Best of luck to him. Retirement is great if you use your time wisely. Love mine.

Levi was wise not to sign and spend his development in College, playing frequently. 60 games, 1.91 GA .941 Sv % 21 years old. We'll see. This whole long minor league plan is OK sometimes but becomes beyond cliche if the guy has talent and is needed.

Upon retirement, I said goodbye to my Club seats. I can only imagine what they must cost now. Then again, I don't really care. These large screen TV's are game changers for some older folks like me who don't move as well as they used to. 👍 Beane has a lot of contracts to go over before Vet FA starts. I'll wait for the off-season to run it's course. Too many folks are still hurting and just venting or looking for arguments. Whatever.

Sabres started Tom Barrasso at 18. Each case is unique to itself.

Ryan Reynolds: part of group bidding on Senators

I hate his guts for ruining Green Lantern. My favorite Comic book as a kid. That movie was the worst. -
I did watch his last couple of games and the talent is not imagined. It's real. I saw him at the prospects camp last summer and he was tons better than Portillo and the others. His reaction speed is fantastic if a rebound comes back out for a 2nd chance. Great form. His size doesn't hurt him at all.

GDT Sabres at Kings, Feb. 13, 2023, 10:30 pm, MSG, WGR

Too many panic momemnts in short spans. They give up a goal and then the next several minutes are throwing the lifeboats over the side of the ship. Poise is still missing. Maybe some Vet additions in the off-season can alleviate those instances. Will have to overpay for it now, prior to the trade deadline. -

Line shakeups will hopefully wake up some of our players who were not skating at all last game. Heard Anderson may be in goal. I'll catch the highlights in the morning. -

Maybe Quinn and Peterka should be in Rochester for a spell. They have fallen off the grid and it's not all that surprising. Kids. How about a couple new promotions with some energy. -
Are the Sabres out of the running for the playoffs?
Night Train replied to inkman's topic in The Aud Club
Not out of it but the hill is getting steeper, little question. Most teams are better at home but this team gets tight and then stops skating as if every opponents move is a car crash they must stare at. No one reason but I get this is still a big rebuild. Last February it looked utterly hopeless, prior to a late season wakeup. Will trades happen ? How much movement in the upcoming off-season ? Lots to come. Yesterday stunk and the reaction is understandable. -

That was just plain ugly. 2-0 and then Lay Down Sally. Scrambling for answers. Youth ? Line matchups ? UPL was off. A timeout was needed once it was quickly 2-2 at the start of the 2nd. They looked completely rattled at that point. Now 3 games out west. Will be interesting to see how they respond. -

Cozens Contract Extension Announced, 7 years 7.1 Million AAV

Glad he's in the long term plans. Pleased. Go Sabres ! -
Dahlin replaces him for the all-Star nonsese that I never watch in any sport.

Pretty nice.

It's that time to find other things to watch because a Sabres game is missing. Or actually try talking to the family. 😱

I remember my brother taking me to see the Sabres host Boston play in 1971. It ended in a 4-4 tie and was a great game. Sabres trailed 3-1 and rallied. Perreault scored twice. Rookie Rick Martin scored and their linemate( pre-Robert) Mike Byers scored a goal. Yes, I'm old. LOL.

What's weird for me personally is for the first time in like forever, I'm actually nervous of giving up any of our young guys in order to get some high priced Vet that could be just OK. Then viewing the traded prospects having solid careers elsewhere. I completely get the gamble. Sabres fans suffered for so long. I'm in my 60's and attended games in their first month of existence as a kid ( Oct. 1970 ). I just don't remember ever having such a deep, young pipeline of youth. Locker room seems so together and drama free now. An ascending team. If it must be, just get it right. I''ll still probably squirm when I see who's leaving. Wonder if anyone else has the same feelings.

Will he and Portillo even sign with the Sabres ??
-
Interesting. These 2 teams have a great D. The AFC teams have great QB's. Do we harken back to the old cliche D wins championships or is it all about the superior QB play in this day and age ?

Very pleased with a difficult road trip that yielded 7 out of a possible 8 points. They are still a work in progress and very young overall. Perspective. -
Eichel thrown under the bus by Vegas HC Bruce Cassidy
Night Train replied to matter2003's topic in The Aud Club
The trade needed time. Sabres made out well. They were going nowhere with players like Eichel, Reinhart and Risto. They fetched assets with a good return. Seems like they were welcoming a change and the feeling was mutual. The Sabres were stuck in mud, far from a playoff spot. Didn't help having a string of confused GM's and coaches. Not surprising, since Pegs is a well intentioned owner. Yet has the sports acumen of my wifes cat. I'm pleased with our current direction and hold no ill will towards any former player or Coach/ GM. The past is just that. A learning experience. Our current GM and coach are doing a good job of properly building something from the bottom. I can embrace this team without feeling I'm being fooled. -
Don't disagree at all. I just view a veteran presence more on the back end (D). I think that's where we need it more. Scoring is no problem right now and Jost,Krebs are energizer bunnies with a bit more ability to score over ZG and Kyle O, in my view. But may points above are solid.
-
Thanks for all the above posted figures going forward. Cozens must stick. I don't pretend to know how certain Forwards are viewed by KA and Granato but Kyle O and his linemate ZG are probably done here. They need to add more youth and scoring somewhere. Who is stepping up will be determined. Jost and Krebs can take their spots. Andersons wife and kids are in Florida. He, being 42, will join them. UPL and Cromrie in Goal with hopefully Levi in Rochester. Agree with some thoughts on D. That could be the spot KA is looking outside to improve. Don't pretend to know the names. They still need to play better in their zone and cut down on the giveaways. Yet the D core needs to improve moving people out in front of the net and clearing the puck. Would be surprised to see any major trade happen in the next month. Seems to counter what they are doing.
-
Anderson is near the end but in his spot starts, he's been so darn good. For the rest of the year, this seems to work. Healthy scratches every night. If one is a goalie, so be it. UPL will still start the majority of games. Yet if the Sabres do surprise and grab a playoff spot, I'm betting you see a healthy dose of Anderson.
