Only 18 years old, living in a new country, learning a new language on the fly, making your own meal, paying your own rent while living on your own and doing pretty well in your 1st year in a professional hockey league is pretty impressive imo and just shows the kids character. I really liked this addition on draft day and getting more and more excited to see him on the Sabres in a year or 2.

How long has the "We need to play better defensively" chants been going on this board? Pretty much since the beginning of the season or at least at the beginning quarter mark. How is it that we continue to give up break away after breakaway to teams like Nashville and it still hasn't even been slightly taken care of? Why are we still not getting it out of our own zone immediately? I walked away from last nights game and we gave up 4 breakaways yet no coaching change, no style change, yes he developed guys and he's very good at that aspect of coaching but as a coach who can elivate them into playoff Sabres I don't think he's the right guy for the job again imo.

My problem and I asked this last year is that the kids looked good towards the end of the season last year but I said maybe they’re playing this well because they have nothing to play for. Now here we are with playoffs on the line and this team is nose diving. if this team is so bad defensively why are our defensemen joining the rush at all? Why is the guy teaching them defense not out the door? It’s the same mistakes over and over each game. I like Granato and he’s a solid development guy but not a good HC unfortunately. I don’t see a cup in our future with him.

This is all playoff caliber hockey, they don't have the intensity to match other teams who are in similar playoff race as we are. We need guys who have been there and done, who know what it takes to win this late in the year. I said last year I hope we translate into wins next year , it's easy to play well when you have no pressure last season. The pressure was on and they crumbled. I've said it beofre we need a top 4 Dman who's actually good at defense, a bottom pairing 2 way dman who has playoff experience, a top 6 forward, and tough/2 way players who hit and have experience to replace guys like Okposo/Olofsson/Middlestadt and most importantly a goalie like Saros/Demko (someone along those lines) until the savior is ready to become the savior.

So should I bring back my .... "Is Don Granato the right HC for this team" article and see where we're at now? 🙃

We need to get bigger, nastier, guys who stand in front of the net and win faceoffs. at least 2 defensemen who know how to the play the position and play it well , I'd say at least 1 in the top 4 and of course a goalie.

I dont see how they would ask us for Savoie or Kulich for Chychrun but give a bargain to Ottawa? It doesn't add up and I never read anything about the specifics and not sure how someone would find that info out. Devin Levi I agree but now that he's signed I would get a legit goalie Shouldn't the big picture always be playoffs? Seriously they could have added Schenn, traded for Meier and traded for Joonas Korpisalo, what would that have done but made us better?

The goal has to be playoffs, Adams has been here since 2020 and granato 2021, Adams is 2 seasons removed of Eichel and yet to make the playoffs, Granato has 2 years of development for some of these players. The clock is ticking and if they put up another stinker for the playoffs it will be rinse and repeat once again. I thought it was very dumb not to give Granato the pieces to make the playoffs this year, there were goalies out there that could have helped and plenty of players. We have one of the deepest prospect pools why didn't we go after a top 6 forward, top 4 Dman or Goalie?

Slight edge to Savoie. Just as long as it's not "As the Levi breaks" that's all i care about.

I thought he's been very good on the penalty kill, he was always going to be more of a defensive forward, if you were expecting some offensive juggernaught you were always going to be disappointed. He is one of very few players that play well defensively, the fact that he's -5 doesn't mean he's the guy responsible in fact I've liked his defensive game especially on the PK but again just my opinion.

Kevin Adams is certainly to blame, not identifying a real goaltender since taking over as GM 2020 has been his downfall. Re-signing old man Anderson was just stupid. Not picking up any goalie or defensive help (Stillman/Greenway was not enough) at the deadline was also stupid. He has nobody to blame but himself, you can blame Granato like I do sometimes but he literally is trying to win and so close wihout any legit goaltender on the roster, its a ***** miracle we made it this far. If Adams is just putting all his eggs in the Devon Levi basket also that would be more stupidity but just my 2 pennies.
