  1. I'll retract the grasping, it may be an unfair word to use, as long as I don't have to retract "milky eyed" - but her self description of Black Widow doesn't help in a positive public image. I feel that KP meets the definition of a trophy wife, which is that she is a much younger woman who is the second wife of a very wealthy man who handed her her career because of their marriage. She has no background in this field. And yet she's constantly presented in the media as being a successful and powerful woman. Wife of Kong has actually weighed in on this, saying that she has seen and experienced this type of situation in business, when an undeserving woman gets a position of power or money because of her connection to an older powerful man and not because of her own merits or background. As a woman, Wife of Kong is very angered by this because it negates the efforts of truly qualified women who try to achieve things on their own. She's had this happen to her in business and she resents this deeply because it prevents women from achieving positions and success on their own merits without being attached to a powerful man. BTW still no one after all this time has been able to post what KP has done on her own successfully.
  2. So tell me, you're part of the Mod Team. Since no one has answered me yet, what has she done successfully on her own? Everything has been given to her by her powerful husband who gives her things and yet she's portrayed as this powerful independent woman. I'm just saying this image that's being peddled of her is clearly false. The reason for the pushback on this board is not the baseless slur, but that several of the posters who like to repeat themselves are PC Neo-Puritans.
  3. This is so true. I was just talking to a bud of mine about the horrible sport of basketball. Players decide who they want to play with, stack their teams and it's unwatchable. Not to mention the creepy political views of about 80 percent of the players.
  4. Claptrap.Sexism is an accusation. The reality is everybody is incompetent at certain things. Men and women. Just because she's a woman doesn't mean that she can't be incompetent. She's proven this to us. She's in way over her head. She's no president. As for her "connection" with Terry...Puhlease.
  5. I seem to remember the Sabres were originally modeled after the Montreal Canadiens. An exciting finesse team. They almost made it in their 4-5 th year but fell short, and never got that close again for another 25 years. An interesting note was they were intimidated by the Flyers in that 74-75 finals. Possibly the most successful era of the Sabres was with Brad May, Rob Ray, Boughner and the gang. They specialized in the rough stuff. Nobody wanted to come to Buffalo, let alone play them. When Muckler traded Mogilny for Peca, he said that people in Buffalo would relate to Peca, a smallish lunchbucket guy who hit hard and related to the character of the average blue collar Buffalonian. He saw a style that the fans would cheer for and he went out and got it. The team gelled. Muckler understood what makes Buffalo tick. Stealing Hasek didn't hurt. This formula for success has become muddled over the years.
  6. Top points for using the word "obfuscating." Nice vocab and of course true.
  7. Thanks but I don't think she's very smart. I think as far as President of the Sabres, at least, she's incompetent. Her body of work proves it out. I don't need to see anymore. But the Pegulas have doubled down on it when TP declared Kim president for life. Where does that leave the team and where does that leave us? As far as her marriage, I have to wonder if TP met her while still married. His former wife has been scrubbed from the internet.
  8. I remember reading somewhere that Buffalo is historically a tough crowd for performers/entertainers, especially those who don't do well.
  9. Sure. I won an Emmy Award and was nominated for another and I didn't have to marry anybody. Now then, her accomplishments on her own are...?
  10. Question: What has Kim Pegula successfully accomplished? I'd like to know.
  11. I was a fan of the LA Angels dating back to the late 60s and one thing I learned from them was that after many, many years of futility, epic collapses, incompetence and a stadium that was built on an old Indian burial ground, in 1997 they came up with embarrassing Disney-designed uniforms that were labeled "softball beer league" uniforms by Chris Berman and "periwinkle blue" by the fans. Then something amazing happened. They won the World Series in 2002. Totally unexpected. After that it was back to the salt mines. But as DeNiro as Rupert Pupkin said in "The King of Comedy": "Better to be king for a night than schmuck for a lifetime." You never know.
  12. I don't like big mistakes for one decade straight. I don't see that ending. If the Pegulas (no apostrophe) divorce, there's no reason to be happy. She'll take him for all he's worth and own the team(s) by herself. I buy into results or extreme lack thereof. I don't buy into personal assessments of people. Bottom line, the Pegulas are incompetent at hockey.
  13. Then get the hell out. If it was a man, it would be a grasping trophy husband. She is what she is. And here I was worried that posters would be offended by my expression "milky-eyed" Terry Pegula.
  14. This is my blast of hellfire, my rant. I've been a Sabres fan since 1970 and I think I've earned this right. So many examples of bad characters on the Sabres the last few years magnified by how bad the team has been run since milky-eyed Terry Pegula and his grasping trophy wife bought their way in. No one believes in or fights for each other on this team. Cozens the rookie is the sole example. We have players who will play for one team but not for us. Eichel and Hall may be talented but they are two of my least-favorite Sabres of all time. Hall is a straight-up mercenary; can't stand the sight of him... All along it seems he wanted to get dished to a contender at the deadline and his passive-aggressive indifferent play landed his ticket out. Eichel...there's something about him, save all those flowers for the nurses, that makes me want to puke. Eichel is so negative, I don't want to hear one more word coming out of his mouth.Shut up! Okposo seems to be a nice guy but he fleeced the organization with his contract. How can he hold his head up with pride when he knows the team is paying him a king's ransom and he doesn't have the ability to play anymore, yet he stubbornly hangs on. We're still paying Ehrhoff $900K a year for the next six or seven years...Matt Moulson was paid approximately $7.95 million to only play 14 games with the Sabres from the start of the 2017-18 season through the end of his contract June 30, 2019. I still can't stand some of the guys who left: Kane and O'Reilly being among the top. None of these guys have any class. Then there are all the nobodies on the team. Then there's the "management team." I won't even get into that through the years. Ville Leino and Slava Kozlov move over. I can only hope that somewhere down the line Cozens will emerge as a leader who will fight for his guys. What humiliation we've had to go through as Sabres fans since the Pegulas bought in. Used to be we were the small market that could. Now...we're the runaway laughingstocks of ice hockey.
  15. The Pegulas don't know what they're doing. RK didn't know what he was doing. KA doesn't know what he's doing. What's not to like?
  16. I hope you reconsider. If there's one thing the Pegulas don't like, it's to be embarrassed or humiliated. A 5 second clip of this would go national on ESPN, TSN, etc. perhaps world-wide. It would be humiliating because it would have everyone laughing at the Pegulas.
  17. We can still hire a plane to fly a banner past PSE HQ that reads Pegulas: Sell the Sabres or similar. Cost is $3500. I can't do it myself but will chip in if anyone else (rich) is interested. I actually got a price quote from a Buffalo company...The Pegulas are so blind to how spittin' mad and embarrassed the fans are because of their inept management. Maybe a plane with a banner and national media covering it might make them think twice.
  18. I read the Imlach book "Heaven and Hell in the NHL" and he (your namesake) said that Schoenfeld flat out refused to fight for his teammates after a few years. There was a cluster of players in the Sabres lockerroom, including Schoenfeld and Gare, who were dead set against Imlach. Funny thing is when they replaced Schoenfeld with Gare, Gare also betrayed Imlach and lobbied for his firing...so much so that Dodo had harsh words for Gare.
  19. You guys are all wet. PA is the best by far.
  20. McDavid? Keep dreaming. Plus Eichel is extreme damaged goods, in more way than one.
  21. I don't think any hockey player in his right mind would get this operation. It's too experimental. I think Jack just wants to manufacture a controversy and that he wants out because he doesn't trust the organization is being run competently. And he's right.
  22. I was just about front row in back of the Sabres bench when I saw Derek Roy play as a rookie at the TD Garden in Boston. His speed from that angle was electrifying. Vanek-Roy-Pominville was one of the top five Sabre lines ever. #9 was worn by a total of nineteen Sabres through the years including Eichel. None of the nineteen wore #9 for long except for Derek Roy, between 2004-2012, twice as long as anyone else. The #9 is the most common retired number, put to the rafters 10 times, by 9 individual teams (New York Rangers retired it twice). Nine is often referred to as the best number of all-time, for the number of superstars to have donned it on their backs. The Sabres who wore #9: Reggie Fleming 1971 Danny Lawson 1972 Rick Martin 1973 Norm Gratton 1973-1975 Butch Deadmarsh 1973 Rick Dudley 1975-1981 Jacques Richard 1976-1979 J.F. Sauve 1981 Gilles Hamel 1982-1986 Mike Moller 1982 Scott Arniel 1987-1990 Greg Brown 1991 Viktor Gordiouk 1993-1995 Vaclav Varada 1996 Erik Rasmussen 1998-2002 Derek Roy 2004-2012 Steve Ott 2013-2014 Evander Kane 2016-2018 Jack Eichel 2019-2021
  23. I like Ullmark, but I thiink he's too often injured (below) for the $5 mil range... He's been good overall and great at times with a historically bad team in front of him. Sabres have other bad contracts to deal with too. II know great goalies are hard to come by but he's not it and I'd move on from damaged goods. https://www.tsn.ca/nhl/player-bio/linus-ullmark/bio
