Very interesting. I still believe the hurdle to the Sabres come playoff time, is that Toronto team. How to keep pace with them scoring wise, because they are going to pot some pucks. Another finisher/sniper with speed, drive and chemistry for a true contributing force would be ideal. I just don't want to give up the assets necessary to bring one in personally lol.

If they start scoring with consistency. So far it's been Skinner and Eichel bailing out the team for ties or starter goals for the most part. We have to have a larger contribution from that 2nd line. It's invisible for most games most nights to date. Not that they don't contribute, but they don't contribute enough to take pressure off our 1st line nearly enough.

The time for consistency from line 2 is now, not another couple of months from now. So far Skinner and Eichel have maintained production just enough to win these tight games. Pressure must be taken off our 1st line in order to really be considered a challenge to Toronto, whom I consider the hands on favorites to take the EC.

They are definitely playoff bound. I thought .500/playoff bubble team, but this run has me believing wild card spot at the very least. That being said, Botts is going to have to address the 2nd scoring line situation, regardless of playoffs or not. It's not contributing nearly enough to maintain sustainable help for the 1st line. I mean, it's great and all that Skinner is taking off and we've found one of Jacks future wingers, but pressure must be taken off of that line to some extent with help from the 2nd scoring line. Reinhart, Middlestadt, Okposo just aren't getting it done with consistent basis. A trade, a call up, doesn't matter the solution, that line has to contribute more than it has.

Could be. I just don't see them moving him at the deadline next season given the log jam at D in the pipeline now. Pilut, Guhle one of these guys is going to replace him imo. If, we land all 3 1sts this off season, adding scandella to move up? Or acquire other picks/young assets in a package deal?

I'm looking at cap implications with Dahlin in 3 seasons and a potential Skinner deal, or, if not Skinner they are going to need to pa an established finisher. Combine that with what I believe McCabe will get (3.5 to 4.5 × 4 or more yrs).

Scandella has 1 yr left after this one at 4 mil. With Moulson and Pominville coming off the books after this season that frees up roughly 10 mil in cap space. Combine that with potentially re-signing Skinner, having to deal with a potential longer term deal for McCabe and possibly re-signing Beaulieu, Pilut's ELC looks to be Scandella's replacement. I strongly believe they plan to move Scandella after the season.
