  1. I agree. He will develop and its only a matter of time before the O-line is upgraded and they get him a couple weapons. And boy does it pain me to type that.
  2. Last week I was mildly chastised for posting that the Bills would never win a SB with this defense. I want to retract that statement because Josh and the offense can outscore any other team in the league. As Taro points out they might be the only team that can put up 31 points and look mediocre doing it. If they win one it would be in spite of the defense, not because of it. What we’ve seen from the defense isn’t just a one game issue or a four game issue. It’s been a five year issue. Same problems even with the resources they’ve been throwing at it. Hell, an 0-3 Saints team just ran for almost 200 yards today. I’m not sure if it’s scheme, execution or personnel … or all of the above. I hope with some guys getting back it can make a difference. Time on task may help too. The Bills have the luxury of an extended seven game ‘preseason’ schedule (save the opener) to right the ship. I really hope they can. I want to go home for a parade and I sure can’t count on the Sabres.
  3. Were there message boards at that time? If so, that must have been fun.
  4. I’ll be curious to see if the BJ’s play with the same physicality that their prospects showed. Is it an organizational thing? And if so, will the Sabres match?
  5. This team will never win a Super Bowl with this defense. As for tonight, they’re letting a far inferior team hang around. That often will come back to bite you in the ass.
  6. That, and teams had figured out pretty quickly to clog things up, take away Tua's first read, and he's screwed.
  7. Big Ed will be out a couple weeks at least. The only guy on D who showed up last Sunday. Ankle injury. Got stepped on in Wednesday’s practice. JFC.
  8. Anyone have any idea which staffer gets chosen to explain to Tyler Bass who Wally Pipp was?
  9. The 'Battered Bills Fan' in me was glad that Coleman got tripped up at the end. The Bills would have had to make the 2-point conversion then kick off to the Ravens putting the ball back in Lamar's hands with however many seconds remained and all (?) their timeouts. Feels like we've been down that road before and it didn't end well.
  10. This is an understated comment. I was considering the Ravens/Chiefs/Bills* division schedules yesterday. The Ravens play four games against the Steelers and Bengals. The Chiefs four games against the Chargers and Broncos. The Bills four games against (pick two) Pats/Jets/Fins. Advantage: Buffalo. Last night's win is obviously huge if playoff seeding comes down to head-to-head and/or conference record. *The supposition is that these are the three best AFC teams. But the NFL is weird.
  11. Jesus, those perforated panels. The Bills should do a naming rights deal with Williams-Sonoma and refer to the stadium as ‘The Big Colander’.
  12. They sure tried at the end of the first half though, didn’t they?
  13. Just be sure to elevate Gabe for the KC game and have the Chiefs suffer from PTSD.
  14. I think its a good move. If (WR) injuries happen later in the year you've got a guy to plug in with 4 years experience working with Josh.
  15. If I understood correctly what I just read, the NHL has closed the LTIR salary cap circumvention for the playoffs starting this coming season. Teams must be salary cap compliant throughout the playoffs. Curious if the Golden Nights Stanley Cup odds just took a beating.
  16. I think its a matter of how long Tre's injury (which we know very little about), and to a lesser extent Max's injury, will create the need. Can't see BB making a deal to fill what is, to him, a one or two week gap. Having written that, I wish we weren't playing the Ravens in Wk 1 with a crippled secondary. In January we'll be looking back at the game as being a huge one (one way or the other) for playoff seeding purposes. Does/should that force Beane to make a move he otherwise doesn't want to make?
  17. I’ll be interested to see if there is a very large fourth year salary built in that the Bills can walk away from. Common tactic that helps agents crow about the great contract they got for their client. In this case 12M per year x 4. It may actually be 3x10 (satisfies guarantee) plus $18m 4th year that Cook may never see.
  18. Feebleness because KA. I think he re-signs Byram for 2 years to pair with Dahls. And frankly I hope he does because I have zero confidence he can do a Byram deal and make the team better short or long-term. I think he adds a 3rd line, relatively inexpensive forward in FA that he believes can move into a top-6 role. (There's that flawed hope as a strategy thing again). I think he adds a goalie that's no better than what he has if he can't coax another season out of Reimer. I think he doesn't come close to spending to the cap again this season. I'm basing this on the 5-year history of KA as GM of this team. Not endorsing the above (other than possibly the first point).
  19. One of the many that makes this team really easy to root for.
  20. Apologies if this has been asked or covered previously. Is Kesselring a 2nd pair D already or is he a 3rd pair D who is expected to jump into the top 4? If the latter, isn't that the Cliffy signing v.2? Separately, this should pretty much tank the Complaints Thursday thread for this week. (sorry for using that term)
  21. Just saw that the LA Lakers are being sold for $10B (billion, with a B). Maybe Pegula will buy the franchise and turn it into a $5B entity.
  22. I agree John. It’s just quite disheartening that it’s taken 5 wasted years for someone (TP) to figure that out. TP must really love him some KA.
  23. If it was KA .... he must feel he has infinite job security. Can you imagine going to your boss after 5 years of futility (at best) on the job and telling him/her 'I need help'?
