That's actually fairly possible. I personally don't like most of them (except Helenius) but I just kind of figure there's enough ceiling on some of them that you shpould be able to get somebody to bite but maybe not. 4D chess right?

I think they definitely want to have options for trying to get Hagens for sure. I suspect they will try to entice Boston into something if Hagens is still there at 7. You can say Dobson isn't worth the price or the salary but Montreal just got immediately better. This is exactly what Sabres don't do and thus don't get better. Trading futures for the present. Big additions. We just rotate pieces.

Yes exactly, Kesselring and Doan are the type of players we can use and no issues getting them but giving up Peterka for them was a problem. We needed to give up some of that prospect cupboard to actually get better. The Savoie trade was the right idea but Adams hasn't been able to do more of them. Likely overvalues his picks and their ceilings.

Well imo we still need 3 pieces to have any sort of real chance. A top 6 forward to replace Peterka. Another solid D man so that Samuelsson can be dumped and at least a mid level veteran goalie to create a competition there and make Levi really earn it when ready. We still might not be tough enough with that and it wouldn't win in the playoffs but it might be enough to compete for the playoffs and maybe get in like Ottawa did.

I don't think it's any secret that this roster was constructed poorly and his plan was dumb so there's no question these sort of players are the type we are missing and it does help change the make up of the roster in the right way, but unless he moves Byram for a top 6 forward (or picks and prospects for one) he's still playing that game of fix one hole create another and he looks like he's playing whack a mole or something. The problem is Dahlin's patience is at the breaking point right? He's said as much. It's now or it's another tear down do over.

I have no idea if Adams is done or not but I fear the end result. I am concerned with the loss of offensive production. We are forever going back and forth and not progressing. As I said, if we gave up any number of prospects I'd love these additions but what we gave up creates an even bigger hole. Right now we still look like a farm team for the rest of the league.

I'm not undervaluing him. I think he's a good addition. But I do think people here are undervaluing Peterka who imo has not hit his ceiling yet. Utah's top 6 with him added looks really good.

I'd be over the moon if we'd traded say Rosen and Östlund plus some picks or some other Rochester guy for Kesselring and Doan but for Peterka it's not enough and we create another hole. So maybe if he moves Byram for a true top 6 forward it'll end up an improvement, but that hasn't happened yet.

Clearly, they are not spending to the cap. They are not serious about winning.

There was a delay at trade time and I'd assume that was to put the signing into place. Utah probably wouldn't finalize the deal without him signing. I am amused it's for 7.7 million for #77.

Absolute bs. 1. Yes, I advocate adding grit because that is what the Sabres lack, but I am consistent in saying you need to build a balanced roster. Peterka is a pure goal scorer and they do not come along easily. You need a top 6 talent core and a bottom 6 to balance that. A mix of veterans and youngsters. It's not that hard, but Buffalo is idiotic and frustrating. You don't replace Peterka's production easily. 2. Pure rubbish that I'm against every move. I was in favor of the McLeod trade and advocated for more similar deals. Under Adams I think that's the only good one. Where's the progress? Adams still here. Listen to any podcast you want. Take your pick. Find me one that says Adams is a good GM and is doing a good job. Just one. I guess they are all taking the safest path too. John Scott actually gets it right here. To be pessimistic he's bigger, but I'm not sure Kesserling is all that much better than Clifton. There's a ceiling not reached yet, but there's no certainty. The return for Peterka. We aren't a better team after the trade and as I said elsewhere Peterka was one of only 5 players I really wanted to keep and build around.

Changes yes, but you see my list would have been you can trade anybody except Dahlin, Thompson, Tuch, Peterka and Benson and that's about it. Power would necessitate a great return but even he'd be a possible. So Adams moved one of my 5 untouchables and Utah looks pretty good.

Well the bottom line is we are now slightly better on D and substantially weaker at wing. If they trade Byram we are no longer better on D but maybe the D is slightly different. If we trade Byram for a winger said winger puts up 25-30 goals we are exactly the same with more shuffled deck chairs and an internal cap.

I really don't know why people think Kesselring is all that special. He has some potential but he really isn't proven top 4. I have no problem adding him, but Peterka is at a higher value level. I suspect Adams was truly worried about an offer sheet and they didn't want to pay him at a higher level after Cozens and Samuelsson. Peterka isn't Reinhart, but there are similarities here in terms of how the organization disfunctions.

Not true at all. Go back several years and when you were all raving about Quinn I said I thought Peterka was the guy to watch and I thought he'd be better than Quinn. That got laughed at by the usual people. So whatever. I'm listening to these Seravelli potential deals they possibly turned down and I'm just shaking my head. Adams really is a clown and there really is an internal cap.

Adams hates Rossi simple as that. I would not have traded Peterka for Rossi however unless they added. I think I liked Peterka more than average here and I am pretty pissed we moved him for what we did but Rossi instead of him doesn't really fit with where this roster needs to go, especially if you are convinced Norris will play and be a solid 1C. Here's my question though. How much better than Will Borgen is Kesselring? Because to me Kesselring is 50% Borgen 50% Jokiharju so he's more well rounded than either of them but we're basically not making progress.
