Very surprised...just looked up Lack's stats and discovered he was born in Sweden. Eddie Lack? Not Gustav Lack or Swen Lackstrom? LOL

Should this be followed with a "Be honest...smartest hockey thing you ever posted" thread? :D -
The joys of home owning? BS! They truly are a money pit.

I am willing to give Hodgson another year. Unless he is a really bad influence to younger players both on and off the ice, let's see if he can at least revert back to being a 45-50 point player.

I like to consider my posting style for lack of a better term "hit and run". I've never been one to get into long prolonged debates/arguments about anything hockey related. Instead make my point, maybe one follow-up, and then move on. Not saying that point can't be repeated several times a year. Just not posting over and over again on the same subject for days on end. That being said, I'm sure over the past years that I occasionally get sucked into the vortex. -

Bless me father for I have sinned.... -
Depends on his definition of wanting a top 6 forward? Top 6 from one of the best offensive teams in the NHL, or Arizona? Top 6 meaning better than any 6 forwards Ottawa currently has? That being said, I wouldn't give up anything close to one of the Sabres best 6 forwards for either of them, but if I was looking to acquire one of them at a lower cost, I'd go with Anderson and let him be a very good stop gap for the next two years of so.

IMO, alamo mode is just a small part of the defense first strategy that plagues the NHL. I hate the the NHL has become a defense first league. Teams that don't have the offensive firepower, just check, block shots, interfere with, neutral zone trap, etc... in order to win games....and save coaches jobs. Even the best offensive teams take a defense first posture in the playoffs when it is "win or go home", which leads to a game like last night where you have great offensive talent on both sides, yet they combine for 44 shots on goal.

Sometime early in the 06-07 season, Tallinder was really playing well(prior to breaking his wrist or some other injury), and I thought he was on his way to being a perennial all-star or even a Norris trophy candidate. Like many other things that occurred in 2007 for the Sabres(downward spiral), Tallinder never seemed to be able be reach that level of play again. -

Sabres Discussing Bringing More Amerks Games to Buffalo

I don't think there is any way that an AHL franchise can be viable in an 1800 seat rink. -

I agree. Can't see the Buffalo market supporting any more than a couple Amerks games a year as they have done in the past. -

I don't know what the current board options are. Just saying what it used to be a few years back. -

In a previous time when the board had a "like" button, that wasn't the problem I believe. It was more of a problem with the "dislike" button(which once again I will readily admit, I grew very fond of at times). SDS or one of the other mods at the time can correct me if I am wrong. -
IMO...not all 7 of a teams blueliners need to be physical or have a mean streak. The problem is when too many of them are not physical. If the Sabres go into the season with Zadorov, Bogo & Weber in the top 6, we should be okay in that regard with the other 3 being Risto(who can also be physical at times), Pysyk & Gorges.

I have a question...what has Lehner done in the last two seasons that would make any team want to trade for him, let alone in any deal for a 1st round pick/package deal? An unknown by the name of Hammond came out of nowhere and played lights out for Ottawa last season, while Lehner was barely keeping his head above water. I'd look on the F/A scrap heap before giving up anything of significance for Lehner. Same goes for Lack who will be a UFA after this season.

Bullet point one in the "get to know" FAQ, should be an explanation and a pic of ink's calves. They used to get mentioned a lot. Now it is a rarity. -

I am guilty of some of the things I am about to post, but IMO can make this a better board.... 1 - Long time and frequent posters can be intimidating at times. 2 - There are some newbies who don't want to even try and fit in. Call them trolls or call them ignorant, but either way they are stirring the pot. 3 - Way too often posters try and pass off their opinions as fact. This drives me crazy! 4 - Some posters need to get the last word in and just won't let a discussion/debate/argument go until this happens. 5 - Way too much use of videos and images. I really wish that videos and images would be limited to hockey related content. It wouldn't even bother me if media content was not allowed. All this being said, there is great hockey talk that goes on here and for the most part I enjoy the time I have spent here over the last 10 or so years.
