  1. If so, that is a solid pickup. Among the goalies on the trade market(Talbot, Lehner, Lack, etc...), I like Anderson the best. If they can find a couple guys to play defense, they should be much improved.
  2. If the Sabres trade for ROR, combined with Kane, Reinhart, Eichel, Girgensons & Ennis, that would be a really really good start to building a top 9 that can score.
  3. Sabres play division rival Tampa Bay 4 times by 11/15 (15 games into the season)...then don't play them the rest of the season.
  4. Maybe stating the obvious, but this move makes me believe O'Reilly is on his way out
  5. Two things... 1 - I don't ever remember Grigs being viewed as "the next coming". 2 - Odds are this WILL happen to some of them.
  6. If I looked it up, I'd probably find the same complaints from past years, but my neighbors yard is a trainwreck. Cuts grass only when it gets 5-6" high, weeds taking over landscaping beds, just a slob. There is wood from a swingset he never built in one of the flower beds(been there for several years), a pool that hasn't been opened since they bought the house seven years ago(despite having two boys). They have a landscaper come over every other year to redo their flower beds in front, and then proceed to not maintain them at all, which in turn makes them a mess within a couple months. I'm not saying every yard has to be picture perfect, but have some f***ing pride in being a homeowner.
  7. Instead of getting a bunch of 20 and 30 somethings filling the arena on a Saturday night ready to have a good time(increased atmosphere), you instead get 7 kiddie matinees. I am assuming this is at the Sabres request. I don't get it.
  8. 3-3 will be exciting! I love all the hockey purists labeling it a gimmick. Adding something that will be exciting to end the game? How dare they do this.
  9. Want to know who the Sabres lost in the two most recent expansion drafts? Bob Boughner and Daryl Shannon. 1998 expansion draft rules... The Predators were to select 26 players, one from each of the 26 existing franchises at the time of the draft. First- and second-year pros were exempt from being selected in the draft. Each of the 26 franchises in the league were allowed to protect either one goaltender, five defensemen and nine forwards or two goaltenders, three defensemen and seven forwards. Of the unprotected players, each franchise had to include at least one forward and one defenseman who appeared in 40 games in the 1997–98 season. Each franchise also had to include at least one goaltender who appeared in 10 games in the 1997–98 season, and a minimum of 25 games since the 1995–96 season. These minimums for goaltenders were put into place in order to avoid manipulation of rosters, such as what occurred before the 1992 NHL Expansion Draft, which weakened the talent pool available in the draft.
  10. I think I will go to camp during the week and maybe for the 3 on 3 tourney on Sunday. I know I am sounding old and ornery when I say this, but the FNC will be filled with thousands of little kids on Friday night who will be more interested in concessions(up and down and up and down and up and down for 2 solid hours), then in a scrimmage with a bunch of players they have never heard of.
  11. I'll go one step further, TM is an IDIOT if he even gives up #31 for Talbot, who is a goalie with limited experience. Too many options out there rather than giving up #31 which is basically a 1st round pick. I already think he gave up too much in both the Kings and Jets deals, I have my fingers crossed that he doesn't get bent over during draft weekend.
  12. This is all very believable. I just don't think it is the primary reason why PLF "walked away/was fired" from his position with the Sabres.
  13. Sad...but it doesn't have to be that way. If the officials called the game the way the rules state, and the coaches decided to coach offense instead of left wing locks, neutral zone traps and all that other crap, there are plenty of undersize professional players around the world with skill levels to succeed in the NHL.
  14. I know Hodgson's numbers were Leino-esqe last season, but I'd really like to give him one more season. That being said, I have a feeling that TM tries his hardest to trade Hodgson in a package deal sometime this week, and if that fails, buys him out come early next week.
  15. If nothing else, I hope that Reinhart and Eichel can inject some life into the PP, and that one of the new coaches has the knack for developing a good PP scheme.
  16. Never liked Jeremy White. Howard Simon is okay. Matthew Collar and his obsession with hockey analytics drive me crazy.
  17. The best thing that happened to me when I retired is that it minimized the amount of time I spend listening to WGR during the morning and afternoon commutes.
  18. Hey...nobody said you were supposed to actually look at the standings and do the math!
  19. Just because they are paid doesn't mean everything that comes out of their mouths has to be "genius".
  20. No different from much of what is posted here in terms of ridiculous trade offers. ;)
  21. Good for the NHLPA! This should be approved ASAP!
  22. That's a different story. In your previous post you wanted to acquire Gibson for Rochester. Now you want him to be the Sabres starter in the fall.
