  1. Howard WGR‏Verified account @hsimon62 2h2 hours agoMore according to @PFF Peterman was 9-12 for 160 yds with clean pocket last night and 1-8 for 7 yards when under pressure Sounds like a typical Bills QB such as Losman, Edwards, EJ Manuel, and Tuel. When the bullets start flying he turns into in a pumpkin. Just praying that they hire someone in the next 10 years who understands modern passing and QB play.
  2. This 2017 Bills season brought to you by Russ Brandon. No coaching search. No GM search. No attempt to improve the QB position. Trading away talent for scraps. Sean Jauron likes to punt the ball, just like Brandon's other head coach picks in Rex and Marrone.
  3. Off the top of my head, I know Mike Tannenbaum who was the GM of the Jets and is now high up on the Dolphins has this background. The Eagles have Howie Roseman who had a similar trajectory to Beane.
  4. Ok, which current GM of this sort in the NFL right now is someone you admire for the way they run their NFL team?
  5. I used to like Sal C but he spins harder than John Murphy these days. I agree that it is possible Beane could work. I just think the process where we got here sucked and that's worth noting. Many have said they are glad Beane is here because Whaley had a background in scouting so we should get someone without that background. I disagree that the Bills are smarter than the best drafting teams in football who hire their GM's with incredible credentials. Look at how Seattle became a powerhouse after hiring John Schneider who has been an incredible drafter. And Pete did not know John before he was hired. He hired him because he got glowing reports of Schneider's eye for football talent.
  6. Look up his resume. All he did was assist the actual scout/GM in Gettleman. Like when Curtis Modkins was the OC for Buffalo no one cared because Gailey was calling the plays and designing the offense. He has no background in scouting other than watching some film with Gettlelman. Russ Brandon also watched film with Modrak. That does not make him a real GM. Now I'm not declaring this can't work. There are a few teams that employ an admin type over a scouting expert as GM. But the best drafting NFL teams do not follow this approach. See Baltimore, Pittsburgh, Green Bay, and Seattle. The reason he is here is he is wrestling buddies with McDermott.
  7. Seems like a sound decision as a Buffalo sports fan.
  8. They also traded up for Zay "Possession Receiver" Jones.
  9. Don't forget the Bills have the Greatest Scouting Department in the NFL because Beane the paper pusher from Carolina signed a few guys to replace the guys who were fired.
  10. That list is just names of various DC's and OC's from the NFL good old boy network. That certainly does not impress me. Kyle Shanahan and Jim Bob Cooter were far better candidates and neither were interviewed. The other guys the Bills interviewed were nobodies other than A Lynn. But A Lynn would not have been smart from a marketing position since he was connected to Rex.
  11. Do you dispute the fact that the Browns owner overruled the football people to draft Manziel? Not only did Shanahan's QB board get ignored the Browns paid 100K to have an analytics report prepared on the 2014 QB class. The analytics report told the Browns to take Bridgewater. That report was paid for and also ignored. Sound familiar? A bumbling owner overruling the football people. Exactly what happened when Pegula hired Rex by listening to Brandon over the objections of the football people. Or when he fell in love with McDermott before any football questions had been asked.
  12. The Browns have been incompetent but they are certainly rebuilding. They have had way more picks than the Bills and should be positioned to grab a better QB prospect than Buffalo in 2018. Sad. A team that had Kyle Shanahan give the team his QB board which was Derek Carr and Jimmy G only to have the owner draft Johnny Drunkball because a homeless guy asked him to is now about to pull ahead of Buffalo.
  13. One of the things that sold me on Jbots was the wizardry from Pittsburgh in assembling their D from low picks and scraps from other teams.
  14. Sadly, I agree. As I said in an earlier post the Bills are applying their foot to the brake and accelerator. There is nothing wrong with rebuilding. Just do it. Trade older players for picks and aim to have a core all show up ready to rock at the same time. But Sammy is a young elite talent. You don't trade those players in a rebuild unless you think they will win games. Change the QB. I recommended signing Nick Foles for 6 million to get us through the year until the star QB we drafted...oh wait, we put all our chips on 2018 even though John Gruden, Andy Reid, and Sean Payton would have pulled the trigger on the QB at ten. Well, Beane. Better start studying the QB position because I have zero faith in your buddy Sean at doing so.
  15. Russ Brandon wants to hit his metrics to bonus. That's why the team and philosophy never win or hit the bottom.
  16. Ok, I will grant you that they are making rebuilding moves. My issue is they are not aggressive enough in maximizing future assets if they don't plan on making the playoffs. We shall see how this shakes out soon enough.
  17. Well, when you want to discuss football I'll be glad to do it. Not interested in petty personal attacks. This was the philosophy of the Bills under Russ Brandon and Dick Jauron. Now it is back with Brandon, Beane, and McDermott.
  18. My point was the Bills did not commit to a rebuild. Are you saying this is rebuild year 1?
  19. I have been following this board for years. And I have posts in several other threads. But keep lying. If you feel it helps strengthen your weak assertion.
  20. Not sure what you are saying. Are you in agreement that middling it does not work? Or do you believe middling it can work? What is your point?
  21. You can like trading Watkins but Bills had the 5th year option and the franchise tag. So Bills gave up control and in return all they receive in draft capital is a measley 2nd round pick. The Bills made the call he would not be here, it was not just an unlucky circumstance. Assuming they out maneuver and out smart other hungry for QB teams in the 2018 draft ( a big assumption) they will still need to find a #1 WR. And that means another #1 pick on the position after spending 2 1s and a 2 recently.
  22. Brought back Tyrod. Brought back Kyle Williams. Shady McCoy still here. Signed Anquan Boldin. Got back a WR and CB when they traded those two away. Didn't draft for upside but chose players who were more "pro-ready" Threw away draft picks trading up to fill needs at RT and WR in the draft. Signed garbage depth players like Holmes and Ducasse to win this year over high 3rd and 4th round draft picks. If this is a rebuild it is not a very good one.
  23. Both Beane and McDermott claim they are trying to win an rebuild at the same time. When you try to do both you get neither winning or rebuilding.
  24. Both players Bills traded for already injured. You could not make this up if you tried.
