You have to remember the situation back then. Soviets were the evil empire and the enemy and the '72 Summit Series was still pretty fresh in our minds. The intensity leading up to that game was incredible. It was one the most exciting games in Sabres history. Nothing wrong with that.
I have no confidence that they will fix anything. This same thing was said last lockout and in a few years we are back to holding, interference, trap defense and less scoring.
There are only 16 games, they all matter. Here in Philly Eagles haven't played great but they are 2-0. Record is all that matters. Bills won yesterday.
I think someone mentioned this earlier but the Rangers and Flyers do not seem to have a problem handling ridiculous contracts. The Flyers signed Bryzgalov last year. They still have Briere's contract. Signed Hartnell and Simmonds to 6 years deals and signed Weber to $100M + offer sheet.
