100% agreed. In fact, I made that exact point in other threads. He’s still a solid example when you’re making a point though.
  2. I'm rooting for teams I think there's trade possibilities with to lose early, so... PHI-MTL: phi win TBL-CBJ: cbj win WSH-NYI: nyi win BOS-CAR: car win VGK-CHI: vgk win COL-ARI: col win DAL-CGY: dal win STL-VAN: stl win

-If We Keep it- 1) Rossi is the gem. He's the best-case that's also realistic. 2) Raymond, Lundell are my next two, feeling safe Lundell will be there at 8. If both are, I still don't have a final answer; some days its Lundell, some days its Raymond. 3) Sanderson, surprisingly, is an honorable mention for me if we suddenly find ourselves with multiple centers with any kind of term. 4) If we somehow go into the draft with multiple forward adds (multiple centers), and a quality plan on defense upgrades, I'd entertain Askarov, but this team would have to be playoff-caliber without using 8. -If We Don't Keep It- 1,2,3...76) You're looking for a real 2C. Think Cirelli, Horvat, possibly Monahan. Obviously also available for a 1C package if they live (Barkov). 77) Moving it for a winger/defenseman would depend heavily on who and contract details. I haven't thought at all on this, so I have no examples. Suffice to say, this path is unlikely. (Same for goaltender, but even less of a chance)
  4. I'd prefer to move both, to be honest.
  5. How so? If they win the lottery, they're keeping the pick, and if they lose, we still have the higher 1st to dangle. Mittelstadt may have decreased value, but I think he, Tolvanen, and Boldy would all poll similar in trade value. The only team's I see as having the ability to straight out-value us is Ottawa (3, 5, billion other picks and prospects), Anaheim (valuable NHL pieces), and Los Angeles (a mix of both), and I see none of those 3 being as desperate for multiple center upgrades as us.
  6. Nashville's been my horse, and I'm sticking to it. Ideal spot for us.
  7. If there's one good thing from these playoffs, it's my continued love/belief in our defensive pipeline to build us up for that playoff style. Samuelsson and Borgen are EXACTLY what our defense needs, and I hope both make it (100% Borgen will, tbd on Mattias) Also, despite a shaky Amerks season, Rasmus Asplund dominated as a twf against peers in the dev camp and prospect tournys. Hopefully he get's back on track.
  8. A whole week to announce a jersey? Biron also said something about 'surprises'... I'd happily take the 50th one's as a third.
  9. hahaha, oh boy. I didn't realize this was the 'hot takes' thread when I posted. My fault...
  10. ? What are we all doing here then?? I tend to bounce between optimism and pessimism with this team, but what you're describing is the franchise-folding timeline.
  11. That's the part I feel got lost due to the losing. These guys weren't finding enough talent, and Botts had a Mount Rushmore of bad trades. Now, I'm the exact opposite of a Pegula supporter/apologist, so I'll be skeptical that the Pegula's fired Botts and the staff for the reasons I would've (Me: they made terrible hockey decisions. Pegulas(probably): We need to save money!) Because of that, I still don't trust the Pegula's, but I won't go up in arms over every perceived grievance.
  12. That news doesn't bother me much. Ya, those guys are all legends, but Gilbert is right, we don't know if there's games next year. Also, the point about per-appearance payment and expanding the ambassador pool to include guys like Kyle Williams or Danny Briere....I mean, that sounds perfectly rational to me. Pretend we just lost in the second round of playoffs, and this news dropped. It would be a nothing-burger. It'll only possibly get amplified because the current losing streak amplifies everything...
  13. Gotta be people looking exclusively at goals.
  14. After some iterations, I fear that the 2c+t6w rumor discussed would include Reinhart, just based on salary (or, I guess, Olofsson). So yeah, either Adams is potentially about to make the trade of the century, or we're going to give up a key roster piece somewhere to fix the O'Reilly trade. Odds are bleak, but I've been hopeful in the wake of this news. Trying to bring back Girgensons-Larsson shows awareness of the parts of your team that did work, and that's certainly new to the Eichel-era Sabres.
  15. I miscalculated, but not by much. The loser of the Tampa Philly game tonight will play either Columbus or Toronto. Go Flyers. (either Tampa eats Toronto, or I get to watch Tampa/Jackets again. Win win)
  16. I'll likely be cheering for the leafs in game 5. That'll equate to a 0% chance at Lafreniere shenanigans, and very-very likely a first round matchup vs. Tampa Bay. Gimme.
  17. Duffs is my go-to, and has never disappointed.
  18. Nashville is poised for a shake-up as well.
  19. I dk about that... They have a 10 million dollar goalie who just played lights out.
  20. If you learn anything from best play-in round: Elite defensive centers win. (and, of course, hot goalies. The first is easier to predict)
  21. Strome is like a cheap hail mary 2C while we wait for 8/Cozens, imo. Like a mittelstadt++. I do hope Chicago isn't the team we're discussing with (there's only 3 possible teams I've liked, actually :))
