  1. He’s a leverage player. Saying it doesn’t work in the NHL is a two decade old trend. Having more guys who want to play in the corners and with defenders on their back are ideal. It’s the guys who need space to do anything that fall apart Oh I guess your link says the same thing as I did, semantics about skating. Edgework is overrated if there’s no drive: case study Skinner
  2. Good skating and shot selection. Theme cemented
  3. Russian narrative dedtroyed
  4. These are all the same arguments people had about the Bills’ turnaround. And they were wrong. coaching matters culture matters hot goaltending wins championships
  5. Vatrano and picks means we are making space for UFA or we are tanking
  6. McBeane are the exact same way. Their way or the highway. Just different strategies and they put personality first. Murray was personality dead last, let’s get high ceiling and take the toxic players every team is trying to rid themselves of. and this ‘veteran’ team is what ruined Risto/Eichel/Reinhart and led to today. Botterill was high floor low ceiling safe only, and was paralyzed by inaction when it was needed. Now we have a different approach of high ceiling, killer instinct (shoots well), and emphasizes skating over size. New coach pushes intuition over system. It’s the same arrogance, just a different flavor. hard to judge KA on year one when he was just following Kruegers lead.
  7. St Louis was passed up at this age
  8. Bills haven’t drafted that well. They went character first, talent second, and changed the team around Krueger went system first, subordinancy second, culture as a catchphrase
  9. And after his honeymoon year that had more to do with fresh coaching than anything else he is having all of the same issues on his new team surface
  10. Definitely one of those players whose draft perception got destroyed by the COVID world He has the attributes KA has been looking for, will be interesting
  11. No, it’s your take on stats that completely ignores personality, motivation, and how he works as a teammate that is the awful take. the guy is beta as hell and now he’s a leader. That’s a problem his stats will likely get better if he is a younger second line center for some other team. And they won’t pay him 8 million for it without suffering somehow
  12. Reinhart needs to go. Too slow and too passive. He really needs a strong environment to succeed and we don’t have that
  13. Borgen McCabe or Miller. Glad we have all those defenseman in the system now don’t we
  14. Reinhart is a mental midget and is a disappointment for a season purposefully tanked to acquire
  15. Analytics used are junk because the coach/system has too much influence on them than the player itself, and so are the people who use them as argument mic drops.
  16. Would they actually take him? Immediate star
  17. Scandella was one of the most egregious examples
  18. Yes it was. He was overpaid to be a leader and he crashed into Tim Hortons before ever starting and set all the wrong examples
  19. I wish we get to see a healthy Eichel under Granato. He always seemed held back by our systems to me. One of the fastest players in the league never had a breakaway because of the dogma.
  20. You make your own luck when you play certain ways. Their shackles were loosened and we saw the players raw. And ‘busts’ turned into possibles again and all the ‘luck’ stats improved across the board. Sometimes players are better when they’re happier.
