  1. Well it does look like he wants out of Philly. https://www.phillyvoice.com/nhl-trade-rumors-flyers-nolan-patrick-changed-agent-chuck-fletcher-restricted-free-agent/
  2. Personally I wouldn't be surprised if the Bruins went with Vlader and Swayman next year. Rask might sign with somebody like Toronto, but I think he might also retire. I actually think Ullmark might sign here as he will get a bunch of 2nd string type offers (and the accompanying money) but we will be one of the only ones offering him starting money and term. Not sure it'll be a great idea, I'm 50/50 on it, but I think he will be signed by Buffalo. But who knows.
  3. Oh come on, you can see it on the bench. Eichel smashes his sticks sulks, hangs his head. Reinhart just sits there like he's elsewhere. You don't see them encouraging, interacting, talking to the new guys, etc. You watched them. You see how the good teams behave. It's damn obvious they are not leaders. Risto will hit some people or play hard and he's fine actually, it's just psychologically I think he's a little broken. Exaggerated expectations, years of losing, it's just time. I think he tried his best, he's just not that #1 guy he was told he was. Skinner? He's just a useless piece of *****. No comments on him.
  4. lol, we can, but history says otherwise. I think they might even walk away from Rask leaving themselves with a boatload of cash and cap room to try a different second line.
  5. It's the way the pieces fit together (or don't fit in this case) and how the TEAM plays as a while and interacts with each other. the lack of identity, pride, etc. That has to be fixed. Current core can't lead and this is already proven.
  6. Here's the thing though, it's not a rebuild. We haven't built anything in the last decade so there's no "re". It's just been a bunch of people standing around a round hole trying to fit square pegs into it from different angles. Time to dig a new hole and pour a foundation into it.
  7. I'm with you. People keep saying we tried this and comparing it to tanking, but it's not the same thing at all. With the tank the cupboard was bare and the starting point was Eichel with a side order of Reinhart. We have a different youthful group that can be brought along together as a team of equals. We just need to find a goalie, draft Power and build out with what we have and what we get for the big 3. I once again tell the doubters to consider the Islanders as an example of what you can do removing your centerpiece star and building with a good goalie and a solid NHL coach. Remember too they got absolutely nothing for Tavares. We will get stuff for Eichel/Reinhart/Risto. Follow the model though. Do that.
  8. Another bunch of St. Louis cast offs? I don't think I want any of the aged players. This is just a guess, but I don't think ROR would be happy if they brought in Eichel. I really believe he was not very happy with Eichel being named captain and him being #2 and although he is captain there, he wouldn't want to be #2 again to the same guy. Just a guess. Really St. Louis has nothing much of interest. They are a fading team that had their moment.
  9. Must really haunt Sweeney since he could have drafted him 🙂 Bruins aren't going to sign him to more than the members of the so called perfection line. If he wants more than Marchand they will say thank you for your time enjoy your next team.
  10. he did seem to come alive in this series. The Palmeri add really helped them and I thought Nelson really stepped up after Anders Lee went down. Pageau of course, true playoff performer. They've had some smart pick ups last few years. Still don't think they stand a chance against the Tampa Bay Cheaters though. Swayman seemed to come out of nowhere. It would be like if Portillo suddenly became our #1 next year.
  11. I don't think so. They're good in goal. Swayman seemed pretty good when he filed in earlier in the year and the young D is pretty strong but their forwards are all like Kuhlman. 3rd or 4th line types with limited offensive skills. No big scorers or offensive guys coming that I can think of. But I don't follow them that closely.
  12. Krejci and some of the other Bruins showing their age a little in this one. Seemed worn out. They might finally be a little over the hill with this core. Ultimately I think this one came down to 2 things. Rask wasn't great, he was just okay and not himself (in his prime) while Varlamov was excellent. The other is the injuries to Carlo and Miller (and maybe also Zboril) led to the Bruins D wearing down, and they are built around the D. That's half the D that started the season. Islanders lesson for us. They lost their big star Tavares and got sweet nuthin' for him but hired a good coach, got a good goalie and built a solid team structure around what they had. So we will get more than nuthin' for Eichel.............you see where I'm going there........... Tampa will beat them though, but still, good run. Hall was trying, but he failed and dried up against the the checking. Wonder if he will get signed there or not? This round might make the Bruins think twice. and really, we all know the main reason Bruins lost was the Lazar injury 🙂
  13. I'm not scrolling back, did you comment on Palmeri elbowing McAvoy in the head with no penalty? 🙂
  14. Not sure about that. Martin, Clutterbuck, they may try to goad Marchand or somebody. That could lead to an issue. Being up a game they might play looser and throw some hits around. The home ice thing don't mean much to two teams that play all games like road games.
  15. Yes, and all that goes back to the Bergevin quote: "there are players that get you to the playoffs and different players that carry you through the playoffs." The question is do you build top down or bottom up. We have gone top down. Toronto is top down. Bottom up is Montreal, NYI. It will take you further sooner imo and is the better way to build a strong foundation. Again, goaltending should be a primary consideration, not an afterthought as this team has done in recent years.
  16. Yup. As they often do. Once again, this is the model we should be following. Not what we're doing so far.
  17. "Appeasing" Eichel is the wrong move on any level imo. Time to say the TEAM comes first and no individual is above that, not even Eichel. Team never "appeased" Perreault or Peca or Briere (etc etc). Maybe Hasek a little, but even he got ruffled a few times and he was apparently a difficult individual. You don't "appease" players you show them the door, and players should NEVER pick their own coach. Never going to have a unified team if one, or even a few, guys has a special link to the man in charge. Quinn is another stupid choice. Maybe they just love the name "Quinn". It's got good feng shui or something.
  18. No you don't, not if the Beniers fans are correct and he's the next Bergeron, then it's a steal for us. You can't have it both ways, people can't claim he's that good and then also fear a trade like that. If Sam for him is too much, then he's not the next Bergeron. It's one or the other. Look, people have to face reality. Sam Reinhart is NOT going to give this team a hometown discount and after the tail end of the season he had he's going to hold us hostage just like Skinner did. We are screwed either way and it's the best option to trade him while his price is at it's highest point and GM can talk about a new direction for everybody etc. There is absolutely no way to keep him and not overpay him. He's a West coast guy, let Seattle have him if they want. If they want Okposo they can have him too, but we all know Skinner don't care and ain't going anywhere. I will NEVER understand the logic in giving a guy with one great year a huge payday AND a NMC. Usually you take a discount to get the NMC. Unless you're a McDavid or Crosby or somebody like that. Stupidest thing the Sabres have ever done in a long list of stupid things.
  19. Offer Seattle Reinhart for their pick and take both.
  20. I hadn't considered Chicago at all. Not sure if they're on a youth movement or half and half or what. With the 2 massive contracts they have it seems unlikely, unless there is some sort of Kane to finish his career in Buffalo part of it (very unlikely). I really like Dach as a player. Was hoping he'd fall to us in that draft. Cozens was my second choice if Dach was taken. I'd trade Reinhart or somebody straight up for Dach if we could.
  21. You know, as much as I'd like it, I just don't see the Sabres unloading the bank vault at any coaching candidate, and as such I think it more likely we're going to end up with a Gronberg or a college guy or just keeping Granato. Not what I want, but I'd bet on it happening.
  22. cause I grew up on this stuff......... Montreal was the hated 70s rival and when we beat them it was pure joy. Toronto sucked in those days so they weren't worth hating like they are today. Montreal fans would come into Buffalo for those games and it was true rivalry. It's an ingrained hate based on history.
  23. Ralph. "Canadian born German professional ice hockey coach" was how it was phrased.
  24. I have to say, this is just wrong from Sabres fans.
