I’ve written Norris off for the season and most likely his career with the Sabres. I drank cups full of hopium dreaming of a world where the Sabres finally got something right. Moving on from Cozens, who still looks like a net negative, was the right thing to do. It was a gamble bringing in Norris, and the Sabres crapped out predictably.

It sure does seem like they've quit on Ruff. Clean house. Now. Letting this fester through the entire season so everybody can be let go with no outstanding money owed will convert this from a single additional lost season into an additional 3-4 lost season affair.

I realize kids have off and the league will get some perceived benefit of getting them in the barn but when your sport struggles to maintain its relevance as the 4th(?) most popular in the country seems a bit misguided.

I might have to give it a listen. I know shadenfreude is taking pleasure in the demise of others, what’s it called when you are taking pleasure in your own demise? Masochism I suppose. The need to put this sick dog down. Put us out of our misery. I have no idea what that entails but it’s needs to stop. Fire everyone, trade everyone. Sell the team so they can relocate. Just get this garbage out of my life.

I really want to see them start off strong and not sleepwalk through the first half of the game. I can already hear the post game comments of "we didn't have our legs going in the beginning, the guys aren't used to skating this early"

That has ZERO percent to do with it. Effort/compete and talent have no correlation or dependency on each other. You can still play like you give a f**k even if you aren't necessarily good at it. Also, let's not pretend like this team doesn't have 2 elite players in Thompson and Dahlin who are plenty "good enough". It's hard to be this bad when you have two elite players along with enough supporting talent around them that seems to play well everywhere else.

go sabres. season isn't over.. we are just two games in. big win here vs a good team would do a lot to help turn this around before it really spirals.

32 Thoughts opened with the Sabres today. Nothing good to say at all. They played Lindy’s clip and mentioned the team being on a short leash with Dahlin and Tage. Fun!

I'm not dismissing that point... As that is part of the game day experience and yeah that needs to get better too. It's just I never really thought about it because as much as we complain about stuff like that and the arena and the seats... That is way, way down on the list of problems with the team at this moment. A two-game winning streak.. outscoring the opponents by five or six goals can turn opinions on the team around pretty quickly, but you're right, even the arena experience they can't get done correctly. I heard some people like the overpriced food though.

Me? I'll be in the air returning to Fort Worth after spending the weekend with my mom in West Seneca. I haven't seen any regular season games yet but apparently that's a mercy.

School/bank holiday (Colmbus/Indigenous People's Day) so they're trying to get the kids out. They do this every season.

I see the anthem singers for other teams and they are uplifting and get the crowd excited from the start. The Sabres have some low energy American Idol wannabes who do nothing to get the crowd into the game. The lowered expectations are set even before the game begins.

It is two games in and he already sounds super exhausted. I just don't get this group. It has to stem from maybe the worst onboarding process in the NHL. And that isn't a knock on Lindy or Donnie. That is on Adams. He just handed the kids the keys to the car.

The frustrating part... Actually that's a bad statement because there are so many frustrating parts... But for a lot of us we don't ask for a lot. Just a little relevance early in the season. To not feel like you're playing Catch up one week into the season. For the first two months of the season, I don't need them to be battling for first overall in the league. To be leading the division... Just have a positive goal differential and just have more points than games played. Two games into the season and those two things look like monumental tasks already.

This is laughable. Nobody cares about the NHL, let alone the worst franchise in that sport. The Sabres are going to toil away in nothingness for eternity or at least until they leave Buffalo.

This is the 5th coach under this regime. They’ve been the same under all of them. What’s been consistent? The owner, the GM and the players. All of which are culpable in this circumstance.

I did just like millions of other people in this country. Why does the NHL schedule day games on days that the majority of people are working? I don’t care too much as I’m not watching this team this season but it feels kinda dumb to schedule your sporting events when a significant portion of the population is still working. Then again this is the short sighted league when they will take any cash grab (in person attendance) over actual long term promotion of the league.

Unfortunately, this cannot be classified as a tank because they actually tried to ice a good team. I think…

I think a lot of people are there already. For different reasons. For some it might be that they want that top pick in the draft... Kind of another version of a tank. For others they want changes, massive changes. General manager, coach, the more people have to go the better. And I think there is a third group of people that is growing. People who just want to feel something with this team. If they are truly awful, at least it gives some emotion and something to talk about.
