  1. Kiddie dinner tonight...boy and i went to see Red Tails..popcorn,Sprite,Sour Patch ...10 year old dream dinner. Btw,movie sucked,Just finished game on dvr, it sucked, and the popcorn too salty and sucked...a trifecta of suckdom
  2. Below from my kids swim team..this lady went off the blocks, flip turns the whole thing. Now to me this is fantastic!! WE HOSTED A DIFFERENT KIND OF MEET THIS WEEKEND . . . for masters swimmers, and what made it special was that the timing duties were handled by NOVA swimmers. A hearty salute to the swimmers from (mostly) Diane’s groups who worked the meet. As Diane noted in an e-mail, a highlight of the meet was the participation of 99 year old Marie Kelleher. She holds the world records in 50 & 100 free and she was discussing with Diane her plans to become the world’s first 100 year old swimmer. Marie works out 4 X a week at 5 AM BEFORE GOING TO WORK ! I’m sure Marie won’t mind my saying that she works for the family business, Kelleher Corporation, a local heating, cooling, plumbing and electrical services firm. Insert a WOW ! anytime and anywhere you want.
  3. That actually sounds pretty good..maybe even a tad good for you?? Baked ziti last night..but Turtles for desert..VD present from the wife...love me some Turtles!
  4. Left over braised chichen thighs and a salad for lunch.
  5. Saturday was always steak night in our house growing up. Course, it was a family steakk, done under theh broiler, and Mom and Dad would always have their Catawba Pink with dinner. Then the old man would take a think piece of Italian bread, but a 1/4 inch slab of butter over the whole thing, then pour the drippings on top..fat on fat!!! He did live to 84 and was never overweight..so there ya go. Steak frites at home tonight..
  6. Thats cause you are using the wrong seasoning..try one of these instead of Old Bay in every recipe, and especially on crab or steamed shrimp..way better than the Old Bay. Worth evey penny, and the cream of crab soup, for coming out of a can, is excellent. http://www.wyeriverseasonings.com/
  7. dude..lamb than goat..in Nova Scotia???what am i missing. I love goat in almost all shapes and forms..including cheese :P Spaghets with white clam sauce tonight......though I usually like littlenecks and all the fish monger had was cherrystones...give er a go anyway
  8. there is a shortage of perfect breats in this world, would be a pity to damage yours
  9. Having brick chicken with roasted bruseel sprouts, baby reds and carrots for dinner. In terms of wings, first let me say frying is always best. Having said that i do use Alton Browns method of steaming the wings first, letting them rest for at least an hour, then putting in a 450 oven..the steaming gets quite a bit of the fat out of the wing, making the baked wing almost taste fried and nice and crisp..or as close to it as you can get. I also loved the smoked wings..
  10. Dude, duck wings...thar sounds so friggen good..were they really expensive? What was the meat like..i know the skin was awesome. Beer dinne was good, but they had to switch out a few beers. But, the Dubbel with the Ribeye was a standout. First time i have ever had a beer with a steak that i tought was as good or even better than a nice cab.
  11. MMM, I love lamb stew, but have never vmade at home. If you have a winner of a recipe, would love to get in a PM! Beer dinner tonight at my club, here is the menu. Never have had any of these beers..any comments on them? Also this is deal of the century at $39 .. Course 1 Seafood Gougere Chesapeake Bay Crab, Shrimp & Rockfish Filled Pastry Featuring: Fuller Organic Honey Dew, UK Course 2 Artichoke Salad Pan Roasted Artichokes, Mizuna Salad & Hazelnut Vinaigrette Featuring: Boulder Singletrack Amber Ale, Colorado Course 3 Marinated Ribeye Brown Ale Marinated, Roasted Ribeye B russels Sprout, Pancetta & Apple Sauté, Roasted Parsnip Puree & Spiced Fig Demi Glace Featuring: Maredsous Dubbel, Belgium Course 4 Dessert Trio E spresso Creme, Dark Chocolate Truffle & Chestnut Soufflé Featuring: Birrificio del Ducato Sally Brown Oatmeal Stout
  12. Dude that sounds great. Authentic mexican taqueria open down the road a while back..usually i get the carnitas, got the tongue last time...wonderful. Next time I get 2 of each(they are pretty small). Tonight, steak ah poivre(Sp) with smashed roasetd potatos and frozen peas. The steak i have done numerous times, first time on the taters..both from Americas Test Kitchen cookbooks. I like those. Trying to decidde on the wine..the Tate Ball Buster or the Decoy..can't go wrong with either for a Wednesday night. Having a 60 minute now while cooking..wifey poo made key lime pie last night, so that is for desert. CHZ, I am on of the ones gunna die early?????? First time i have been home for a Sabre game in like 3 weeks..actually looking forward to watching these knuckleheads after dinner
  13. Had Maggianos spaghetti and meatballs..bout the same as the chinese  Wife buys two of them cause so we can have leftovers Tuesday..hah jokes on her, I am traveling on Tuesday and not home :P But this evening I will be sampling some fine Troegs beer at their new brewpub in Hershey if anyone is up that way. :P
  14. Not familiar wit this place..is it in Buffalo? For lunch today, had a BLT with bread from DiCammilos in the Falls..tomatos not so great but damn that bread can make anything taste good. Pot Roast and root vegtables for dinner toning..Drumsticks for desert :worthy:
  15. none of these things take longer than 10 minutes prep...and all can be done ahead of time except for the steak and last little bit of carrots, so when guests get here we can tip a few instead of cooking. Speaking of which, having a Mad Elf now before they get here cause i don't like to share them LOL Btw Korab, loved Fortunas as a kid...do they still have the fountain? Was not far from the Johnny Ryan bottling plant if i remember correctly from the mid 70's LOL
  16. posting early as will not be on during dinner.. having fresh figs stuffed with goat cheese, balsamic, and red pepper , grilled and wrapped in proscutto for apps..sound compliated but takes 5 minutes and is awesome. Marinated Griiled hanger steak, turnip gratin, and glazed baby carrots for entree Espresso Panno Cotta for desert. all this stuff really easy to make. Been away for two weeks..missing cooking
  17. Honey Maid Cinnamon Roll Thin Crisps and coffee on Soutwest flight.BTW, wifi on the plane(did not know soutwest had it) and only $5
  18. Agreed on your points..as mentioned like the founders red rye pa much better..but was there really a better choice at the Food Lion? only port in a storm sometimes lol
  19. my gut is they are pushing it pretty hard right now with intro pricing. I live in Richmond Va, and it is in the grocery stores there, was in San Fran this week and had in the deli there, and in Orlando for the weekend, and the Publix had it really on sale for $12 for a twelve...
  20. not quite the begiums you are discussing, but have been drinking a bit of the new Rye from Sierra. Rouge i think it is called. Do not like it quite as good as the Founders Rye, but the local Kroger has it , and for $15 a twelve, good alue for money as the Euros like to say
  21. drinking an Allagash White next to the hotel pool in Orlando after a good, line free day at Universal.Have some Lays Classic Kettle chips and Marcona Almonds as snacks. No worries about missing tge game tonight..Sabres doing e a favor with their suckitude.
  22. My Christmas haul was pretty simple. Case of The Mad Elf from Troegs..love this beer in the winter, usually only have one at a time. anybody have ideas if this might bea good beer to cellar for a bit? http://www.troegs.com/our_brews/mad_elf_ale.aspx 2 Bottles of the Delirium Noel. Have yet to try
  23. Dude, soory to hear that. I know we all hear the stories..but in April they found the real aggresive form of lung cancer in my brother, it had moved to his lymph nodes, and thet gave him 6-8 weeks. After a tough road of chemo and radiaiton, he his almost cancer free as we speak. I am not a religious dude..but I am certain positve thoughts helped him get to this point. Now to my minor complaint warm enough here that I had to freaking cut the grass today(wifey poo having a party here tonight)..and the oaks still have not dropped all their leaves..so did the lawn, wind picked up..now I got leaves all over my lawn again
  24. I am so friggen done with the Kroger I shop not having any good bread left at 4.30. I cannot eat friggen white bread with any meal, let alone dinner. If you always run out of baguettes at 3.00, maybe you should make some more. The place is right close to the house, so I keep going there..but this is really starting to piss me off.
  25. Your right there, and I have called Henrico County police and complained. I understand its not his choice..guess i was shooting the messenger
