Stan: McDermott explained how he successfully recruited Brandon Beane from the Carolina front office: He sent him a text message attaching a picture of the book McDermott was reading, called “Chase the Lion: If Your Dream Doesn’t Scare You, It’s Too Small.” This is some dipshit self-help book by Mark Batterson, the veiled-prosperity-gospel preacher who founded National Community Church. Per the publisher, Batterson’s book is based on “the story in Second Samuel of Benaiah, who became King David’s bodyguard and the leader of Israel’s army” and “challenges you to follow God’s leading, act boldly on your audacious goals, and bravely plan for what comes after accomplishment.” I mean - fu&* me.

    So far so good. Subtle but solid moves. I didn't want Mittlestadt in the draft but he is looking good so far.

    Yes, why can't they make money AND build a winner? Makes sense. Unfortunately, it seems to be the same old Bills. I expect nothing to change until Russ Brandon is shown the door. No serious coaching search, a sham GM search, and another year of no attempt to improve at QB.

    I am not here to convince anyone. the reason I was banned from tbd is I finally figured out the Bills are not there to win. They are a financial investment from the Pegulas.

    Murray had a great last 2 drafts. He should not have been fired. But Jbots impresses me. You can tell he is very smart.

    Well. I should be liked here more. I just tell the truth, as painful as it may be. Two Bills Drive is soft. They want to believe in Tyrod, Sean McD, Kim Pegula. I think the Sabres are on the right track but I am stunned at the difference between the Bills and the Sabres. Bills on the way to the bottom. Sabres on the way to the top. Same owner.

    The Bills just don't understand the QB position. Period. There is no plan for next year. They are so incompetent that they hired a WR's coach with ZERO NFL experience to coach the QB's. They have passed on Dak Prescott, Derek Carr, and Russell Wilson. 2018 is a big unknown at this point. Most of the talking heads on ESPN have no clue as they salivated over Goff and Wentz and downplayed Mahomes and Watson.

    That's my point. If even Sal C can't pretend the rookie has shown something then that does not speak well for the player. Sal C appears to be angling for a job with the Bills. He used to be ok but has gotten so bad that it's hard to listen to. One example was right after the draft when the Bills traded back and passed on Mahomes and Watson. Sal C claimed the Bills had some master plan to obtain a QB in the 2018 draft. I watched the clip where Sal asks McD about the trade and Sal was literally leading the question and delivering an excuse for the Bills inaction at QB despite the fact that Sean McD himself never said any such thing! WGR now has made this myth a fact and insists the Bills have a plan to draft a QB in 2018.

    Based on the comments from Pegula it sounds like the sides are not that far apart. I expect a deal before the season starts.

    Even Sal C, the biggest Bills brown noser, can't pretend Peterman is any good. He was run out of town in Tennessee and his skill set is poor for the NFL.

    I really like trying Baptiste with Eichel. Speed and hopefully finish from a young forward.

    Actually, I think the Sabres made a great move with Jbot and Housley. Unlike the Bills, the Sabres conducted a real GM and coach search and hired top candidates. Maybe Russ Brandon was too busy messing up the Bills that the Sabres were left alone to do their thing. Maybe Eichel is the real GM. Either way I am excited for the Sabres.

    Do you really miss me? Two Bills Drive getting rid of politically incorrect types. Seems you have to accept Nathan Peterman as your savior to post there now. It's a sad day when a message board only allows people who agree with each other. Oh well, Mahomes debuts Friday night. Should be fun!

    You can't use the totals without context to the total cap. But I believe you already have said that. Others have just said Jack must get paid less than more proven guys who signed contracts many years ago.

    As someone who wanted Bylsma fired and Murray retained I am happy with Botterill so far. Wasn't crazy about the draft (drafts tend to suck when a new guy just arrives) but free agency and trades he has really impressed me.

    Botterill absolutely won that trade. Our defense has now been rebuilt.
