I think they take a centre: O’Brien, Martin, McQueen whichever one is there.

Jay McKee coaches O’Brien and Leenders was his goalie so Buffalo will have a lot of viewings/intel on O’Brien

I would hope that we have a lot of viewings of that team regardless of who we previously drafted. They’re practically in our backyard.

Yep.  Nothings going to happen tonight.

It's perfectly okay to actually use the pick.

You can still trade a prospect after you draft him.

Would rather pick at 12 and send Pit 9 and rosen for Rust

So I get 12 and Rust for 9 and Rosen?

Of course - I’m just expecting it to be in a trade package like you saw Montreal make today.

My expectations have plummeted.

I think Dobson was willing to extend in Montreal.

Right - I don’t necessarily mean I was expecting him.

Could be a package for anyone.  Specifically one including Byrum.

Kyrou sounds like a possibility. He's a rw though. I still wonder about Columbus in this trade.

I’m 99.9% sure we’re making this pick at 9 tonight so if we do I hope it’s Roger McQueen or the big Russian RHD. (I think he’s Russian??). Then I want Dahlin, Kesserling, McQueen and Thompson to beat the living hell out of Power until he’s tough enough to handle it.

He's Czech. I assume you mean mrtka.

Yeah but now that we got Kesserling I’m not as high on selecting D

The only D i draft at 9 is Smith.  Otherwise it's a forward

Leave it to the Sabres to have Johnny and Robbie go to One Bills Drive to make their big announcement (or go to whereever the heck Bettman and Daly are at) only to say, thanks for coming guys but we aren't picking today.

THAT would be awesome!

Im not that interested in Rust to be truthful.

Exactly, if he's a UFA, awesome.  However, any Pittsburgh fan who think he's worth much more than a 2nd and Rosen, is ludicrous to me.

I'm pretty sure they're in LA, just like the NFL model where all those announcers are at the central location.  A quick google search tells me that they're about to start up a tour on the west coast in the next two weeks, so they may very well be out there for that already anyway.  I wonder if the teams without a pick have named an announcer... they could do the second round maybe?

Saw this snippet. He will need to add about 10-12 lbs of muscle but has a good frame. I can be down with it.

https://www.mckeenshockey.com/nhl-blog/brady-martin-biggest-riser-2025-nhl-draft/#:~:text=Ranked 11th among North American,maybe even the top five.&text=At McKeen's Hockey%2C Martin climbed,high on Martin all year.

Asked who he compares himself to:

“Zach Hyman. He’s pretty fitting for the way I play—just really competitive and he can score goals too,” Martin said. “He’s a wrecking ball out there.”

At the NHL Draft Combine, the 6-foot- 0, 187-pound centreman described himself as a blend of Tom Wilson and Sam Bennett. For anyone who watched him help Canada capture gold at the U18 Worlds in May, the comparison rings true.
