  2. I think it was about $180 million....Now worth $1.42 billion with very little debt. They are worth about $60 million more than last year. He and the team can afford to invest a bit more into it.
  3. The Buffalo Sabres have a bad building, have not made the playoffs in over a decade, and face many of their Canadian fans not crossing the border as much. Yet there are still 4 teams with less revenue than they have, along with about 1/2 of the league within 20%. If the team can upgrade their building in a meaningful way and have a playoff season or two in order to facilitate some fan support, this may actually be a hockey market that is pretty good to support a team in todays market.
  4. Remind me. How much did Terry pay for the team?
  5. https://www.cnbc.com/2025/11/25/cnbcs-official-nhl-team-valuations-2025.html Sabres 31st, ahead of Columbus. I'm a bit surprised, yeah Columbus has Ohio state, but the Blue Jackets are in a bigger city, have a much, much nicer arena and arena district, and have no pro competition in their market. Of course the market size and fan support drive these ratings, but looking at the list the building/facility and how good it is/how much revenue it gernerates seems to be a pretty big factor also. Plus, something surprising, for all we have heard over the years about Canadian cities not being able to compete on a level footing with US cities in the NHL due to taxes and currency, it looks like the Canadian teams are increasing, something drastically, their local TV revenue, while many of the US teams have that going down. The Canadian teams are bringing in a lot more money that way than their US counterparts. (the Rangers took a cut to their local revenue DOWN to $35 million per year, while Montreal's new deal has them getting $70-$75m per year.) I know they have a new Arena, but can someone explain to me how Edmonton led the league in Revenue, ahead of the Rangers, Boston, and even Toronto?

  7. From reading the article (which reads like it’s AI generated?), it sounds like there’s hope he’ll return sooner. Great player. I wish him well. Leads me to wonder if these guys were “over-served” at these team meals.
  8. Hughes isn’t the only “freak” injury, Luostaren injured himself during a barbecue as well.
  9. It’s not expected to. To my knowledge, the handful of expected Team USA players that are injured should all be back in time. Matthew Tkachuk is the biggest maybe.
  10. I mean, we could be in a playoff spot by next week if we win our games.
  11. To get to the .555 that’s been needed for the past 2 years (and .561 the year before), they’d have to play 6-4 over 2 10 games stretches. Even spreading out over the rest of the season, they’d need to play ~.575 averaging between 5-4-1 and 6-4. Stop with the negative mental gymnastics, just keep winning to make april matter and hope they take care of it then
  12. Bad news for him. Real good player. Wonder if this will impact his Olympic participation?
  13. Apparently Hughes had a piece of glass pierced his hand at a team dinner and had to have surgery on a finger that will keep him out about 8 weeks... Guess the Sabres aren't the only team dealing with weird injuries... At least Norris had his injury happen on the ice! https://pucksandpitchforks.com/new-jack-hughes-injury-update-could-provide-a-sliver-of-hope

  15. I'm not taking a sub par offer but I don't have to win the trade either. If the on ice team can get better than it's good for me regardless of what the on paper trade looks like. I don't think they need Norris and I don't think they need 3 goalies so I'm looking at a move there. I also have to have a firm Tuch plan. make a final offer and see what he says. Then act accordingly as you cannot let him walk for nothing like Ullmark. It's scientific and medical. Injured areas are never the same as they were.
  16. I don't disagree with most of that. There were a few early games that had me thinking, hmmm, are they getting it this year? But I didn't want to get too excited and then they started losing in OT etc. and things started to look the same. I still don't see enough fight on the boards and winning puck battles to take them seriously but it does look more like an actual hockey team. It would be nice if they could win some face offs too.
  17. I yelled "NO GOAL!" at fat old Brett Hull from about 15 feet away at a concert ... and by "yelled" I mean muttered, but the guy next to me heard!
  18. I agree about them not having much of a chance for a championship under "McBeane," especially the "Mc" part. If the Bills were in any big market city like NYC, Philly, LA, SF, Dallas, etc, McDermott would have been fired quite some time ago. He more than often gets out coached, especially in close games, and in some cases even when we win he is still out coached. Maybe the only reason McDermott still has his job is because Josh Allen can make any average coach look good. That and because we're a small market city where the media just doesn't put enough pressure on ownership to make a necessary change. As far as Beane, yeah he did great drafting Josh Allen, but for what he's let happen to our corps of wide receivers, he can go too. Even the crappy teams at least have receivers who can get open. All too often when Josh is able to scramble out of the pocket looking for someone for what seems like an eternity, they still can't get open. It's so sad see a superstar quarterback not have the weapons he needs most. It's a miracle that Josh still does what he does with what he has to work with. As far as Brady I can't tell if he'll ever come close to being the elite play caller that so many people thought he would be. Hopefully he will, but everything has become way too predictable. Every team in the NFL has figured it out that James Cook will most likely run on first and ten regardless of the situation. Ugh.
  19. It shows us that “every dog has its day”. That, and that hustle pays off sometimes.
  20. The Edmonton example is linked in there with an article. It took me about 30 seconds to find that article. For the rest, do your own work, the info is out there I'm not digging up anything else to justify my point (the info is out there) The collection of those guys are certainly better than the number of games the Sabres lost with 'top guys'.
  21. Granted they screwed the pooch against CGY, but in general this team is bringing it more often than not. I think the current roster is playoff-worthy, but they're in a hole. On the other hand, more help should come when Kulich and Norris return. And the bottom six is more effective than it's been in years. To be honest, I'm okay with the D situation. Bryson's been playing pretty well.
  22. Regarding the first sentence, is that a scientific or medical opinion or an old wives tale?
  23. I would not be surprised if "Kev-Mo" are getting numerous offers on players. Are any more than just spitballs? I know we are in a big hurry to move certain players but there is no reason to take a sub-par offer just because.
  24. I got really bandwagonesque when we had that win streak with Eichel-Skinner-Reinhart tearing it up. That was the last time. Last few years I've settled into a prove it and show me kind of view. Just don't trust this team to show up every night. It's been calming since so far it's been constant.
  25. He played last game
