberg (full season, almost, last year), Soderstromm (no full season yet) 2020: Drysdale (full season 2021-22) 2021: Edvinsson (full season last year, 2024-25), Clarke (full season 2024-25) 2022: Jiricek (no full season yet), Korchiniski (full season 2023-24), Mintyukov (full season 2023-24), Mateychuk (no full season yet) I didn't want to look back at the last 2 drafts, it might be early for them yet. So, it looks like the farther back you go, the more likely a D-man was to play right away. In recent drafts, they seem to take longer. But of all the D-men listed above: 7 of them played a full season the year after they were drafted. 1 took 2 seasons after their draft year. 4 of them took 3 seasons after their draft year. 5 of them took longer than 3 full seasons or have yet to play a full season for the team that drafted them.

Bonsigniore was a Rochester kid from the Jr. Amerks. I was playing beer league at Lakeshore Arena when he was there. -
I think part of that comes from holding yourself to a higher standard and holding your teammates to a higher standard and having belief in what you are doing as a team. This team hasn't had that in a long long time. What many people are willing to do for something they truly believe in and feel an integral part of is different than for something they don't.

Not sure if this got posted elsewhere, but Ray Ferraro had an interesting nugget in his podcast with Dreger. Said he broadcast a game in the back end of the season where Peterka would come off of his shifts and plop down with his body positioned in such a way that he was turned away from the bench like he was checked out. Not clear if it was aimed at coaches or teammates, just that something was broken. His take on the trade was that the Sabres are/were getting blown up because people just don’t know the Utah players; not big names, not a big market. He thinks Peterka is the best player in the deal but people don’t know how good Kesselring is and the Sabres did fine. -
Atleast trading Kulich would force them to get a true centre in the top 6.

This is peak trolling BS. Let’s go back 15 years to find a tall dman who didn’t turn out and post it like it is some comparison in any way, shape or form. ”Don’t draft Mario Lemieux because Jason Bongsinire was a tall RHC that didn’t turn out.”🤣. Some people really need to just go take a walk and get some fresh air. -
I didn't do a bunch of research past the first round. Which fits us best? I guess, I like Gastrin, after watching the video. Well written Taro, play heavier, and harder. And be better ***** teammates.
