It's always possible. The lineup is in desperate need of a legit playmaker. Right now there are 12 forwards under contract: Norris, Thompson, Tuch, Zucker, Greenway, Quinn, Lafferty, Krebs, Malenstyn, Benson, Doan and Kulich. McLeod and Kozak are RFAs. That's 14 guys for likely 13 jobs. I'd have no problem at all moving on from Krebs and Lafferty and bringing in an actual playmaker.

I didn’t want them to move Peterka at all. We are a forward short without him(and presumably even were, with him, given your eval on him) - you just said it. But, there’s a reasonable chance at this point they are happy switching Peterka out for Doan, and the big add being Kesselring I think we should prepare for the possibility Kesselring is the big add. we do know Adams really liked him

I know your views on Norris, but that was definitely made with the PP as part of the equation. Last year aside, Quinn has generally been very good on the PP too. Honestly, I think the biggest issue is the coaching.

The organization through its generation of foolishness created its own unattractive destination reputation. The only thing that is going to change that ugly reality is having some success.

Better hope so

2025 NHL Entry Draft Thread, Sabres Draft 9th

I wanted them to move Peterka to maximize return, but i always thought the guy they were going to move was Quinn. Now that Peterka is gone, this makes more sense. Benson is a better and Kulich was more reliable last year, but jack remains the most skilled of our remaining young wingers. Still think the popular thought that Kulich is a shoe-in for a prime role is premature and frankly foolhardy when it comes to 1C

So many 🔥 threads. But we still need goaltending.

Gibson is the answer if Buffalo is the answer for Gibson. What would the cost be? A 2nd and a prospect? UPL and a prospect? -

Isn’t so much more fun talking about potential and made deals than to talk about the organization!!! -
Columbus had to take on a bunch of salary for the floor (Gaudreau); Colorado had to move salary to tinker with their lineup to stay competitive. Win-win. Columbus got better (with Monahan fully healthy again). Colorado will make corresponding moves to get better today and on July 1. Palm trees named McKinnon and Makar grow there.

Would be less painful than waiting for Adams
-
I would hope so, but I'm not going to hold my breath.
-
Ehlers will get $7m/year in tax free states that have palm trees, 7.5m per for ones without palm trees and will turn down $15m/year in buffalo
-
Hopefully 2 .

I'm pretty sure they're in LA, just like the NFL model where all those announcers are at the central location. A quick google search tells me that they're about to start up a tour on the west coast in the next two weeks, so they may very well be out there for that already anyway. I wonder if the teams without a pick have named an announcer... they could do the second round maybe?

The fact that rain, snow, or sleet is falling from the sky has nothing to do with it! -
Still think there's another forward coming.
-
I usually see Quinn on right but ya on the left a lot too. Not worried about the functionality there merely the overall talent and aptitude of the group
-
It's less about the depth chart and more about the ice time. He was 7th among forwards last year if you count Norris and Cozens as one guy. Between the PK, lead protection, and those times we need to get heavy, I expect he'll be up there again.
-
In terms of goals, it might be easy to look at/justify that you need Norris to replace the goals provided by Peterka (do-able), and whatever winger takes his position just needs to replace Cozen's goals. Peterka and Cozens gave you about 40-45 goals (per full season) the last 2 years combined. Can you get that out of Norris and 'someone else', maybe, probabaly.

One team took a long time to become good, but then managed to do so by building a good culture and taking advantage of some absurdly good contracts (Barkov, Ekblad, Bennett, Reino, etc.) and one wild contract that worked out anyway (Bob). The other took a long time to.... and built the youngest team in the league and pittered away the first half or entirety of their absurdly good contracts (TNT, Tuch) and one wild contract because he's a stud (Dahlin).
-
I still think he is going to turn into a legit star. He just needs one season to put it all together and stay healthy.
-
The trading of JJP makes a Robertson deal to be unlikely. I’m not sure what it would take to get Ehlers?
-
It looks like the forward plan right now is to hope a mix of Norris, Benson, Quinn and Kulich replace Peterka’s production. While I hate the JJP trade in general even I will admit that the idea that it is possible for those four if the stay healthy and if the younger guys continue to improve for the offense to overcome the loss of Peterka. That said it’s a typical hope and pray from Adams especially given Quinn and Norris’ injury histories. This looks on paper like another attempt Moneypuck.
