Where is this fusion story coming from? Friedmann? We haven't heard KA or Jack's agents say they only approved fusion surgery.

They agreed to give it time to heal on it's own with conservative treatment. They also agreed that if it wasn't healed by a certain date, they would OK the surgery. That said, the agent's letter mentions that Buffalo is no longer approving surgery even after the agreed upon rehab window has expired. This tells me that either it is slowly healing and they want to give it more time (most likely IMO), or they are close to a trade and don't want to be liable for the surgery.

I believe he shows up to camp with a prepared statement. Something along the lines of... "...as of today I am a Buffalo Sabre and will do my best to help the team in any way I can... unfortunately my injury will prevent me from playing the game I love.... Kevin Adams, ***** you very much."

A missing piece in all of this is the status of the healing process. Is it any better? What do the scans look like now? If it's slowly healing then waiting another 3-4 months isn't a big deal. Maybe that's why team doctors changed their mind and recommend giving it more time.

Famous russian figure skater, Evgeni Plushenko had artificial disk replacement in his lumbar spine and came back for a bit but he suffered another injury... "The injury was not disclosed but he was seen clutching his back and in an interview said he was unable to feel his legs from the back injury." 😬

As someone who played, you want a captain who does all the little things exceptionally well... I'm talking about hustling to the bench for line changes, high effort plays, 3rd 4th 5th effort never quitting on any puck, willing to block a shot in key moments, keeping the boys spirits up when things aren't going your way. Jack never really did any of these things consistently enough, so if I was on his team and he had something to say I'd be like "meh, whatever dude." When he's the supposed "leader" and he doesn't do those little things, then why would I? That creates a poor culture... no matter how much guys like each other in the room.
