Draft Lottery, what would make you more "nervous"?
IKnowPhysics replied to mjd1001's topic in The Aud Club
It would be nice to get McDavid, but it doesn't have to be that way. I'm not too worried about who else gets him, but, generally speaking, the Leafs, Flyers, Hurricanes, and Stars can off. -
I think most of us should have seen this already: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RUY6lDja-DE

If Arizona: Collects zero points, Sabres finish last with anything BUT 2-0-1 or 3-0-0. One regulation loss would clinch it. Collects one point, Sabres finish last with anything BUT 3-0-0. One SO/OTL or regulation loss would clinch it. Collects two points, Sabres finish last, period. Sabres play Monday, Friday, and Saturday. (CAR, @CBJ, PIT) Phoenix plays Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday. (@CGY, @VAN, ANA) Buffalo: vs CAR 1-2-0 vs CAR at home 1-1-0 CAR is 3-4-3 in their L10. vs CBJ 1-2-0 at CBJ 1-0-0 CBJ is 9-1-0 in their L10 (nine game winning streak) vs PIT 0-3-0 vs PIT at home 0-1-0 PIT is 3-6-1 in their L10 ARI vs: CGY 3-2-0 CGY at CGY 0-2-0 CGY is 5-3-2 in their L10 VAN 3-2-0 VAN at VAN 0-2-0 VAN is 5-4-1 in their L10 ANA 0-5-0 ANA at ARI 0-2-0 ANA is 7-3-0 in their L10

I think the Blackhawks and the Islanders were the better teams, regardless of Sabres personnel or coaching.

That's beyond my desired effort level on this lazy Saturday afternoon.

He's been looking real good lately. I look forward to him taking it to the next level next season.

Hawks casters are generally classy enough to not kick a team's teeth in when they're down.

Maybe, Toews was on the back end of what seemed like a five minute shift, late in the third, in a back to back game, after almost scoring a natural hat trick.
-
Oh, that's good tankin'. Pro level.

Let me tell something about this guy... HE HAS HERPES!
-
Any player that scores a GTG or GWG will be traded to Edmonton or Phoenix.
-
Mathematically speaking, if true, that means a team couldn't trade #3 overall and #4 overall for #2 overall or #1 overall. Sort of sets up the impossible price of trading up.
-
Yep, if we finish 29th, there's a 33.5% chance we draft top two. Still an unacceptable risk, imo.

Good story. Pardon me, but what the . I can imagine if they're in the "it's all going to be ok no matter what happens" or "we have no control over our place in the standings- the players do" mentalities. The questions are if they're equally big on the guys available at 3 or 4 (of course they're not) and whether can they justify that (they can't). The blue print calls for taking shots at drafting elite talent. Not very good talent. We have an opportunity presented to us and we need to execute.

Do we take Hanifin over Strome?
-
I don't think you heard me; I said Just kidding. Yes. Technically, we should be able to tie in points. But I don't trust those catfishin' dickbags in the league office. I want a mathematical difference in points with no explanations required.

We can go as good as 1-4-1. I've stopped caring in what order this can happen. I've also stopped caring about ROWs. If we have to beat the Leafs at home, so be it. But that means no more winning, even on fan appreciation day.

I'd say that the GM is primarily responsible for driving the tank (and has been successful so far). The players and coaches haven't really had to throw games yet, nor should they have- the standings haven't truly demanded it. I think Nolan is right to instill a work ethic and culture in the team all season long. But I think there could be some sort of secret nuclear tank option we haven't seen yet, and may actually never see if we keep losing the usual way. I don't know what it is, though. Maybe successive over the glass delay of game penalties.

Hadn't considered before: I wonder if the players or coaches are in on it. I wonder if the threshold for them not trying is being in a position to win and move to 29th. We haven't seen that yet (at least not when it's mattered). Maybe as long as they're 3 points or greater out from 29th, they keep trying, then when it's really close, they'll blow it. The concept is reminiscent of the media's questioning of Murray before the salary cap floor. They kept asking how he was going to meet the salary floor, and he kept laughing. When it got down to brass tacks, he said he expected to have no problem getting players to take his money, and thus the salary floor was a non-issue. He was right. Maybe the players and coaches are allowed to keep trying until they threaten the tank. Kind of difficult to imagine, but maybe it isn't be a problem to find players that want to take the easy way out of a game and lose- but only when it really matters.
