GDT: Preseason Blue Jackets @ Sabres, 9/25/2019, 7pm est, MSG WGR

I just wanted to point out, for all of the doom-and-gloom'ers: The only people who try hard during the preseason are those on the bubble Read that again slowly and take a deep breath. -
I think this is another factor in why critique of JBott's "roster" is misplaced. GM's usually defer to the coaches for that. If they strongly disagree, they fire the coach. He needed Housely to give him irrefutable evidence (for Pegula perhaps?) that PH needed to be fired. And he got it. And we got Cozens!
-
It worked out fine with Reinhart! Cozens seems stronger than Reinhart at that stage, fwiw.

It's the butterfly thing. The best way to stop pucks just happens to go against the physiology of the body. Kinda like ballet. The most beautiful motions are actually destroying your joints...

depth scoring! -
I think this is more of a coaching call. My understanding was that Botterill gave PH his take on Sobotka, and PH insisted he had value to the team and continued playing him. I'm guessing it was one of the biggest reasons PH lost his job. (Unless you're arguing PH should have been fired mid-season)

Is this the day our dreams come true, and we see an opening-night-ready lineup with no Sobotka? -

I think he even played D for half of a shift because somebody (Gilmour maybe?) wanted to show off their offense and got caught in the zone -
Good prospects don't get ruined

If he gives us the best chance to win this season, I want him playing here. I'm sick of waiting.

I think he implied a different context for his "talk" with Casey. It wasn't a "let's get to know one another" talk. It was a "you sucked the other night" talk -

I think Krueger is a pretty positive guy. With that said, it's usually not a good thing if the coach needs to have a talk with you. -
Thank you. Now, it's an understandable debate to ask whether JBotts should have stood up to ownership. My inside source says that, around the league front offices, word is that JBotts is in "self-preservation mode" and doesn't have the guts to stand up to ownership, who are too involved. I hope that's more perception than truth, for our sake.

In many cases (including the Humboldt Parkway excavation for the 33), the highways cut off and isolate (read: segregate) neighborhoods. When the Humboldt Parkway was in existence, it had many black-owned businesses that were frequented by traffic coming into the city. The 33 destroyed that. It's basically a way for suburban folk to avoid having to mingle with urban folk.

Jan 3 and 5 with Skinner and Reinhart. ERod was kept off the score sheet both nights. n.b., I'm combining this with my own "eye test" to arrive at my conclusion

What do we do if Cozens clearly outperforms Mitts? -
Don't we have recent evidence of 2? We don't have a sample of 1 since 2017.
-
Remember, JBotts has already been involved in the purging of Matt Moulson from the system, who had more cachet than Sobotka, and probably (?) wasn't any worse. I'm an optimist, so I firmly believe his hiring of Krueger was contingent on Krueger being willing to get rid of under-performing vets. (If not, they should both be fired immediately ? )
-
I don't think it's about them. I think (hope?) everyone in that lineup is in danger of being sent down/traded, unless they show they are better than our AHLer's
-
So this is the "bubble" lineup?
-
I've been saying (or thinking?) this for a while, but... We're due for an unexpected hit like this.
-
Dismissing the idea of Reinhart at center is the lack of creative thinking that, I'm hoping, is not embodied in our new HC. Erod does not belong at 2C. We have other options who are actually strong on the puck (not talking skating fast in circles playing keep-away) and actually have an NHL shot.

This is exactly what happened to the Humboldt Parkway in Buffalo to make way for the 33. Tragic.
