  1. Past hour
  2. I think “for the right price”!kinda goes without saying in these kinds of discussions. He’s a talented 24-year-old winger with a ton of question marks. Quinn or Krebs straight across are ballpark offers; the kind of thing that gets done if the buyer and seller have opposite views of depreciated assets. Personally, I don’t do either. A top prospect or a 1st-rounder are too much, let alone 2 pieces; if that’s the ask, Waddell has no interest in trading him.
  3. They’re pretty deep right now with RyJo, Rathbone, Komorov, Novikov, Metsa, and one of Bryson or Zac Jones being sent down. Laaouan got a two year AHL deal so that makes Tischke at least eighth on the depth chart. But injuries happen.
  4. The general point that the commentators seem to be making is that beyond the talent level, which they find within a competitive range, is a mindset and belief that they are a worthy team. It just seems that the psychology of losing has overshadowed this franchise for a very long time. It is said every year but maybe just more so this year is to have a good start and stay in the mix and not have to have the added stress of playing a catch-up game. For me, the most important issue for this team is its goaltending. If it can be at a consistently solid level, then we should vying for a playoff spot. If that doesn't materialize, then this will be another sunk season.
  5. Love love love hearing this. I think he can be that guy too! And ya Byram isnt the biggest guy but he didnt shy away from anything when it came to physicality
  6. Fair enough
  7. OK, my intent was more “maybe it wasn’t sucha bad idea keeping these guys” than “market sucks”. Basically, I think it was in line with “help where you can get it” 🤷
  8. No I just didn’t find your logic very internally congruent towards the end there relative to the other post of yours I gave the thumbs up to i realize they are different situations contextually but I much preferred the “help where you can get it” take Rather than the one that leaned towards “probably wouldn’t help much”
  9. Curious what you dislike there @Thorny Do you think we should have let those guys walk?
  10. Joshua isn't a Top 6 forward; Perry was used for 3 reasons. Grit, vet savvy, and the fact that in his prime he was a Top 6 player. You can't just stick a random tough guy in the Top 6 and expect it to actually achieve anything. Most players in Joshua's category aren't skilled enough to keep up. Additionally physicality means more in the playoffs than the regular season.
  11. He also floated the idea of him playing with Kesselring (which had the hosts going Dahlin Power?) Seemed very happy with adding Kesselring. Said they needed big right-handers and he’s happy they got some. Says the D corps is going to be a strength of the team.
  12. Definitely. The biggest thing for them that worked in their favour and made the suggestion of the “plan” possible was that “long form rebuild, sacrifice now to build your future!” fit in so snuggly with not spending to the cap. The spending is the dictator of strategy. The relaying of the strategy is simply messaging
  13. At least with critics there’s still mind paid to actual film criticism IMDb and anything user related is essentially a poisoned well when it comes to any film or show (see: anything Star Wars) thst even verges on whatever people are defining today as “woke”. or even just the “lore” good god. Toe out of line and a segment of SW fans torpedo the score on mass lmao But if you shoe horn in a deep fake Luke Skywalker kicking ass: masterpiece
  14. nah you see, we had to leave cap in case of a mythical offer sheet for Byram or something
  15. It’s amazing they always want to leave cap for guys that have never won anything here. Atleast that’s how they spin it. Reality is it’s an internal cap
  16. Tischke previously played for the amerks and was playing for the icemen last year. I would be surprised if he didnt play a handful with the amerks next year
  17. Skinner is 4.44mil, idk how they are mathing but there's 7.39mil in cap space before Timmins deal gets done. Idk what the 10million number is or how accounting for skinner puts you at 8. You still have to pay Jeff Skinner whether you're a serious or crappy owner. around 5.5-6mil will be left after Timmins is signed, that's accurate.
  18. Maybe even “middle(!) 6” if we are lucky oooo middle 6
  19. Today
  20. This new fellow however you spell his name would fall under a “no stone unturned” mindset and it’s the correct tact to take. you know, enemy of perfect/good? can’t let “not a guarantee of improvement and probably not a ton if any” be the enemy of “a chance for improvement” This team isn’t in a position historically to turn its nose up at a single grain of rice
  21. If it simply was Krebs for him I would be open to a deal. The Columbus player is not someone I would stretch too far to get.
  22. Yeah, that was supposed to be Alex Tuch.
  23. Love it. Put them together and if it works like it did last year, don't spend a second worrying about whether Bryam would work with a different partner.
  24. Obviously I agree with your logic and strategy but I’m putting in my “you always leave out assists for some reason” disclaimer for posterity
  25. I personally don't think the Sabres have a depth issue at forward. Certainly not like they did two off-seasons ago, when Quinn was injured. That year they went into camp with a hole in the forward group that they intended to fill with the rookie who had the best camp. It ended up being Benson. This year, there is no spot being left open for the highest performing 18-20 year old in camp. There isn't even a spot open for Rosen, who at 22 and having been a scoring leader in the AHL, should be in-line for a middle-6 opportunity on a line with actual NHL players. I would have no great issue if we traded a 3rd or Rosen or Kozak or the like for Chinakhov; I wouldn't myself, but if it happens it won't register for me as material to the goal of Playoffs-2026. It just isn't what the Sabres need. I think, to become a playoff team, we need to trade some combination of Kulich, Quinn, a prospect, a high draft pick, for Necas or Rossi or McTavish, who would upgrade our top 6.
  26. None of the above for me. He's second or third round pick territory. Maybe some depth from Rochester, but not Helenius. And *not* Krebs.
