I agree that $11m is fair value. I just don't think he's going to accept anything less than $12m.
-
I'm gonna venture a guess that Burns and/or Couture are part of the deal.
-
Let's see how this plays out. Just curious, what's your prediction for AM's contract extension? When will he sign and for how much? And do you think that's a fair number?

Peter Fish, Eichel's Boston-based agent, said Tuesday night in an email to The Buffalo News. "To be perfectly honest, we had advised Jack to play out the year because we feel that there is a greater potential for more money at the end of this season. But it was important for Jack to get a deal done that was friendly for both sides and it would not hamstring the Sabres going forward. He wants to help the Sabres win a championship someday." ...meanwhile, in Toronto, AM is demanding at least $12.5/yr... because that's what's important to him.

Robin Lehner Opens Up About His Bipolar Disorder and Alcoholism
pi2000 replied to Brawndo's topic in The Aud Club
I'm not surprised to hear this about Lehner. There are many many more players in the league who suffer from these same issues, albeit to a lesser degree. The lifestyle itself is not healthy... finishing a game late at night, getting home at midnight or later, trying to unwind and fall asleep, get up early to head back to the rink, workout/morning skate, try to take a nap in the afternoon, get amped up for game night... repeat 200 times. It's not a natural cycle. When I played competitively, it often would take several hours after getting back to the dorm/hotel to try and fall asleep. No doubt alcohol helps A LOT, you convince yourself one beer will help calm your nerves and allow you to sleep, then it's two beers, and so forth. An easy trap to fall in to. Personally I was able to avoid this, but knew many guys who used alcohol this way... especially pro players who's careers are at stake if they don't get proper rest. The league really needs to help these guys earlier in their careers.... how manage sleep and rest while avoiding alcohol/depressants. -
He could've been a serviceable backup at some point if developed properly.
-
Maybe he values winning a Cup more than a few extra dollars? ....unlike some other guys *cough* *cough*.

Brilliant. This is the kind of stuff where BUF is stuck in the dark ages.

McDermott ruined Peterman in that SD game last year. If you watched him closely this past Sunday he hesitates on just about every single pass play... instinctually he wants to throw it, but his mind just won't let him pull the trigger because deep down he's second guessing himself. Let's hope Josh Allen doesn't suffer the same fate, but the chances are very high IMO. The only difference may be wether or not JA can get over it and find a way to push through it ..... but man, you couldn't dream up a worse situation for a rookie QB... no OL, WRs who can't separate, an aging RB.. there's not a worse situation in the entire league for rookie QB. That was different. Rodgers dropped in the draft to a good team who had an established veteran QB. I'm sure Rodgers could've played much sooner and had the same amount of success because of the team around him.

UPDATE: Sam Reinhart signs 2-year extension -- $3.65MM per year

as he should -
This TOR situation is a powder keg. Nylander is holding out, AM wants McDavid money, and Babcock is an old school coach who is already starting with the snarky comments.
-
Right, but they wouldn't be allowed to trade him until after the playoffs. ....and if the Sabres reclaimed him, then he could be sent down without having to clear waivers a second time.
-
"Rather than placing an emphasis on strength and barbell lifting as Ristolainen had done in the past, Rintala convinced the defenseman to concentrate on building speed and explosiveness. ... The main goal was to be better on the ice. We stopped lifting heavy, did dumbbell stuff, mobility, sprints." ...this is good to hear. Risto needed to work on his functional movements to improve his play around the net.

It still baffles me why they don't have a veteran QB on the roster. All the QBs moving around this past season and they end up with nothing (A. Smith, Keenum, Bradford, Cousins, Taylor, MacArron, Kizer, etc..). You invest so much in moving up to take your franchise QB, then force him to play week 2 w/ a porous offensive line and no weapons.

I think they'd be wise to wait one more season then name Dahlin captain to start 2019-20. IMO Dahlin has better traits to be captain than Eichel. That said, if they name Eichel captain now, there's no way Dahlin will ever get the C even tho he may be more worthy.
-
I think he tries too hard to protect the players in the media. He never comes out says somebody had a bad game... he always compliments the players and accepts blame himself... saying he needs to coach better, it's a team game, blah blah blah... he never once threw Peterman under the bus even tho he had an historically bad first half. As a player I would appreciate that, but I hope to god he's calling guys out behind closed doors because there's plenty of blame to go around.

The forgot Matt Moulson... Clearly a clerical error.

I expect them to have something done Thurs or Fri this week. -
You swap Peterman with Mahomes against the Ravens and the result is probably not much different.
-
It shouldn't have been. The talent was there, Housley did nothing with it. I expect one or both of Baptiste and Bailey to make the team, and not just because of their waiver status. I'm expecting big things from Bailey this season, I think he will surprise some folks here.
-
Let's see if Nylander can maintain his upward trajectory through camp and pre-season. It's a step in the right direction. I'll be the first to admit I was wrong about him should he live up to his draft day hype and become a regular contributor.
-
Maybe he is sick. Hope not, but strange timing indeed.

This adjustment stuff is utter garbage. These are pro hockey players. The rink is 15ft narrower, that's it. They'll figure it out in a few skates.

What else is he supposed to say? "We've been shopping him but so far nobody is interested."
