  1. FA is such an uncertain venture. OTOH, so is the draft a lot of the time. Good lord, they're gonna have money to spend. Also: Am I right to think that, in the NFL, players go where the dollars are more so than, say, the NHL? It seems to me that you hear about a market like Buffalo having difficulty approaching big fish UFAs. Not so much the case in the NFL. Maybe it's a function of the brevity of their careers, non-guaranteed contracts, and the need for guaranteed money?
  2. You catch on quick. If we're looking for more guidance, maybe think along the lines of differentiating between medical conditions or similar infirmities, on the one hand, and more generalized, normal physical features, on the other. It's more art than science, though. I mean, I still laugh at this scene.
  3. Well, sure. I suspect that people do get sued for unfavourable online reviews. People get sued for all sorts of things, after all. I'm not a first amendment lawyer, but, for starters, there are differing standards for matters of private concern and matters of public concern or even criticisms of public figures. In any case, and without looking into it, I'll guess that online reviewers get sued when the object of the criticism thinks that the reviewer has said something factually untrue. (E.g., "Don't go to this doctor -- she tried to treat my broken ankle with nothing more than an ace bandage!" when the doctor's notes reflect that the patient was prescribed a casting up to the knee) Because simply saying something to the effect of "the wait in line took forever, the hot dog tasted like refried a.ss and was overpriced to boot" is in the nature of opinion. No one's getting sued for an opinion. But if someone were to say "I went to the Lexus Club after the 1st period and saw them swapping out the top sirloin with chuck roast" and that statement were false, well, then, maybe that reviewer would have some answering to do. As a practical matter: Can you even imagine PSE or Delaware North chasing down people on Twitter or message boards for harsh reviews? NFW.
  4. It is *such* a bad look ... that it probably actually works on some level.
  5. I watched most of the game in a setting where the sound was off and there was various conversations going on around me. But big #97 seemed to be everywhere.
  6. Btw - who was/is #97? The former Dolphin? He was noticeable.
  7. If there were, food critics wouldn’t ever be published.
  8. maybe we should merge this with the PSE Fan Experience thread? or vice versa? or maybe nah. also: i do not know why i've become so merge happy of late.
  9. Because nothing's more American than the Renaissance? Serious question: Is there a filter that pro photographers are using to create this effect nowadays?
  10. the fan standing with hands on his head is the low-key hero
  11. Dahlin made a couple of rough plays (one almost led to a scoring chance), but then he also made at least a half dozen small simple plays right in front of our section that were ... fairly miraculous. They looked simple. But only because of the incredible level of skill used to execute them. It occurred to me: We haven't had a d-man who does that sort of stuff with confidence in ... well, maybe ever. Also: Sobotka didn't play. Sorry for the trouble. I had awful eczema right up until I was done (done?) going through puberty. It was like a switch flipped. From middle elementary through early high school, the eczema on the bottom of my feet was often so bad (and led to so much cracking and bleeding) that I sometimes had difficulty lacing up my cleats or skates, let alone putting pressure on them for a practice or game. Skin problems are awful, and prevalent.
  12. Fwiw: Knights beat reporter stated in his write up that there were a lot of shots, but “few quality chances” for the Knights. That’s in line with what I saw. https://www.reviewjournal.com/sports/golden-knights-nhl/costly-lapses-continue-as-golden-knights-fall-to-sabres/
  13. I attended the game. The shot totals are what they are, but it was my distinct impression that the team wasn’t outplayed, let alone handily. I’d be curious to see how the shot totals progressed once the Sabres were up 4-1.
  14. My experience was extremely limited, but negative. It took nearly 20 minutes to get drinks at The Aud Club bar. There were 2 bartenders staffing the area where 4 were needed. And one of the bartenders looked like he’d been called on to pinch hit. Maybe this is what a low unemployment rate gets you?
  15. Yeah - it just doesn’t feel like a 25-15 affair.
  16. I’m here yelling myself hoarse. Wanted to ask: Score effects?
  17. Good news is welcome, too.
  18. Did you just assume my gender? Anyhoo. I've just never found the time to get through any of the famous binge-watch shows -- unless you count ABC's Lost (which sorta was an early one). I did the first season of The Wire (and oh man - was that ever good), but then got delayed on the rest. I've never watched a single episode of The Sopranos. And so on. Stats square with the eye test.
  19. Awesome sauce on the thread title. I'm going this afternoon. I'll see what's up.
  20. i retrieved this based on a search for a GIF depicting a horrified, disbelieving reaction. and i think it fits the bill. i'm not even familiar with the show, tbh.
