  1. Where is the language in the CBA that describes the bold? There were numerous contracts signed (Draisaitl, Matthew’s and even Jack) that have 90% of the compensation as signing bonus with minimal salary ($1m). It’s paid over the course of a few years, but it’s very advantageous to the player in terms of protection against a lock out or buyout. A signing bonus cannot be factored in to the 2/3’s buyout and is payable regardless of a lock out, if were one to occur in 2024. https://thehockeywriters.com/nhl-players-planning-lockout-signing-bonuses/
  2. You are probably correct. The NHL definition is ES but I saw a few articles, none with sources to NHL that said Empty net was not a factor in the calculation. I checked the game log for Sabres v. Devils 4/6. Risto was on the ice for 3 including his EN, and one against, thus he was credited for a + on the EN.
  3. +/- does not factor in ENG. Sam’s actually-26 through 38 games, and none are the empty net variety. Not defending TPRM and whatever the calculation is, or the ES performance of Sam. Only calling out the plus minus stat.
  4. 20% escrow & 20% deferred yields ~$600k. Ten games or 1/5 of the season is roughly $120k. Not sure a fourth is worth this, but I’d trust Stevie.
  5. Washington is only -115 giving the 1.5 spread. Seems too obvious right? With the Midnight Toker in net?
  6. First time all season NJ has two PP goals in the same game.
  7. This...makes the Eakin signing for two years even more egregious.
  8. Agree 100%. If that was the Rasmus playing under Kruger it would’ve been completely different, resulting in a break away and a goal against.
  9. Apple and oranges trades. We gave StL prime years on a great AAV contract. Colorado gave up the last year before UFA, so slightly more than a deadline-like deal. A proven Dman+ two prospects, and #31 overall is a fair haul for what is typically a rental. And while what we gave up in hindsight is nothing, the simple fact we accelerated the rebuild and lost our chance at Matthew’s is the far bigger crime of TM. Imagine one more year of suffering, getting Matthew’s and then offering ROR an even bigger deal on July 1st.
  10. Probably....but I always go back to this for irrational exuberance. Always hope. April 3, 2013 Washington Capitals acquire Michael Latta Martin Erat Nashville Predators acquire Filip Forsberg
  11. Any chance to get Lundell? Hall, Risto + this years 2nd?
  12. Nylander is a “foreigner” too, but your point is received.
  13. We defer to your filth! Moot Wife.
  14. Was there any insight on why his last contract was only one year, and not a multi year extension? Do you think this was an Adams/Ownership decision or bilateral? p.s. Did Vogl share his byline with you?
  15. The conversation was around other GMs lowballing Adams, and the decision about taking the offer (in this they used a third round pick as the basement) against what you and Wookie are saying. They framed it as holding to protect his resume or reputation. Then came the angle that Terry would want the former, as it’s a real savings of $57,000 per day. In Ralph’s case, you are losing the money either way but in Halls’ case it’s actual savings from payroll. My own two cents, not from the podcast, if both money were not a factor to either decision and Terry was not meddling then Ralph is fired sooner and a Head Coach is named this season.
  16. That idea that ownership would factor in was speculated by Johnson and Friedman in the podcast. So there must be some logic in this thought. Apples and Oranges between spending money to acquire an asset and cutting bait with one. As it relates to Ralph, it Adam’s were the singular decision maker, he would have been fired long before he actually was. At least I hope that would have occurred.
  17. If Adam’s is the decision maker, this probably happens, but he is not. Hall is costing ~$57,000 per day in salary, and Terry will factor this in.
  18. Chris Johnson said as much in the 31 Thoughts podcast today. I cannot see this happening. They floated a scenario where some GMs try and lowball Adam’s, and they ended up on taking the best offer whatever it was, even a third round pick, which I think is ridiculous. The other nugget when talking about Pittsburgh was if they needed help at 4th line center would they be interested in Eakin. Would any GM give a 7th to take this load of crap? If so, make this happen.
  19. Cozens Jake (if he returns) or if not to another grinder Eakin - EMF Unbelievable.
  20. I think the implication is that the the preceding two years, while one officially his rookie year was worse that the short 7 game stint in 2017/18. And comparatively, they were worse. Much, much worse. Statistically and as a general observation. While I agree his play has improved this season, I can’t agree with the bold. And you would be hard-pressed to find anyone outside of this forum to agree with that statement. I hope this trend continues but you know sometimes the spark with a new coach does not last. The Calgary Flames won Four of their first five games under Sutter and has now lost five of their last six. Let’s see how he looks after April.
  21. If tonight’s game winning performance as an exclamation point to the overall performance since his return from injury will not convince a fan he is the answer, then nothing will. I don’t know if 5*5 is enough to keep his curiosity from testing FA. What is he wants to test the market and Boston goes hard after him? Talk about Soul Crushing.
  22. If there are 16 players on the 2021/22 Sabres roster that are currently on this years (2021), you fail. Regardless of whom you draft.
  23. Fogarty nets his second of year to win the game late in the third period. Just a rumor. I heard it through the grapevine.
