  1. If Kane were to get traded, the return would need to be significant at this point. Like, a solid top 4 LHD player or a similar prospect +.
  2. Samson with the throwback goathead hat on the post game.
  3. I agree wholeheartedly. He seemed every bit a guy who was a physical FREAK, but didn't have his heart in the game. No shame in that, really.
  4. I enjoy it when subjective recollection of the anecdotal is offered to trump the statistical. Anyway: He's likely broken, and he ain't coming here if he has any say in it.
  5. What a hoot. I can recall a variety of isolated things from the 70s, but, based on this factoid, it's clear to me that my first real true memories of the Sabres started around that 1979-1980 series and that 1980 playoff series. I remember Gare getting to 50 that season. And then I remember thinking: Man, we got Perreault, Martin, this young turk GARE - we are gonna win it all! Agreed. But good luck reducing the number of games. Because money.
  6. Seriously? Man - I do not recall that.
  7. As do I - one of my earlier, clear memories of the team (I mean, my memories pre-date 1979-1980 - but they're fuzzier). Gilbert in his prime. Gare scored 50+. Beat the Canucks in round 1 and then swept the Blackhawks, I believe. And, man, we should've won the Cup that year - but we could not get out of the semi's, as the Islanders were just too much.
  8. Well, that site's information may be slightly inaccurate. More recently, the Fox broadcast pegged his 4th quarter rating as a bit higher than 100. As Fox graphic shared on Sunday, Romo’s 102.9 passer rating in the fourth quarter is the the highest of all time. All time — as in, better than Elway, better than Montana and better than Brady. Also, this subreddit had some interesting numbers to consider: https://www.reddit.com/r/cowboys/comments/1w8gwg/tony_romo_in_the_4th_quarter_by_the_numbers/
  9. Yep. It's true. I was exercising pretty regularly for the past couple of years - but it was just a moderate workout of about 30 minutes a day. And, eventually, I wasn't really getting the stress relief I felt I needed. So I upped the ante 3 days of the week - I go as hard as seems reasonable for my doughy sedentary ass (I mean, I don't want to pass out, or worse). The difference has been pretty remarkable.
  10. I can only recommend exhausting workouts as a potential aid.
  11. I try not to be pedantic. But when it comes to distinguishing between rappers from the 80s and 90s, I can't help myself.
  12. I won't dispute that he's become injury-prone, borderline broken. But the botched snap didn't set a tone, it created a narrative - an apparently false (or at least misleading) one. There are dozens of thoughtful posts out there on the 'net that establish that Romo, throughout his career, performed at a high or even elite level in situations where the pressure is presumably the greatest - 4th quarters, OTs, second half deficits, etc.
  13. Fast and often fun to watch, but seems so under-sized. McDermott runs a 4-3, though - right? Could be a fit.
  14. Hey - thanks kindly for doing so. Look forward to seeing more of your posts here! Also: I like the avatar.
  15. Saw it Tweetered: Physical skill sets of NHL goalies all fairly similar. The main difference between those who become reliable #1's (or better) is mental. Whether you can maintain a level, come to each game with a fresh and new focus, etc. Makes sense. Oh, the writer (Davis?) also added that Lehner's now shown he _can_ do it, now it's a question of whether he will, over time.
  16. (occurs to me: you're totally the hoff there.)
  17. Ah, gotcha. Not statistically significant, or something like that. Well - maybe. I'll take what I can get though: The comeback kids! Interesting.
  18. I was recently the glad recipient of a 4-can-pack of Big Ditch's Deep Cut (double IPA). It was not what I expected out of an imperial. The profile is not all that bold. Not a lot of bitterness (which I often enjoy out of imperials). The mouth feel (sorry - a term I sorta despise) not all that syrupy. Maybe even some distinct maltiness? Anyway. It was just a really well-balanced beer. One that manages to carve out a niche in a crowded field. I liked it quite a lot.
  19. As someone who used to bad mouth the guy based on such anecdotal reports, and has since chewed over those stats: Word.
  20. It indicates at least two things to me: (1) The need to secure more leads or tied scores headed into the third (playing better in the second, maybe, for starters) and (2) the team's ability to surmount third-period deficits (which is a good thing, for a host of reasons). It strikes me as a weird take to say that having a lot of third period comebacks is indicative of nothing.
