  1. No reason to buy out Okposo this offseason. He is productive in his role, we don't need the cap space, and that would just be creating a bunch of dead money and lost cap space in the future. Keep him and re-evaluate in a year.
  2. I'm getting that sense as well. I think we need to add another cheap depth piece to challenge Asplund and maybe be the 13th forward if that's the case. And we need to be cognizant of who on the roster is capable on the PK, cause we're lacking there.
  3. More years and cheaper than I expected. Good deal, and good for Lazar. Really liked him last year, and seems like a good guy.
  4. They wouldn't want Hutton in return, they have two young goalies that would compete for the backup job. But I have no problem sending Hutton to Rochester, if there is an AHL season next year.

He's missing that flashy offensive ability that people might be looking for in a defenseman at 8, but I agree. Very solid, complete player and I'd be very happy to have him. He has that Seth Appert connection from the NTDP as well.
  6. Even if he is, I think it would be much safer to go into the year with him as the first call-up rather than penciled into a roster spot.
  7. Yeah, I followed him a bit during his development but lost track in the past year or so. I was expecting to see a little more progression in the offensive game, given what I was seeing on CapFriendly yesterday. Reading a little more, it sounds like he got some opportunity in the top 6 last season and disappointed in that role. But that's from skimming through some Jets season in review blog posts. I'm sure Ducky has more insight there. Still like the player and the fit, but I guess I was assuming that he was in that .5PPG pace.
  8. Woof, you're right. I guess that's what I get for tossing things out there without actually looking into a player. In my mind, he was better. Now I'm curious why every other Jets CapFriendly team has him plugged into their second line...
  9. Hey @Ducky, is Roslovic for Montour a trade framework that could work on your end? I haven't really put a lot of thought into that, and I'm not even that familiar with Roslovic as a player, but it seems to fit both team's needs. Winnipeg has (correct me if I'm wrong) a glut of wingers and is lacking at RD, and Buffalo has too many RHD and needs a middle six RW. Both RFAs, Montour has a higher QO. Maybe this has been mentioned in here before but all the conversation that I've seen has revolved around Copp. Thoughts?
  10. I think with your roster, we have to fill the fourth line with strong defensive UFA adds or our PK will be a trainwreck. And Kahun takes an X spot, leaving two places open for the kids. Which I think is an ideal number, but just saying.
  11. Maximum retention is 50%, so for Fleury would be $3.5M. Full retention on Fleury and we'd be the one throwing in a sweetener. And honestly, I don't see them being interested in Hutton. Remember that Vegas went out and got Lehner to bolster their goalie depth before the playoffs. With a compressed schedule next year, they aren't going to be comfortable with Hutton as their 2. On top of that, it sure sounds like they have no interest in moving Tuch for any reasonable offer. He's a whole lot more than a sweetener to them.
  12. I've spent a good amount of time listening to Knights fans this offseason, so I think I have a decent grasp at their situation. Fleury is almost certainly going to be traded, and if it comes down to it he'll be waived/bought out. He's gone. Stastny is the next guy to go if Fleury doesn't open up enough space for Lehner and their RFAs/other changes. There's some concern about their center depth if they move him, but most feel confident in Glass/Stephenson as their middle 6 centers. Marchessault seems to be #3 on their chopping block. I only think he gets moved if they shake up their lineup in a larger trade or make a splash in free agency (Pietrangelo?), but he is definitely the third most popular trade option. Much to my dismay, because I was looking into them to begin with hoping there was a case where they would trade Tuch. 😂 I agree that Marchessault at face value seems a little pricey for us this offseason. But who knows.

If we're comparing to recent Sabres' picks, I see a lot more Nylander than Mittelstadt in Perfetti's game. A little Reinhart too, as someone mentioned. Obviously they're different players, but I'd personally rather go with a different archetype at 8.
  14. He's been beating the drum for Haula for a little while now. Depending on price, I'd like that in lieu of a Copp type acquisition.
  15. Am I the only one that's not really opposed to giving Olofsson a one year bridge, putting Skinner back on the first line, and making sure that Olofsson wasn't totally a product of Eichel at 5v5 this year? Truthfully I would've done this with both him and Reinhart this season to get a better sense of their value, but that's a conversation for another time.

If the board falls like it did there, give me Sanderson. Quinn/Jarvis are nice players too, I like all three of them over Holtz.
  17. Saad does have a NTC with a 10 team trade list, for what it's worth. Although I could see him as someone who they could convince to come over for a year. He's a Pittsburgh guy and from the sounds of that video still lives there in the off-season, so maybe Krueger/Adams could pull on the 'close to home' strings.

Perfetti goes at #4 in their mock, which is interesting to me. It seems like he either goes there in these things or falls past us.
  19. Saad would be such a good target if he played the right side, but it takes a little out of it for me knowing that we'd have to put him, Skinner, or Olofsson on their off hand. Not the end of the world, but it isn't ideal either.
  20. 2, they nailed the term. I double checked, their projection was 2 x $3.212M. Now obviously their model isn't perfect across the board, but they did a pretty dang good job on that one.
  21. I think cap hits will be lower, but not extravagantly lower. If anything, I think it results in more 1 or 2 year contracts with players who otherwise might get long-term deals. If I remember right, Jared McCann's projected contract at Evolving Hockey was around $3.125 and he signed for $2.94. Tiny sample size but it's in the same ballpark.
  22. Eh, I didn't see anything malignant there. And I'm a Hawks fan.
  23. If you look at Reinhart's 5 year projection on there they look a lot more reasonable. Only one that seems too high to me is Kahun, but maybe I'm just underrating him. 8 x 8.75M or so. Or 5 x 6.9M.
  24. I'm not a Kessel fan by any stretch, but any advanced stat that is primarily shot driven isn't going to tell the whole story with him. His shot is elite, so he's going to score at a higher rate than the numbers suggest.
  25. It would require someone picking Holtz/Perfetti/Askarov in the top 7. Not out of the equation by any means.
