  1. I imagine players that declare their eligibility want to play in that league, and they'll know that comes at a the risk that they play in a town not of their choosing. Life event logistical bonus: the draft occurs one year before their senior year is over, so they have a year to plan their move. It's probably not that different from drafting Russian players and asking them in pre-draft interviews about staying in the K. Aye.
  2. Clyde Stubblefield's got you covered. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dNP8tbDMZNE Famous break at 5:30.
  3. It's got potential. I appreciate the sword-iness. I also appreciate the homage of each team's logo to the men's pro league logo of that city. It's a nice move in the direction of equality and synergy. The Beauts could rock the Sabres' 40th anniversary jersey and look pretty damn good doing it.
  4. Keep in mind that if Arizona and Edmonton win enough and we clinch the 30th, everyone, tankers or not, can start rooting for the Sabres to win again. It'd be really nice to be able do that. But until then.
  5. Nice. The pipeline of talented young Canadian and American (and other!) women hockey players has been opening up pretty wide over the past dozen years, and it's high time for a real pro opportunity for post-grads and post-juniors. Puck Daddy writeup. Ruggiero's involved, that's a good thing. At the very least, it's going to be an entertaining league that has cheap tickets and cheap beer. At best, it'll grow to be a legit pro league that showcases the sport and inspires young players.
  6. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_bxn5EQwJIk Maloney, you magnificent bastard! I read your book!
  7. Edmonton now has 55P with eight games left to go. Buffalo has 47P with nine games left to go. If Edmonton loses out, Buffalo would have to gather nine points (0.500) or better to get bumped. Our last ten is 1-7-2 (0.200). We're getting closer.
  8. But our owner is also part Mr. Rogers. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=98wVFsIt-MQ
  9. And yet I think in reality, OEL is the only piece that the Yotes would be unwilling to part with under any circumstance.
  10. That's insanity. But I'd do it. It's not even close. It'd be: Buffalo gets: the next Mike Modano, OEL, Domi, Perlini, and the Yotes 2016 1st Yotes get: the next Sidney Crosby, and a low 2nd. The difference between McDavid and Eichel is not big enough to envelope even OEL (that's how good OEL is), let alone OEL plus what will assuredly be a top-ten (possibly even a top-three) 2016 pick. Then toss on Domi and Perlini. But if that deal is made, Buffalo is launched into contention within two years. The back end with OEL, Bogo, Risto, Zad, Pysyk, Gorges, and McCabe is bonkers (three top ten overall picks, two mid 1st rounders, one should-have-been late first rounder). You draft a skilled winger in '16, make a move for a goalie (Gorges?), and then you have this crazy young, crazy skilled team with an improvement in net. Give them one or two battle-hardened seasons, and they're a top-four team.
  11. Bills have spent an NFL-high $91.5M in guaranteed money this offseason. Pegula talks about offseason moves.

  13. I'm reading that Cole's also has a McEichel Burger: Canadian and American Bacon with Cheese and Poutine. Looks godly.
  14. Craig Button on Eichel: "he's the best player in NCAA hockey right now." McDavid Consensus Top Pick in NHL.com Mock Drafts
  15. Methinks we should have tank GDTs for Arizona and Edmonton.
  16. CINCO PUNTOS! JAJAJAJAJA!

  18. That's fair, I was quick to post. I'll post his quotes.
  19. Vanek perhaps would have re-signed with the Islanders if they weren't moving to Brooklyn.
  20. Troof. We probably only need to average 5-6 shots for more per game (+21-26%)and reduce shots against by 3-6 shots per game (-8-17%). I think that could be accomplished with a healthy defense corps of Bogo, Gorges, Pysyk, Risto, Zad, Weber, and McCabe, a healthy Zemgus, and the addition of three more 20+ goal scorers, one of which could be McEichel or a (re-)emergence of any of the following: CoHo, Foligno, Larsson, Reinhart. And I seriously don't understand how this is still a close race in the standings. Goaltending? Maybe it's goaltending.
