  1. mixed curling league , Tuesday nights 6:45 and 9:00 pm true.. In southern Ontario there are 150,000 registered curlers. Challenge anyone to try it, it a great game.
  2. This game was a mechanical one, team putting in place things they practicing on as a group. Clearly not the flow of guys used to working with each other. More of the same in upcoming game. Zero can be told by them, game against Finland perhaps of more consequence.
  3. good grief, injured player crawls to bench , they can't blow a whistle.
  4. For Canada such a game has to be more about working learning each other , system. A close win they criticized , a beat down they rubbing it in, they win it obvious they should, they lose a huge embarrassment . Funny looking at team management when goal went in, not a blink of eye , a gesture. In the end it about getting some ice time together , no injuries. May not be such a bad thing for U.S team to face Russia next, would rather see what my adversary has early than late.
  5. in Canadian radio discussion hosts saying Canadians generally would be more enthused it Canada won Gold medal. Personally I would not trade a Leaf Stanley cup or a Sabre one for that matter. No doubt these Olympics will shape upcoming NHL playoffs, for some to the negative, that sucks in my opinion.
  6. i am sure they are all beautiful inside....
  7. Question posed on Canadian radio discussion. Would you be alright with a player on your favorite team got injured but it resulted in Olympic team winning a gold medal , would you be ok with that.? Supposing for discussion sake Sabres were a team heading for playoffs with a shot, Miller got injured but his play resulted in a team U.S gold medal, would you be while greatly disappointed with injury obviously, in big picture be more elated at a U.S gold medal, the Sabres season taking a back seat for this?
  8. i did not see this but heard guys on radio. Suppose the young ladies can get flustered they were playing the world champions arguably the best team. Not something I like to see frankly, competitors being embarrassed in what is a life time experience. Hopefully they will regroup and do better. what I am finding interesting about Olympics is the number of athletes who have coaches from other countries, nations coaching them, training them. See a Canadian speed skater with a Chinese coach, a Chinese skater with a Canadian coach couple of such examples. Competition seems a world event of athletes using the attributes of entire world as opposed to having a singular individual national one.
  9. curling is a fine sports to observe http://sports.yahoo.com/news/anna-sidorova-now-wants-to-turn-heads-with-her-curling-132937978.html and what on earth is with U.S team giving up a seven in one end a Olympic record. Given each team throws eight stones each they achieved the next to impossible .
  10. yes that was my intent , it obvious trade intentions cannot be tipped either way , but they can give fans opportunity via Team U.S. A send off.
  11. do wonder though, with the possibility that Miller may be playing his last game as Sabre at home, will team give fans opportunity to honor him perhaps being showing him as Member of team U.S.A and encouraging those attending to honor a team U.S.A member and offering a supportive sendoff to the Olympics. It would give chance for fans to say thank you.
  12. New General Manager has said his plan not a five year one, but expects after two upcoming drafts to see be in mix or substantially improved. Given players in minors on the cusp, a number drafted over the next few years, free agency, trades, it likely the roster could be turned over almost completely in not to distant future .
  13. after last nights loss to Detroit , Tortorella , "We need to change the complexion of our hockey club, either with our play or with different people because we looked like a slow hockey team tonight," Tortorella said. "We are going to keep banging away to try and get better, but I tell you it is very frustrating to see the same looks. It worries me, I'll leave it that. It really worries me." think if you GM you have talk with this guy, these comments after Tortorella makes jackass out of self and organization getting suspended for his hall way antics. http://www.fannation.com/truth_and_rumors/view/411973
  14. Have mixed emotions regarding Olympic hockey. No doubt each Olympics great hockey is played. My concern at times is with the competition between nations as opposed to individuals from all nations on individual times competing as in NHL , the bad feeling between nations that can ensue, troubles me. NHL games we see great players working together on their respective teams, while regular season can become boring at times, the current tournament that is the NHL playoffs, each year also compelling. It a marvel how at end the two left standing compete for Cup. Canada average at best in goal, do not have the great goalie this time around. U.S do not have it at Center Ice. Both going in stand 4 - 5 U.S better in goal thus 4, Canada 5, with Sweden , Russia , Finland ahead, with Sweden winning gold, Russia Silver, and Finland bronze. Finland though could surprise.imo
  15. Regarding Frazier, it not he a nightmare, he actually had a career season last year, has been injured much of this season, with addition of youth, and recently Gleason there is not a spot for this player given he and Edmonton coach have had a good relationship and they needing a 6th on the blue line who is a stay at home guy and does offer needed toughness it a decent trade for Edmonton and a kindness by Leafs who did not have a place for him. Frazier actually a very excellent character guy who because of this gets some considerations others perhaps would not. And yes it does give Leafs some wiggle room in terms of adding another player. He not a nightmare far from it , he a good not exceptional but hard working guy.
  16. ponder if Miller desired to stay in Buffalo and team sincerely wanted him why a deal not done a long time ago. Apart from Miller gambling his stature after Olympics will be higher and he get better contract, got to think Miller will be gone, both he and team looking for the right time and place to their respective best advantage.
  17. was thinking that today as i out and about. No doubt this winter thus far has been tough, but each season does have its beauty, we can spend our looking for the negative and find it, or we can look for the beautiful and find it. Looking out over a snow covered farm field, early morning - 25 f , sun dogs arcing around sun such a beautiful site. Mother 102 years old spending time together still experiencing such things together is such a privilege
  18. the past few weeks with the extreme below zero temperatures sun rise and sunset in my area a number of early mornings and evenings have featured "Sun Dogs" these rainbow like colors that arc on both sides of sun, beautiful they are awesome see. When visible, sundogs are always seen horizontally just to the right or left of the sun. They look like a shiny, iridescent patch of cloud, about the size of the sun. In fact they're sometimes called mock suns because the real sun may be hidden behind a cloud. When sunlight, which is made up of all the colors of the spectrum, hits the ice crystals in the cloud, it bends a little. The ice crystal acts as a prism, separating the sunlight into different colors and forming a sundog. Rainbows are basically the same type of thing, except that in rainbows it is raindrops that serve as prisms instead of ice crystals.
  19. It unfortunate in my opinion but Torts will get a substantial fine and somewhere between three and five game suspension. Hartley not a thing. What happened between periods as a image for hockey was clown like , Torts lost it and will pay. To some it endearing to have a emotional guy, at times there is a price as he does go to far. It sucks like much in hockey where the instigator incites a reaction and goes free. Will be interesting though to see how this impacts Vancouver as a team, does it play well in the dressing does it motivate to be better. I agree with others that Torts had no alternative but to respond in kind given who Calgary started. Had he started his talent guys they got rag dolled all over the ice, Torts would have been branded a fool for doing so. Torts will pay the price and its possible in the end a team that to date has under performed just might have been awakened , come together a much stronger force. Mind you with Olympic break, this changes the entire dynamic of playoff race , and playoffs. imo Was a time this would have been entirely on Hartley , game would have featured a few punch outs, Hartley losing cred around the league for bush act of his starting lineup. Today the course of action is to turtle or pay the price. Sometimes it best to pay the price if you going to be a team, a coach , sucks as it does (unfortunate Burnside is not allowed in meeting Torts and commissioner hearing so we can read what was truly said)
  20. It seems both player and team the most desired route is to find agreement in contract extension , rather than go to free agency. Hockey does not have the mad money that baseball has for instance. Got to think by now team would be aware of what Miller intent would be regarding free agency and it not in either player or team to make this public knowledge. New general manager has stated he expects team after two more drafts it reasonable to expect a substantially improved team, he not of the mind of a five year re build of some such thing. 5 yrs @ $7.5 would seem the figure he going to expect and get, particularly if he has success in Olympics. A Olympic hero obviously a large marketing feature for any team. This the crap shoot for Miller, success he writes his own ticket failure and the negatives will come. Providing his person does work in the room, great goalies do not grow on trees, it would seem reasonable to ascertain if he want to sign or no and get the process moving at the most beneficial time for team.
  21. \ was inspiration of post. food for thought
  22. this story tells just how in tough Maurice may be...http://www.sportsnet.ca/hockey/jets-coach-maurice-in-tough-with-kane-byfuglien/ two best players appear to be immature, selfish weenies.
  23. Hopefully this issue will not be played out in the media by either player or management. It one thing for a young player to believe in themselves , this a good thing, but like it or no he does need accept what management thinks is best direction and place for this player currently. Going down kicking not a bad thing, hardly should anyone expect he is going to like the demotion, but in the end like it or no hopefully shortly we will hear from he that he is disappointed in decision , does not agree , but will go down. Huge difference obviously between NHL pay cheques, , lifestyle ect.
  24. truth , yes I did.. living in country because of the dark , it a good location to view them.
