I said nothing about what response would be better, just what the legalities are. I sat on a jury pool and they discussed some aspects of the case and this is exactly the scenario they discussed pre-trial and they said if someone said they felt threatened they can swing first and it's still considered self defense. I thought that when I expressed a sentiment similar to yours they'd throw me off the jury but they didn't.

I've been thinking about it and... it doesn't bother me that teams in the pack around the Sabres are winning their share of games. I think it will motivate the Sabres to scratch and claw for every point. I don't want them to feel too cocky. Yet.

Meanwhile, in Dallas (warning: F-bombs): And for the record, Texas is a stand-your-ground state. It doesn't matter who swung first, if you feel threatened you're allowed to defend yourself. Which the little boy apparently didn't know when he challenged the guy.

I be goin' a bit stir crazy meself. Drivin' me nutzo. On the plus side I was able to work a couple evenings this week which helped me get caught up... without missing any Sabres action. Plus I got my IKEA kitchen mostly designed.

I tend to have one current Sabres jersey. When that player leaves I eventually get one by another player, but there are gaps. I have a Perreault (bought long after he hung up the skates), a Stafford Slug, a Reino and a Tage. I wore the Sluggo to last year's game in Dallas.

@Brawndo lives three minutes in the future. I would have liked to see him on the Sabres at one point but the team has moved on and he's gotten older.

I would say that of all the Sabres, Jeff is the most clearly happy of them all. Every interview, even when the game didn't go well, he just has this contented calm about him. I don't mean he's complacent because the effort is there (it was there even when RFK put him on the fourth line). I think he does the best he can and his conscience is clear. He's happy. And it's the kind of happiness that rubs off on his teammates.
