We found the first mouse ?
-
What bothers me is that when things are going well he tends to change up lines and whatnot for no apparent reason. Or Ullmark will be playing well and he'll give Hutton the start. He doesn't understand that things that aren't broken don't need fixing.

I like Wilson and hope he clears.

2nd, 3rd and 4th efforts win hockey games. Two mice fell into a bucket of cream. The first mouse, he swam and swam and swam. But recognizing the situation was hopeless, when his arms and legs tired he gave up, accepted his fate and his lifeless body sank to the bottom of the bucket. The second mouse also swam and swam and swam, his little arms and legs tired and he too recognized the situation was hopeless. However, this mouse, he never gave up... he kept swimming and fighting. In fact, he fought so hard that he churned that cream into butter and walked out of the bucket. When you step out on the ice, the question to ask yourself isn't "Which mouse am I?"... instead ask yourself "Which mouse do I want to be?".

And giving up 42 shots attempts/game. And the team taking entire periods off without any accountability. And lack of player development. And poor clock management. Which coach is in rehab?
-
He was most likely coming down off a nearly fatal overdose of black tar heroin. I mean, it's the only thing that makes sense in this case if he's "starting to feel like himself" again.

The oversized logo makes them look like bootleg sweaters from China. And they all look like goalie cuts. Good idea. Poorly executed. These are the best uniforms on the planet.
-
"I'm starting to feel like myself again..." Sounds like an illness.

If you read my post I suggested calling those guys up at the very tailend of the season if playoffs are out of reach. Give Asplund a taste so he knows what to expect.... Part if the development process.
-
They're not, nobody said they were.

I've been voting 9 times for Skinner and once for Marner, because he is amazing.

SabreSpace Goal of the Year Semis: Risto (Sharks) vs. Jack

Risto isn't supposed to do that... Just shows his lack hockey IQ. -
There's many other reasons besides scoring for a call-up. Asplund and Malone are filling roles and its not as top 6 offensive players.

I don't believe 1 player can have that big of an impact on shots against. They need to play better team defense. I think part of the problem is their bottom six lacks any true shutdown, checking type of players. You have guys like Pominville, Thompson, Okposo, Smith, Mittlestadt... filling those spots. They're easy to play against... way way too easy. Very little resistance and no physical threat. Larsson is really the only guy who can make it difficult, but he is severely lacking offensively, probably not even AHL level. Steve Smith was brought in to clean up the D zone but his solution is just to sit back and play a passive box plus one. It limits high danger scoring chances, but gives up a lot of shots and possession time. They need to do better.

I'd argue they need to learn how to defend as a 5 man unit. They give up way way too many shots to compete for a playoff spot. Adding another center might help mask the problem, but won't solve it. They can't rely on their goaltenders to make 40 saves a night. Housley and his staff are responsible for fixing it and so far have proven they have no answers.
-
UPL was good, not great, still needs 4-5 years of development, but you need guys like that in your pipeline. I'd say they should look at goaltender again this draft, every 2-3 years take a flyer in the middle rounds.
-
I expect call ups after the All-Star break. Nylander first, then Aslpund maybe Olofsson for the last dozen games or so. Maybe even guys like Malone who they seem to be developing into a checking type center might help the bottom 6... But not until late in the season if the playoffs are out of reach.

Not a chance. Maybe a first in 2020. He's a rental.

They are who we thought they were.

He was on the ice looking good against the Islanders too.

This has the feeling of an important game, a crossroads, if you will, not necessarily a do or die since we're only at the halfway point of the season, but an important game for me as a fan, psychologically speaking, where a win will go a long way in restoring some faith I've lost in this club over the past 3 weeks, while a loss would cement the idea that this team still has a long ways to go.
