I mean talking to a kid 3 months before the draft is not better then talking to the kid 3 weeks before the draft. Most of the top end guys seem to be high character guys so I doubt any real red flags come up. I think the kid that is the real wildcard is. Mason McTavish. He doesn’t get the hype of the others but he is big, plays hard, has a canon of a shot and is a centre. I wouldn’t be shocked if he goes top 5.

Not have a temper tantrum like most on here will do if their guy isn’t the pick. There are options at the top of the draft and they may have multiple picks. The only guy right now that would set me off if Edvinsson because his hockey sense scares me.

Usually they talk to players at the draft combine. No Draft combine so they will set up a time closer to the draft. Adams has had some stuff on his plate. They might not have talked to any players yet. Might set those up in the next few weeks. I don’t think it is as telling as some people who don’t want Power to be the pick hope it is.

If they named Granato HC after the season I would have read 5 weeks worth of, “They didn’t even do a proper search, there were so many coaches out there they could have spoke to but didn’t even bother, what an absolute joke.” Think about this: you are an experienced NHL Head Coach, you go in to interview with the last place team in the league who can’t confirm with you if the top two players will be traded or not and whether the only competent goalie on the team will be back.

Yes, other coaches will watch the film on him and realize how awful the team he had was and be impressed he got anything out of them. So if they hired a different coach would they have film on that coach too or is it just Granato?

I love that the Captain of this team said “Jack Eichel has to look out for Jack Eichel” and some people can’t figure out why the team has been a disaster and why he has to go. When your best player isn’t a leader then you aren’t going to win. When NHL vets that has won Cups came in here and said that Eichel blew them off told me all I needed to know about Jack years ago. Did I enjoy his talent, sure. Am I going to cry when he goes, absolutely not. I think Adams has it right about building an actual team with an identity that is united. Whether he can execute it is a different story.

Having Vegas and the Ducks battling it out for Jack, both not wanting the other team in their division to get him, is a best case scenario for the Sabres. Hopefully it ends up with a team adding an extra quality asset that they didn’t want to give up.

Also depends on the youngsters actually respecting the vets instead of blowing them off.
