Somebody, somebody please take Perfetti before 8.

I'd be happy with either. Much rather Sanderson than Quinn.
  3. I'm glad we're looking elsewhere for depth pieces, and good on Adams for letting him get a head start on free agency.
  4. I'm sure it works pretty much this way in every organization, but it did come across nicely in the video. Proper delegation and trust in your staff, but not over-delegation.
  5. Which I really doubt they'd do with 6 years left on it. I'm not a huge fan of this rumor.
  6. I like this. Skinner - Jack - Reinhart Olofsson - Staal - XXX I'd prefer XXX to be an addition, but it could be Cozens or Thompson.

Lundell is a v6 Camry with a tune-up. Uninspiring at first glance but with a surprising amount of flash under the surface. Not gonna compete with the Corvettes of this draft on pure ability, but he'll hold his own more than people think. I still like Rossi more, just wanted to toy with the analogy.
  8. We do need a 4LW with penalty killing ability...
  9. Do any of you guys know which side Kahun primarily played in Pittsburgh? I've noticed that Vogl has him penciled in at RW in every roster projection he does. I find it kinda weird seeing that he's a lefty.

So assuming nobody else falls, all it takes for Rossi to get to us is either: - Both defensemen go before us. - One defenseman and Holtz/Quinn/Askarov goes before us. That's starting to look increasingly likely to me. I'm starting to get excited about this.

I'm sure the PR department likely knows no more about who Adams likes than we do, but it's interesting that they started with Rossi and Quinn after Pronman specifically mentioned both of them.

Corey Pronman put out a new mock draft today that has us taking Rossi at #8. He mentions that from what he's heard, the names most connected to us are Rossi, Raymond, and Quinn. https://theathletic.com/2090914/2020/10/01/nhl-mock-draft-2020-corey-pronman-projects-all-seven-rounds?source=user-shared-article
  14. I can see Hank doing a cheap one year deal with a contender and taking one last run towards a cup.
  15. Has he fallen off a cliff as hard as Staal has?

You can be a hard-working high compete player without being a bruiser. Whether that constitutes as playing with an edge is up to you. To me, you don't have to be a hitter but I'd much prefer we take a guy that's always working than one with the tendency to be a perimeter floater.
  17. The only lefties we have right now are Dahlin and McCabe. I'd rather get another bottom 4 LHD than push someone like Montour to their off-hand.
  18. From what I can read on Merrill, he seems to be a jack of all trades master of none defensive defenseman. Strong defensive game, not inept offensively but nothing to write home about. His profile and metrics actually remind me a lot of McCabe. Seems like a solid bottom four D-man, who could be had for relatively cheap. Could be a good complement to a more offense minded RD, or a solid partner for Borgen to develop with. He got a lot of praise for how he worked with Zach Whitecloud as a rookie.

I think trading down a couple spots with the plan to take Jarvis is getting too cute with it. If he's the guy, just take him at 8. The more I think about it, the more I can see it playing out where Rossi is on the board and we take Holtz. And this board will have a meltdown.
  20. Tampa is on paper the best team this league has seen in a while. We don't have to match them one for one to contend.

I haven't listened to it yet, but apparently in today's 31 Thoughts podcast Jeff Marek says he's heard Sanderson/Quinn/Askarov for Ottawa at #5.
  22. Speaking of Bryson, I feel like I've heard good things about his development this year but I haven't seen him play. To anyone who has, how is he looking and when would you expect him to seriously compete for a roster spot?
  23. Grzelcyk is a solid player and would round out our LD nicely. I just don't see why Boston would trade him though unless they're hell-bent on re-signing Krug and would have no space after that. Assuming Chad has good intel, it's interesting to me that they've inqured about a D-man with arb rights given all the hubbub around not qualifying Montour a while back for fear of arbitration.
  24. Good thoughts @Thorny, that's pretty much how I see it playing out as well. That middle six two way RW probably falls into more of a want than a need, but that would be such a key addition for this team. I was more confident that we'd pursue that kind of player until I realized that Tage is waivers eligible this season, so I bet the org has him penciled into that spot.
