I can understand Colorado’s frustration. Not the sort of call that is typically made, tied with 4 minutes left in game 7. Incredible game though.
-
No love for the Stars, but I’m fine with this year’s version of the Avalanche blowing a two-goal 3rd period lead to lose in regulation. My cold Sabres heart was temporarily warmed.
-
I watched the full game too. Martin got the 2G, player of the game (Ivankovic should have got it) and led Team Canada at +4. They haven't updated it, but I think he'll get the tournament lead at +15. I wanted to see him get the hat trick, but TBH he seemed disinterested... I thought he was coasting from about the 5-0 mark. Not sure if that's a cause for concern or a pro given the team had the game won and he's team first? Edit: Here's the final +/- leaders.

Rantanen with a Hatty in the 3rd. Talk about a trade backfiring. Wow.
-
Rat put away the Avs.
-
Yeah, I’m not trying to go against the stars just because I definitely don’t like them as most Sabres fans don’t, but that seemed very unfair to do that with five minutes left in the game seven. If I’m an Avs fan, I’m losing my sh*t rn. Colorado’s coach probably could get fired here now. I’d be just beside myself if I’m one of the avalanche players.
-
Rat says take that.
-
Not only that, but then Drury just got cross checked without a call. It was a fine game without the stripes, but Alas, they need to get some attention.
-
Anyone else think that penalty call was a bit questionable? Especially at this time in a game seven. I feel like it would have to be something absolutely egregious to make that call with five minutes left.
-
Avs collapsing.

Wow....Rantanen delivers in the clutch

You’re absolutely right but you have to start somewhere and he would be a good add to start to build towards that type of culture. Martin isn’t a superstar talent. If he turns into a Peca that would be big. From the talent in the Sabres pipeline I think he would be a good fit as someone that drags his fellow players into the fight.

Friedman believes changes are coming to Sabres Front Office; UPL Available?
JohnC replied to Brawndo's topic in The Aud Club
Adding a Zucker-like player doesn't mean that player is a top two-line player. So, adding a top two line player in addition to a Zucker-like player is doable considering the assets this team has. As an example, trading Byram in a package deal could bring back a top two line player. In addition, Norris is a 2C and will be on the roster. -

Keep Sabertooth out of this. He's the best thing about this team for the last 14 years. -

There's all but a 0% chance this team adds 2 top 6 players this offseason. -

Although I would prefer the dispatch or at least the reassignment of KA, even if he stays this franchise has the assets to parlay to make some impactful deals. My sense is that even if KA remains the GM there is pressure to make deals. Will it be done? I can't say for sure. -
No one player changes a teams culture. You need multiple guys. Also, again caution on Martin. Let's not make him out to be some McDavid level or even Tkachuk level player. Let's under-sell a bit more than over.

What I would like added to your goalie swap is finding a legitimate partner for Power, adding a younger Zucker-like forward and another second-line caliber forward. If that happens on top of the return of Greenway and Norris, then I would consider it a good offseason. None of the moves I'm hoping for are beyond our capacity to accomplish considering the assets we have on the roster and within the system and the cap room to work with. -
Can't say yet. You're asking April questions that have June answers.

Let's go Bandits! The quest for a 3-Peat has begun

I don't get to watch many Bandit games. But last year, I watched a playoff game with a full house of raucous fans. As you aptly described the scene, just watching it on TV I felt the electricity in the arena. If the owner can get his hockey house in order, I'm confident that the Sabres would also be able to replicate the same enthusiasm, if not more. Although our fanbase has become cynical about the franchise and has substantially shrunk due to a generation of failure, I'm confident that it can quickly come back and get behind this team. This is going to be a critical offseason for the Sabres as to whether the organization demonstrates a seriousness about restoring the lost faith in this faded franchise. I really hope so. Being negative is depleting. -

Depends on the move. If the only truly meaningful thing that happened was UPL turning into Swayman, while personally would still want additional roster moves, THAT could be a signal that ownership does care. -

I have posted for a long time arguing that KA is a failure and should be replaced. However, whether he stays or not, the bigger issue this offseason for this lame franchise is what is going to happen with respect to the roster. If there are few meaningful moves to alter/upgrade this roster, then that would be a clear signal that this owner cares little about this franchise and its fanbase. Will there be moves this offseason? Probably so. Will they be meaningful enough to make this roster capable of being a serious team? That's the question that needs to be answered. TBD! -
But we have no idea at all if the Sabres like Martin above the other options to draft him at 7. He did score again tonight for Canada. The Canadian goalie is very good and is up for the draft.Ivankovic Edit: Martin scored again. Canada dog walking Sweden 5-0 in the second period of the Championship game. Id take Martin 7th or 8th over a McQueen. He has a culture changing kind of mentality that the Sabres are in dire need of. A warrior type of player. I wouldn’t be shocked though if a Boston or Philly took him even higher regardless of rankings.
