Is There a Path Forward for Eichel and the Sabres?
Scottysabres replied to Curt's topic in The Aud Club
The Sabres organization is so ***** ed. This entire situation is a freaking best selling novel sold in to a 3 1/2 hour movie or a 5 season TV series. The title?: "Corn holing a hockey franchise fan base, the Terry Pegula Story". -
My Maple Leafs fanatic next door would have me incarcerated, and I'd go with joy of I knew just one Sabres management team member were an assured cell mate.

Ralph Krueger needs to go - like yesterday.

Forget about the idea that the Pegulas will sell the Sabres

PA, would you be so kind as to start up the "Fire Nucci" thread? Thanks. 😄 -
Is a jankle like a cankle, only Jackie?

It's yesterday. Is he gone yet? -

I agree, but, were fans, emotionally vested in the team, and that will bring out the inner child temper tantrum in most of us. I do try to use humor to mask my own disappointment lately, although I have espoused changing both management and the players, a fresh slate. Is it the analysis of the past 6 or seasons that drives that view I have? Sure, I can admit to that. Is there a less deconstructing way? Anything is possible. But some of these players will have to be jettisoned to make it happen, again, in my opinion. -

Well, this is interesting times as a Sabres fan. The players, the coaching staff is all the fan base really hears from. The GM and owners have not addressed any of this. I find that very interesting. -

I don't think we have anyone on the roster that will. -

Why doesn't Dahlin just drop them himself? -

Sad but true. -
I'll just ask this here: None of Reinhart, Eichel or Risto are going to want to stay in Buffalo past this season I suspect. So, Eichel and Risto are still under contract, Reinhart is an RFA, the question needs to be asked, move Reinhart at the deadline and the others in the off season, or another approach and what can the return possibilities be?

So, when does the "Eichel, Reinhart and Risto want out" thread fire up? Asking for a friend. If I'm Terry Pegula, I'm picking up chairs, tables, and anything I can grab to throw at the TV. He has to realize this is it, the core of the rebuild will most certainly want out. -

So, what do the top draft pick look like this year? -

RJ calling the game as "A Christmas Story"? He just called Reinhart, Ralphy. Maybe Samson can throw on the pink bunny suit, Sheehan can break out his Telly-tubby suit. At least I'd be entertained. -

Yes, the coach should go, I concur. -

I would normally agree with the view of replacing the coach, but I am very skeptical that coaching alone is the issue. A good portion of the core players here have gone through several coaches, at what point do we become honest with ourselves and review the passing in to your team mates skates, the lack of urgency and compete in skating hard on the puck, the shying away of physicality and more has been a 5+ year problem with the players through multiple coaches. -

The team meeting will solve all of this. Although, Ralph once again told Skinner to go to the Press Box for tomorrow's team meeting 😄 -

While I'm open to ALL forward progress type possibilities, I must confess, I am not interested in anything Pittsburgh. Sorry. -

MODO, I'd like to paste a post I made both earlier in this GDT, as well as another thread started by Crusader. I would like to post the Crusader thread one, If you would indulge in reading it, I would be greatful. And I completely understand your stance, your countrymen are on the list, but, I believe you to be a SABRES FAN, and as such, would understand my view of the organization. This isn't against Ullmark, nor Olofsson, nor any other individual player. Posted this in the GDT just in the past hour "I would fire Adams and Krueger, trade Eichel, Reinhart, Olofsson, Ullmark, Staal, Hall, Risto, Montour, Dahlin and Miller for packages of draft picks and prospects still developing. Let other contracts run out, try to move Skinner and Okposo, but wouldn't be paramount if we dumped all of the salary in the trades mentioned above. The Eichel and Reinhart trades alone could rebuild your top 6 center spine and then some, let alone the other trades. It's just not worth it to try and continue on with this nonsense, because that is just what it is, a joke, pure nonsense. Hire a well known successful President of Hockey operations and the GM and coaching staff will fill out. This isn't working, and it's actually harmful to the organizational brand on a broader scale." This would be a rebuild, but, NOT A TANK! Just a rebuild. Prospects that can play, young roster players, draft picks. A do over, if you will, without intentionally losing games. The driving force would be, TO WIN! You speak to Linus, I've seen your posts. Before you read my pasted post, pass this message along to him, not only for him, but for the entire locker room. I'd be greatly appreciated. Here is my message, may it reach the ears of the players: "You, and only you, can change the direction of events. Your actions, your play, your comradery with your team mates. I watch, night after night, day after day. You have it within you to make it happen, to make the difference. We believe. Now, it is up to each and everyone of you who put on that Jersey to do the same, to believe." I have no idea if that will make a difference, but, if you could convey that message, and that message was conveyed by Linus, to the team, it can't hurt.
