The "drought" is irrelevant to me, and many more think like me. The object is to win it all. This QB can't even muster up enough to get us in the playoffs. That has already been proven. Time to move along imo.

Ok, I didn't feel like multi-quoting. So, regarding Tyrod..... 1. His long ball is non-existent 2. His accuracy is in the 55 to 64 range of ranking qb's 3. His "clutch" ability doesn't exist 4. He is an "out of the pocket" QB that severely under performs, out of the pocket. 5. He reads defenses poorly 6. He's nothing. Not nothing special mind you, but just.....nothing. Time to move on from this error. There shouldn't even be a debate. Just move along imo.

Regardless of what many say, both on this board and other venues, Tyrod is a horrible QB overall. While people are busy pointing out the few, and I mean very few, pros of Tyrod, they blatantly ignore the cons. And the #1 con is the absence of a passing game. Bring in the new kid I say. He can do better.

The game was entertaining, no? Yes, I'd much prefer they win, but let's be honest. They aren't there yet. Next season? Maybe. But, and I'm not pointing out you specifically, just seems an appropriate time to say it, but anyone who actually believed Murray when he said 3 year turn around, just after stripping the roster down to and including the bone, should now realize it'll take 5 to 7 years from the 13/14 season to attempt serious contention. Does it suck? Yea. Patience, hard as it is to practise a virtue, it is warranted. Cheer up though if your feeling apathy. There is a light at the end of this tunnel. Hope that helps...... GO SABRES!!!!

Great game. Very entertaining. To bad they lost but at least they competed. Love the effort.

Moulson and Pommers end following next season should begin to ease the pain, if they aren't moved. But that Okposo contract.......yikes

Imo Kane won't re-sign here. I believe he's committed to going to ufa and signing with a team who is playoff bound, not one in the middle of a rebuild.
-
I don't buy this. At least not for Kane and Reinhart. There are teams who could use them now. I move Sam for Galchyniak and a pick/future. Gal can fill a LW position as Kane's departure will leave a hole to fill, and the Canadians would most likely take the chance on Sam as they need a center. Kane I'm looking to move for a clear #2 d man. Package him, there are a small handful of teams that have the need. I am as well, to an extent. We'll still need components that can fill some holes here now.

Yes, the personnel need a deck shuffling.Kane had 2 golden passes from jack, whiffed. Okposo in the slot, hits outside of post. We. Need. Finishers! At this time, move Kane and Reinhart. The season is done. May as well get ready for next season. -

Entertaining game. Counted 2 clean passes by Eichel, both to Kane in the game, that should have been in the net. This game should have never gotten to OT. We need finishing wingers, badly. But they didn't play horrible, liked the effort. -

GDT: Florida Panthers at Buffalo Sabres, 7pm, 11/10/17

3 things I notice with this team, and these 3 things have gone on for 5 to 6 years now, across multiple management regime changes. 1. Effort. Its been the same story year after year. Playing 20 minutes out of 60, etc...etc... 2. Lack of defensive scoring. This has really come on strong in the last 3 seasons, but the defensemen on this team do not pot the puck. 3. Speed with puck possession. This team has made terrible puck moving decisions. Passing is horribly bad, breakouts are predicted by opponents night in and night out. They rarely win puck battles. These things, imo, are culture related. There is a lack of drive in the players to be better, a lack of chemistry among almost the entire roster, and that to me in any event, is culture. Until someone, anyone, coach, GM, players, makes a concerted effort to change this, we will continue to see the same team product on the ice game after game. -
Well, you know, how about a 1 yr 5.5/6 mil contract? Gives the team time to clear a couple of 5+ mil contracts and settle up on the back side of a 1 year deal. Not likely, still, if Kane loves it here, would he play ball? Would it be worth it for him knowing a 5 year deal max on the back side of such a scenario?
-
I will admit, these last 5 games or so, I have been running scenarios through my mind on how bots can dump that Moulson contract. And while I realize its convenient to think such as a fan, I also have to bare in mind that these are people, with families. I don't know if Matt chose Buffalo because of that alone, but he has children, and the area is great for raising a family. I would want the Pegulas to honor that, if it was part of the reason. And that directly related to the potential to re-sign Kane. So many variables I guess. Would I keep Kane if a reasonable deal could be reached (a discount contract?), yea, of course. But I believe your numbers are accurate Liger. I can't see it happening unless we unload 10 mil roughly, and for a 3 or 4 year term only. Imo.
-
I will, and thank you to Thorny and yourself and all the rest for the subject matter. So, with that said, I'm interested to see if my thoughts on Kane kind of make sense, what do people think?
-
Ah, I see. You interpreted my comment on signing him or not as fact. Well, all I can say is this is a hockey forum, one I've enjoyed reading the banter back and forth on for a couple years before I felt like partaking in. If I speak unclearly, just ask for clarity. I'm just a Sabres fan remember, no reason to stomp on my balls because I express an opinion with some confidence. For my part, I've started using imo in my posts so I hope that helps.
-
Whoa Lets put the breaks on here. Please point to where I have said its fact. Posting an opinion with strong data to go from isn't stating fact. Core players are those you can build around in my definition. While Kane has excelled at multi-facets of his game, imo without Jack's playing ability his production in offensive numbers decrease. Making him, imo, I complimentary piece. The 10.14 aav between Bogo and Moulsons contracts hinder the numbers set forth by Liger. Especially any wiggle room to add components off season or in season next year if Bots finds the team in a position to entertain such.
-
This is where you and I view things differently. A majority of Kane's points this last year are overwhelmingly due to Jack's playing ability. Take Jack away from the equation and Kane's numbers drop, significantly. And you can see this in Girgs and Reinharts production, also driven by Jack's play, and this is not disputable imo as the numbers bare this out. Jack is our best player. With that said, Kane is a very good player in multiple roles in his own right. And unless Bots can move a healthy portion of dead weight contracts, my doubts on a Kane re-signing are all but cemented. What seals the deal for me as of now is organizational needs, and currently, there are a great deal of them.
-
Not really. You need look no further than Pittsburgs last 9 years to see where Botts pedigree cap / talent analysis comes from. Kane is not a core player. Or he'd already be re-signed. Okposo isn't going anywhere, neither is Jack a 10 mil or ROR's 7.5. Its up in the air what happens with Moulson and Bogo's 5 mil aav. The writing is on the walls here
-
Yea, I'm well aware. Hence why I stated, if he doesn't take it we move him and move on. In other words, there is 0% chance Kane is a Sabres by the deadline.
-
I keep Kane if he's willing to take 4 yrs @ 5.5 If not, move him.
-
There is absolutely 0 chance he gets re-signed here. In case you haven't noticed the roster is stuck with bloated contracts from sub-par or beyond marginalized players. And while that is no fault of Kane's, its a current reality none the less. Furthermore, you are stating draft picks in return, not I.
-
Girgs showed speed. Kane scoring (pump that trade value UP UP UP) Glad for the win.

Wow! Way to go.
