  1. I think I'm getting "Comfortably Numb" to it all. Maybe "One Of These Days" they will actually be half decent but not now. For this bunch we might as well "Set The Controls For The Heart Of The Sun" and watch it all burn as the dumpster fire it is. Kind of fitting that we got a loser point in the loser cup game. Two teams failing in their rebuilds and going nowhere. Neither team able to play any semblance of defense at all. They break their losing streak, we do not. Greenway's return made a slight difference. Johnson was trash. Malenstyn is listening to Ruff and playing hard. So is Zucker. The floaters still float. Seider nailing Peterka amused me. I've noticed the same thing in Boston where Zadorov seems to make special efforts to hit other Russians. Something about nailing your countrymen from these guys. Pity we didn't get Seider instead of Cozens. Then we could have taken Beniers instead of Power and maybe things would be a little better. Probably not. Detroit announcers were talking about palm trees and 32 Thoughts had a big thing on Buffalo and Friedman asks "why do players leave?" I think the answer is obvious.
  2. You know I hate to think it, but that is the moment he broke. He's never been the same player since that fight.
  3. When has Cozens ever battered anyone?
  4. Ah well, glorious twitter strikes again.
  5. Honestly, how bad is your hockey team if Krebs is on your top line?
  6. So Detroit's basically in the same tired of losing boat as the Sabres. I suspect we will hear at some point that Brady Tkachuk really does want out of Ottawa too. We aren't the only futility team, we're just the best at it.
  7. Saw an interesting post on twitter that showed that after taxes, Shesterkin will actually take home 200,000 less than Oettinger in Dallas. Some states really do have an advantage.
  8. I agree that the second line is the biggest problem and Cozens is struggling horribly so he cannot carry the wingers he is given. But I see a problem with Tage. Of course he's a deadly sniper and can score with a heavy shot at any time BUT he floats a LOT and he avoids contact on many occasions and is very lax defensively at times. Tuch is also a very inconsistent player who has great complimentary skills but in no way is actually a top line talent. He should be on the second line but of course we have no first line player at this point to play where he is. We should also admit that Peterka has cooled tremendously and is also looking like a second liner at best these days. On defense, when a marginal journeyman like Gilbert is your heaviest D man your D has a problem. Gilbert and Clifton are your shut down pair? FFS that's a joke right? Power needs a prime seat in the stands since he watches the play more than participates in it when the puck's near our net, and Jokiharju is Finnish for joke. The defense is shite, and it's glaring with Dahlin out of the line up. The level of talent on this roster is grossly over rated.
  9. Nope, they are most definitely a big part of the problem. I'm not sure there's a way to move them and make the team better in the process though. You certainly don't want to move people for even more picks and prospects. Philly wants a center for Michkov. Would they take Cozens? idk. Doubt it. Not if Torts sees the game video and has a say. Maybe Anaheim would take Power. They could use an offensive guy to pair with Trouba (see what I did there? ) Quinn is only going to some rebuild team like Chicago who might take a chance.
  10. We are exactly where we were when Adams took over. Remember losing had sucked the life out of that group as well and they had to go and most of them did. So are we doing it again? I told you it was fragile, and now it might be broke.
  11. I guess I am the only person who is not shocked by this at all and actually expected it. I didn't think it would be quite this bad but I am not surprised at all.
  12. In all fairness to this hockey team I don't think it's reasonable to think we can compete with a preferred destination team like Utah. Especially when they are on a long road trip so let's be reasonable with our expectations.
  13. Ya I don't buy that at all. They are factoring in his number one pick status and the projected upside to that and not just looking at what he's done on the ice. There might be GMs willing to gamble on that projected upside, that part is possible. Rebuilding teams. The problem with Power is he has all the size and skill you could want, but he does not really seem to want to play defense. Bit of a problem for a defenseman.
  14. The weather doesn't keep them away, it's the clueless loser franchise that keeps them away. That's real, and it just gets worse and worse. Players talk to each other. You think Eichel and Reinhart and Ullmark and ROR etc etc. are saying nice things about Buffalo to their friends? Hell E Rod probably slags them.
  15. In the old days there were a lot of Canadian Sabres who wanted to remain Canadian and they lived in St. Catherines or around that area. Short drive over the bridge. Nowadays they are so rich they just buy a condo in Buffalo and go somewhere in the off season so the border proximity isn't quite as attractive, but the weather certainly isn't a negative. Lots of them come from Northern climates.
  16. lol, I suspect that is why he was left off of the USA 4 Nations roster. Leadership has definitely been a big problem and still is. I still say Dahlin as captain was repeating the same mistake they made when they named Eichel captain instead of ROR. I wondered when Adams tore it down if Dahlin had too much loser stink on him and should have gone with the big 3 and I still wonder that now. To be clear that is not to suggest that Dahlin is the problem, far from it, but all the guys who have lived through the stink and accepted it at some point are also tainted by it.
  17. It's only in the Pegula era that this don't want to come here thing has emerged. It's reasonable. I mean would you? Nobody likes losing.
  18. Traded for nothing sure but traded for value? idk about that. You'd need a lot of cap space and a lot of faith in his possible upside. Definitely rules out all the top contenders.
  19. Ottawa jersey looks the best to me. Yes, it does look like the Flames, but I like their jerseys too.
  20. Nobody's trading for Power with the contract they gave him. Nobody.
  21. So you believe in unicorns? 🙂
  22. I hate the word "toxic" as it's the most overused word around today and gets way over used in all the woke political nonsense but yes, maybe it is the right word for the Sabres now. There's a fair bit of environmental discussion that says frakking leaves a lot of "toxic" land and water behind it so maybe it's just something Terry has to do 😉 There's a solution that won't happen. Terry sells the team and/or moves it to another city. Buffalo gets an expansion team with a new owner. Complete toxic free start over. It will of course never happen but probably should. The only other solution I see is Terry sells it and it stays with a new owner who hires respected hockey people to run it and they tear it down and rebuild it into a "destination city". Destination city stuff should be *****. Sure there's taxes, but that holds for every Canadian team and most of the league to some degree. Buffalo used to be a great destination and as a border town if you can't get Canadian players interested in being there you are doing something incredibly wrong.
  23. I think when push comes to shove in the stretch drive the veteran teams will separate themselves from the young up and comers. In general young upstart teams have to leap ahead early and then hang on later in the year. Depth and experience come into bigger focus second half of the year. Trade deadline also separates teams and you can be pretty sure that we won't be picking up any palm tree haters for stretch drive help either.
  24. They would have, until he showed he had what it takes on the ice and then they'd have embraced him just like we do with Benson. I wanted Dylan Holloway in that draft. In hindsight I guess the best pick for the Sabres would probably have been Seth Jarvis.
