  1. I've never thought of that. Could a team trade someone away while still playing in the playoffs? It's never happened and that would be the ultimate kick in the teeth and I suspect that would destroy your locker room. You couldn't add a player so no one would ever do this but technically I guess, if you've played a game you get on the cup.
  2. Boston fans going batshit crazy right now over Ullmark rumors.
  3. @Thorny is running to be president of the Jeff Skinner fan club. His dream is to sit between two stalls.
  4. Not really. As long as the two teams playing aren't involved you can do whatever you want. The window before free agency is short so some teams want to get things done (or not) so they can go into free agency (and the draft) with clear plan A's or plan B's. Maybe Ovi will get his buddy Putin to threaten poisoning him if he doesn't play hard. It's a gamble for sure.
  5. Their on ice style and persona changed entirely. You have forgotten this but if you compare the way they played before that move to after it is night and day. Yes, it's Brind'Amour, but he needed a locker room he could work with.
  6. There's been talk now and again that Adams plan is to copy Carolina. I am hoping this is also part of that plan.
  7. idk if he is the one they HAVE to move but I'd certainly explore this if I was KA and I'd make a strong attempt to land him. He is one of the toughest heavyweights, isn't too old yet, and isn't a complete liability on the ice either.
  8. If they are a bottom feeder he will want out and they might honour that request. He's a good leader to build around but unhappy players are not good for a rebuild. There was talk that his NTC included SJ but nothing he can do about being waived.
  9. This is possible but also hearing rumours of Konecny and Laughton to Ottawa with Chychrun and other(s) going back. Clearly people are talking.
  10. Ottawa still trying to land Ullmark. https://ottawacitizen.com/ottawa-senators/senators-step-up-efforts-to-land-ullmark
  11. In terms of free agents, AJ Greer, mediocre player and mediocre fighter but he will hit and he will fight and he's not a complete liability. Only 27, might fill a 4th line role for some added toughness but far from a real heavyweight. John Hayden is having a good run with Coachella so you could bring him back. Again, mediocre in every way. Austin Watson is getting a little old, Liam O'Brien might be the best cheap option. Definitely a willing fighter. Not a great fighter but willing. Ryan Lomberg is a banger I'd make an offer to for the 4th line. Pair him with a heavyweight though. He's a scrapper but not a real fighter. A real heavyweight probably has to come via trade and I'd talk to Tampa and see if they have buyer's regret on Jeannot. He's an absolute beast.
  12. Smart move by the Sharks and I wouldn't be surprised if they move him with retention at the deadline for a high pick.
  13. and Brind'Amour didn't want an uncoachable player ruining what he had planned for that locker room. Culture changed there. Skinner could have been sold off at a deadline for more than we gave them. I do not think it was contract related at all. Could have been worse, you could have done rape and ice skate sales. Oddly also a perfect statistical correlation.
  14. This is why Washington bought CapFriendly, so down the road no one can look up PLD's contract.
  15. Burned out? I can't believe it. I think they just got over confident after being up 3-0 and they were too busy planning their celebrations and forgot they still have to earn it. They should bring their A game in game 6. They better, because game 7s anything can happen.
  16. You just don't get it. Carolina got a LOT better once they ditched him. We will too. We are at a change moment. EVERYTHING is going to change. I'm starting to feel it and it's making me happy.
  17. Also true. From what I have read though Kane is a veteran leader and his work habits are role model stuff. I have never heard that about Skinner.
  18. You can't win that one. Evander Kane wins one if Florida loses. ROR, Bogo, Eichel, Kane, that starts to make Murray look like he was a genius 🙂
  19. Or you package them together. In order to shed a Foligno contract you give up the asset others might want along with him.
  20. I could be wrong, but if you're going to buy a player out don't they always waive them first? It might even be a necessary part of the process.
  21. While I wouldn't say the refs were the reason Edmonton won this game, they weren't, I would say they did their best assisting in the league getting a game 6. The too many men that they ignored was blatant, Tkachuk's embellishment was iffy at best, and they basically let Edmonton get away with much more than they did with Florida. But whatever, somebody gets to choke that's pretty much assured. Could still be either. People cheering for Edmonton here have to realize that would mean Cory Perry gets another cup. Do you really want that? 🙂
  22. You're being fiscally responsible rather than just trying to win next season. You can decide for yourself if you think that's "good" or "bad".
  23. Oh no I got that as well, but I think he enjoyed it as well and just wanted to add the humor. I could be wrong.
  24. I think this about Barkov as well. Part of the reason McDavid has taken over.
