  1. Past hour
  2. This draft selection has the scent of, "Buffalo has TNT, so of course they'd go for another super-tall shooting center -- imagine if they had two of them" and not the realization that the Sabres have already moved TNT to the wing. I'm thinking the Sabres are scared by the back injury (Eichel Redux!) and it's a different team that looks at TNT and says to themselves, "There's an injruy risk, but maybe we can have our own TNT."
  3. Paul Hamilton intimated that some key Sabres personnel, like Jason Karmanos, still live in Pittsburgh. I’m kinda speechless at this point. The Sabres don’t require their employees to actually work in the city the team they are contributing to resides in? Ummm… Maybe the Sabres problems run deeper than we all know.
  4. Not that I don’t agree with you, but to be fair that’s not uncommon in NHL circles. Hasnt everbody’s darling Dudley lived in Buffalo his entire stint with the Panthers and even earlier?
  5. They won't. That team is a patchwork of players. They'll need 3-4yrs to fix it.
  6. Not only success... as it could be argued Eichel/Reinhart/ROR had no success with the Sabres. But, they were far and away the best forward talents on the team and in the two #2s, getting better year-after-year as well. Boston won't make that mistake with McA/Pasta, and they won't move Swayman except to go get a #1 goalie immediately thereafter. I do think Boston would happily have one more down year, get a lottery pick which they'll miraculously win up to get #2 overall (Pitt is in full tank mode and is going 1st with McKenna). And then, maaaaybe, they add Eichel to pair with 2026 #2, 2025 #7, and they're right back into 3rd in the division.
  7. Agree on that. Might be necessery to trow in a 2nd or a 3rd and a 4th to make a trade including Rosen as interesting as the 9th.
  8. So... Staal isn't even moving here, he's just gonna be in and out of town from what's being speculated. What nonsense this is.
  9. Every GM values the unknown more than the known. They could draft a star at 9. Rosen will be lucky to be a 3rd line NHL player.
  10. think it depends on what timeline I have to work with. Is it a rebuilding team I take the pick. Otherwise I take a shot on Rosen.
  11. Lazy player says lazy statement. Towing the SS Pegula Yach PC line. If Pegula was a flavor, he would be great value, sugar free, lactose free Vanilla.
  12. Eric Staal can’t be the lead offseason move. It just can’t. Have a sense of your fans. We all hate the guy. Just bury the news until after something else has been announced. The org has no pulse on the fans. If Marchand retires, they should bring him in as well. The head of Junk Spearing and Face Licking.
  13. Sobotka for motivational speaker?
  14. The position that Staal was hired for is a typical entry level job for a recently retired veteran player that most franchises have. The advantage of this type of hire is that the new employee knows a lot of current players and is tapped in to a lot of coaches he has been involved with. So he should have a lot of information about other players and whether they would be a good fit if pursued. People getting upset over such a standard practice/hiring is perplexing to me. (As your post demonstrates, there is nothing novel about this type of hiring.)
  15. You are an opposing GM, would you want #9 or Rosen?
  16. Why settle for Leino when we can get Kozlov?
  17. 1. Schaefer 2. Misa 3. Frondell 4. Desnoyers 5. Hagens 6. Martin 7. O'Brien 8. Martone 9. McQueen 10. Mrtka Unlikely impo. I think McQueen makes a ton of sense because they are very aware of the guys they have.
  18. You are spot on. They surprised everybody that 3rd year, including themselves, and they almost made the playoffs in the 91 point season. Imagine of they just went out and acquired a true #1 NHL goalie prior to the start of that season? Most teams that rebuild start in the goal he relied on Comrie, and 40 year old goalie. Sadly the vets were: Comrie (9-9-1, 3.67, .886) and Anderson (11-11-2, 3.06, .908). They also played two rookies: UPL (17-11-4, 3.58, .892), and Levi (5-2-0, 2.94). Predictably, Adams went with Levi in his "all in" season the following year and it was a major fail. "No Blockers". He also made cosmetic changes like swapping Lyubushkin for Clifton, and he replaced an injured Quinn who was slated for 2nd line with 18 year old Zach Benson, but no top 6 vet forward was added. Unbelievable. Then he blames the coach for easy practices and the need for more accountability. He is still there too.
  19. Today
  20. Day drinking, are we?
  21. Ville Leino forwards coach
  22. Might as well, if Staal was brought in, why stop there. Just hire everyone Sabres fans hate and stick a fork in them. It’ll make the transition to Kraken fandom really easy.
  23. Of course they have the Flyers taking Martin. Sigh. The worst case scenario, which means it’s most likely to happen, is that they take the least intense / physical player on the board with Martin still available.
  24. If Pegula wanted to raise more money he should have recorded Adams “presentations” to him and then charge people $100 to watch them as a Blue and Gold special. It would be utterly fascinating to see the interactions.😁
  25. One big lesson in the Sabres failed rebuilds is the loss of the players (leaders) that had success wearing the Sabres sweater. Watch Boston rebuild with Pastrnak and McAvoy. They will build around them, they won't tear it down to studs.
