  1. Comeback complete! What a great win, 11 in a row... how much longer can they sustain this level of play? Hopefully they don't cool off over the break.
  2. Sabres storming back to within a goal after being down 3-0 in the first! Plenty of time left in this game.
  3. Yes! Back on top of the CHL where we belong. Analytics and goal diff are proving their worth. Can't wait for them to get so far ahead we can actually cheer for them to lose again. They can't possibly lose in DET tomorrow? Next 5 on the road heading out West. This might just be the beginning of an historical winning streak. @DET @CGY @EDM @VAN @MTL
  4. In a good way? A regulation win tonight heading to DET tomorrow would be a nice way to enter the All-star break on an absolute tear. I don't understand how PHI is so bad with Giroux and Simmonds and Cotourier. Any of those players would instantly be the #1 guy in BUF. A BUF win and EDM loss at FLA would put BUF in 1st.
  5. Did GMTM screw up by not dealing Enroth when he was hot? I don't see them getting much more than maybe a 3rd round pick at this point... maybe could've fetched a 2nd in early Dec. The league seems to have him figured out. How many goals went in high last night? At least 5 of the 7? He covers the bottom of the net well, but he's too short.
  6. The Oilers are playing better, they'll get some wins eventually, but might not be for a while as they're currently on a tough stretch. March is when the magic will happen. Buffalo has only 4 home games and Edmonton has a 6 game homestand against some CHL contenders. Post trade deadline (March 2nd), BUF will be gutted of veterans, playing on the road virtually the entire month. And I just don't see the Oilers unloading any of their young talent, so they're not going to get any worse this season.
  7. Mezeros with his best game of the year. He's making a strong case for CHL LVP. His decision making is brilliant and ability to turn the puck over is mind numbing.
  8. some motivational quotes on our quest for The Shart... "Our greatest strength lies in giving up. The most certain way to succeed is never to try just one more time." - Thomas Edison "The will to lose, the desire to fail, the indifference to reach your full potential... these are the keys that will unlock the door to personal success." - Confucius "You have to learn the rules of the game. And then you have to play worse than anyone else." - Albert Einstein "If you can dream it, you can't do it." - Walt Disney "In order to fail, we must first believe that we can't." - Nikos Kazantzakis "By failing to prepare, you are preparing to succeed." - Benjamin Franklin "You don't have to be terrible to start, but you have to start to be terrible." - Zig Zagler and finally.... "If you can fly, then run If you can run, then walk If you can walk, then crawl but whatever you do you have to stop moving forward." MLK
  9. I had no problem with the ceremony. Of course it looked like ###### on the heels of the Selanne extravaganza.... which, imo, was way way over the top. A 90-minute ceremony? Ridiculous. He was a hockey player, not the second coming of JC himself. That said, it was the Ducks first jersey number to go up in the rafters, so it was a special moment.
  10. Sabres leading the NHL in SO wins.... http://espn.go.com/n...outWins/group/1
  11. Went to the Ducks/Leafs game last night. The ice girls are now cleaning the ice from one end to the other instead of width wise in each zone so I no longer get to see my favorite ice girl go back and forth repeatedly right in front of me. Tragic.
  12. We're still 6 weeks away from the trade deadline. IMO Dubnyk could've fetched more than a 3rd at the deadline.... maybe a 2nd. I, for one, don't want TM to just give guys away for the sake of sucking in Jan or Feb, when the last 6 weeks of the season are what really matter in the race for The Shart. The team finishing with the worst goal differential has finished dead last in the NHL 15 of the past 16 seasons.
  13. They have an easier schedule in the West with multiple games against the likes of NAS, LA, ANA, CHI, VAN, SJ, STL, etc... Those games are guaranteed points in the CHL.
  14. oh gawd... this is terrible news. ARI making a statement with that trade.
  15. Next 10 (CHL games in bold) BUF: MIN, PHI, @DET, @CAL, @EDM, @VAN, @MTL, STL, DAL, NYI . I see perhaps 6-7 wins, giving us about 12-14 out of a possible 20 points. EDM: @TB, @FLA, @WAS, MIN, BUF, @CAL, @SJ, PIT, @TOR, @NJ. Only 2 home games, yikes! I see them winning maybe 8-9 of those games, 16-18 points. So BUF could lose some ground to EDM over the next couple of weeks, but things get really interesting in MAR where BUF only has 4 home games, and EDM has a 6 game homestand against some top CHL teams.
  16. IMHO, OTT and DAL are no longer CHL members. DAL is almost 20 points out of first, OTT 17 points out at the half-way mark is not realistic they can make up all that ground in 40 games. COL and CBJ are in the same boat, they're too talented and their goaltending is back to normal. The real CHL contenders at this point are PHI, ARI, NJ, CAR, BUF, and EDM.
  17. Analytics aside, the important stat to watch is team goal differential. The team finishing with the worst gf/ga differential has finished last 15 of the past 16 years. Buffalo at -71 is almost 30 goals worse than EDM (-44) and its only half way through the season.
  18. EDM played a solid game. CHI coming off a difficult back to back, but the Oil played a desperate game and it paid off. They could be getting on a roll here... they're overdue. Next 3 for EDM: FLA,@STL,@TBL BUF: DET,MIN,PHI Some tough games for EDM.
  19. -1086 and counting.. http://bleacherreport.com/articles/2323175-buffalo-sabres-what-can-we-expect-in-the-second-half-of-the-season
  20. You're doing God's work Taro! the new columns are very interesting and will help down the stretch. Neuvirth starting tomorrow on the second night of a back to back against the top team in the eastern conference? Noooiiiccceee
  21. ...and 6 of those 14 wins (losses) are shootout victories (losses)... tied with EDM for last (first?) in ROW (ROL?).
  22. I'd go Marner over Crouse considering Buffalo's needs.
  23. Next game against CAR is absolutley gimongous. EDM picking up the win by giving up the losing goal with 30s remaining in the third. CAR gives up 3 goals in the third to win another 1 goal game... Unreal that team in one goal games they're almost unbeatable. The Hockey Gods have not smiled on either of those teams yet this season. Hopefully they have better puck luck down the stretch when it really matters.
  24. I wouldn't say they expect to be a playoff team, but they certainly don't expect to be in the basement. Their recent moves will certainly help... gone are some of the 1-way offenvise players (Perron, Arcobello, Draisaitl), replaced with some decent 2-way NHL veterans (Roy, Klinkhammer, Fraser). This will help cut back on their goals against, which was their biggest problem. It seems to be helping already. This gives them better matchups against opposing teams top lines and allows the Hall line to wheel and deal.
  25. He was playing well, but the reason they've been losing is the goaltending has cooled off. During their winning streak, they we're still getting badly outshot, however Enroth was playing like a generational talent. So unless Myers is Enroths gateway to Dominik Haseks soul, then I expect their losing ways to continue.
